A couple:

Hall v Hawkins as a Zorko replacement

Titch v Cunnington v Boak (or anyone in and around that range) as a Fyfe replacement.

Personally I'd rather cheap out on the forward, so a Dixon type to allow me to get a Duncan/Touk type in the mids. Dixon very capable of matching those other two from here or even beating them and the mids averages aren't changing from here (Duncan's reduced by the concussion as well).

Titch would be the pick of those mids for me, his explosive upside is just higher if things went perfectly.

I took Hawkins over Hall two weeks ago, so no good reason to recommend the other way but it's a total coin-flip. Hall has a better role/scoring potential but his durability record is not good so it's the old risk/reward battle.

Boak & Hawkins V Duncan & Greene/Dixon

Leaning towards option 1.
Probably just. Hawkins has shown a high ceiling and Greene even in a year he is playing pretty consistently well is still only averaging 93.

Ziebell in this week vs. Langford in next week

Some forum hype starting to build around Langford after some good scores playing midfield and Ziebell looks more like a 95-100 guy with Hall there as well.
Do you have Hall? I've started looking at Hall/Ziebell as a combined 200-220 points per week rather than their individual scores. Noticed in a few games they'll each have huge 50 point quarters while the other scores much less, but this way I don't have to worry about which goes large in any given week. Plus if anything does happen to Hall (please god no) then Ziebell should revert back to a solid 120+ scorer.

That said, I'm bullish on Langford and he could be a great POD if you're looking to separate form the masses.

Daniel v Ridley as a trade-out slingshot to Whitfield?
Don't see your proposed trade as being that worthwhile unless you are struggling to field a full a R13 team. If Whitfield averages 105 and Daniel/Ridley average 95 then it's a gain of 100 points plus your Round 13 Whitfield/current 18th player difference - this only just breaks even on the value of the trade. And Whitfield's durability is worse than Daniel/Ridley, so you'd have to take this into account.

Like others have posted, the slingshot will work better if you can combine the exit of a R14 bye premo (presume everyone needs help with this bye) and possibly release a bit of cash as well.

A: Bont (McNeil to be kept on bench); or

B: Lyons (Poulter to be retained on bench, and can keep for further price growth and bench coverage before maybe culling)

Close call but I would lean option B. Really like Lyons with that Lions draw coming home. Someone I'm personally targeting to complete my MID once he bottoms out. Also holding on to Poulter for max cash growth / cover could only be a good thing.

With option A you are paying up for peak Bont but peak Bont is pretty bloody awesome. So even though I object to paying over $650K for anyone later in the season I can understand all the FOMO right now. Just glad I started the stud so I don't have to deal with all that. :p

Titch for me on the second one.

First one tough. Is it your last forward spot? If so I would be holding it for Dangerfield. If not, Hall just, only because I think the Cats will lose their next three and it might be a tough way to start a key forward in your team.

Thank you, this is good advice. It's such a vital part of the season. I know I am often guilty of trying to get the 'perfect' team, or target players I decide are must-haves when they're not really, at the expense of the longer term.

But I would count the scenario you paint as a win. 100 points for the rest of the season plus Whitfield over rookie this week seems like fair trade value at this point, particularly given the extra trades we've been given. I agree Short would be a better trade-out option but don't have him (only Laird and Lloyd from the RD14 bye).

Bont clearly for me, and philosophically would always preference the better on-field player above stronger bench coverage.
