I had Ratagulea in my DFS lineup on the weekend as he looked value and they named him as the starting ruck. Blicavs then seemed to take most of the around-the-ground ruck duties after the centre bounces....

Not really sure if that's the setup they will have going forward though, as it was against the Suns bad rucking division.
Ok, cheers for that.

A premium from a later round?
Yeah, basically you start a player with a later by round, in this case Short (R13 bye, as scheduled anyway) and in round 13 trade him to a player with a round 12 bye (in this case Whitfield). This effectively means you get one extra premo score at the expense of a rookie score (if you could field a full team) or a donut if your were <18 players from that round. Not generally worth a trade (circa 150+pts) in-and-of-itself, but when combined with an upgrade in expected scoring it can be worthwhile.

Generally what happens is you look back at about round 20 and think, what a dumb move that was as you post to the NTLC thread.

Cheers

PS: But I won't have to worry about that...my first post is going to be about trading Cripps to Dusty.

If you look at the week just gone Ratugolea had double the Cba's 20 to 10. I think he attended a few as a midfielder.
Ratugolea takes the centre bounce and then rolls forward to get a mismatch, Blicavs then goes into the Ruck, been our structure for 3 weeks, Blicavs attended a few centre bounces in the second half as a mid on the weekend to provide a big body with Guthrie and Duncan out but thats not going to happen in usual circumstances.

Doesn anyone have any thoughts or opinions on Madden's job security? I like him as a trade in as i have Briggs as a def/fwd in my defence, having him in my fwd line would be handy for me, can swing his to defence where it's been a total disaster for me.

Appreciate any info/feedback, cheers and good luck to all.

I think it depends on your cover in your forward line. He'll likely get more games between now and the end of the year but don't expect him to be playing every game from here on out. His inclusion will depend on availability of other defenders and who the Lions are matching up against from week to week defensively. The fact you have that switch though does make the trade in more attractive.

Cheers Bluff, much appreciated.
Great Nick by the way, 'BlufBlufShuv', obviously inspired from NLH... Have used this 3-barrel bluff on quite a few occasions, especially v nits... 😊

Surely you are not at full premium already and have the luxury of trading out the 10th highest defender on aggregate ?

I must be months behind the majority if that's the case (still have 5 onfield rookies 😢)

Wouldn't you want Whitfield to comfortably outscore Short by 10-20 ppg for the rest of the season to justify that trade ?

Short averaging 96 , fantastic team if he is a problem.
With you there Herbie. Flynn to Reeves/ Kosi to Whitfield in a week or two. Some have been lucky to miss the early premium carnage, way the game plays, do the best with what you have.

Couple of very nice trades right there.

Yes I am trying very hard not too look at other coaches teams and options and just try and focus on fixing my team piece by piece

Having trouble working out what my priority should be this week. Hoping for some advice.

Still need 6 upgrades, but have cover on every line so don't know where to start, or if I should just hold fire this week and go into the byes with some cash.

What about :-

Scott - > Weightman
Powell possibly to Mitchell , Petracca , Steele type unless you like Cerra or Bailey Smith

Powell is leaking cash so I'd look to trade him. He'll also have his BYE next week.
Maybe Powell --> Petracca/Titch?

Scott isn't playing this week so you could hold off on trading him unless you really want one of the downgrade options this week (Weightman/Madden).

Anyone thiking of trading J.Jordon this week? Has a BE of 80 and up against a Dogs midfield who usually get the bulk of the points.
Ideally I don't want to trade him but considering it at the moment. Pity Dees vs. Dogs is the first game of the round!

Those on Cerra watch must also be on Bailey Smith watch too? Has to be likely his CBA spike with both Treloar and Dunk out. Arguably a better prospect than Cerra too.
Not even a little bit. To be fair the main reason for me is Smith has a horrendous bye and Cerra has by far the best bye for my team but also because I'm not sold his role changes, he's played wing all year and he's played it well. Lipinski is perfectly capable of slotting into the midfield role and Libba already ate the extra Dunkley minutes up.

Just not expecting Smith's role to change and, so far, that role isn't close to fantasy relevant and I think Cerra is a fair bit ahead of him right now as a SC prospect considering role and skillsets.

Does anyone have insight on Blicavs/Geelong set up?
Is he taking the 1st Ruck responsibilities?
34 hitouts last week, 119sc points. 85 v Saints and 98 v Richmond.
Where is Stanley?
Has a good bye and D/M. Never seems to throw in terrible scores, although 2 50s this year and is durable.
Would be a super pod, but for teams like mine, which is low on trades and will need value picks, he could be an option at $429,600 to swing with Laird/FDs.
Rat takes the CBA and then pushes forward, Blitz starts on the wing and then is the ruck around the ground. His role is very good and I think you've got a great POD target with him.

The Stanley factor is certainly something to consider but I think they've found a better balance with Rat forward than not really having anywhere for Blitz and forcing Stanley in. Basically if the forward line keeps working as well as it has with this setup it's going to be hard for Stanley to get in.

Fair enough, I do struggle to get my head around this concept though. I mean anyone we trade in this week is still going to miss a game due to the bye......
Can balance byes a bit better though with that technique. So I can target any week bye this week, basically the one that fits best (for me that's r14 by a mile) and then you can use the r12 guys as fixers through the byes. They're the "unavoidable bye" so any in your team you're copping no matter what and can't be flexible about it. The rest you can always slingshot out of if something goes wrong.

So for me this week is about trying to get 18 on the field next week whilst also trying to maneuvre for the desperate attempt to achieve the same in r13. r14 I'm fine now and could take on another 4 from if I have to so obviously I'll load that one up this week and next if I have to. Actually kind of annoyed the Suns game is back on as Touk was a perfect target for me
