Has taken up a much more significant midfield role, a role he has always excelled in with limited minutes but has really grabbed it this time. Very similar story to Parish, another natural inside midfielder, drafted as an inside midfielder and then played as a HF because he's got decent size and they're paying Shiel so much they have to force feed him midfield minutes.

The question is if they realise that having a guy who can't kick, doesn't work both ways reliably and is a reluctant tackler has been a big problem the past couple of years and that said player is holding back the development of more talented guys who can and do do all those things instead.

It's a big test for Rutten, does the tail wag the dog and they play Shiel in the midfield because he's got a huge contract and the football department likes him or do they keep Langford and Parish there because they're just much better players. Interestingly I actually think Shiel can be a decent forward as well, the kicking is a bit easier up there and his other issues would be somewhat hidden but it's a tough move for him I'm sure.
I would love to see them give Shiel a HF role with a licence to roam a bit. Basically take away the need for defensive accountability and minimise the areas his suspect kicking can hurt.
But you hit the nail on the head.. big test for Rutten and probably a defining one for the bombers’ chances of a premiership run in the next few years.

Who would you take this week at F6 out of Langford and Dale? Already have Ziebell, Hall, Zorko, Martin and Hawkins.

Was trying to convince my self to keep him…
Im getting rid of him myself. Unless he can end up as an F7, I don't think you can trust him for on field scores. Looks like Horse is using him as a deep forward for most of the game the last two weeks whilst then putting him as a loose defender at the end of halves for the last five or so minutes of these halves. Outside of that he was hardly getting up the ground and moving as freely as he did against Carlton, I think he might have tweaked his ankle injury a bit in round 12. He doesn't train much throughout the week.

I reckon the argument for keeping him (the one I'm telling myself) is that he finishes the season with gws, FRE, ess, STK, nm and GC, which is about as good as it's possible to get. It's a tough month to suffer through before we get there, though (bye, pa, WC, wbd).

He was probably in need of the break more than most, too, by the look of him.

You keeping him? My issue is that if I get rid of him, I then I definitely need to use yet another trade to get the cash for Grundy. Whereas by keeping him I likely need another downgrade.

Yeah I'm in a similar spot. My plan for now is to keep him, but that requires a downgrade showing up (or a Reeves) to cover a donut, so if that doesn't happen Heeney is probably first in the firing line.

If money isn't an issue, Dale. I think at this point his season average is a fair representation of what to expect. Langford is better value though if money is an issue.

Personally Langford allows me to get Lloyd and Mills (or any other R14 backs) to complete my backline and still be able to get Danger for Impey most likely in the week after that.

Any guesses on what Heeney might average from here?
I'd put him in the 85-95 range that he's basically lived for his career but understand it's going to be a rollercoaster because of the role. I'd probably lean towards the lower end because the Swans aren't very good right now as Horse seems to be in charge again :(

Planning ahead for Rd 17 and looking at what I can afford for my final fwd. Current line up is Zorko, Ziebell, Dusty, Danger, Greene.

Tossing up between Bolton, Hawkins, Dale and Marshall.

Very tempted by the Big Hawk (even though I already have young Toby) - hard to see Tom staying down and his last 3 are at KP.

Who do you think scores highest from Rd 17?

I am looking closely at Hawk in a few weeks time given he'll be cut-price and has a very nice draw. I already have Dixon and Greene so am going triple the risk if I go the Hawk route, if this happens one of them has to surely pop off every week given their pedigree??!

Not sure I like Bolton given his early good scoring very much influenced by his goals which are random from game to game, also their mids have returned by and large and seem to have effected his scoring. Dale probably is the safest but they do have players returning from what I can recall, not sure of the impact on him. Marshall I would only pick if you have the DPP swap and cover in your forward line. A player with a foot issue isn't someone you want at the end of the season with low trades.

So to answer your question, I think its Hawkins.

Zac Bailey doesn't seem to get many mentions, getting some CBAs, has DPP and with that Lions juicy draw. If you want Lions exposure and can't get Neale, Zorko or Lyons he seems like a decent option. I think also people who had Daniher might have sold a bit early on him if they did recently given their draw, I'm not saying to trade him in now given his price but you could well see him going nuts against some of the teams the Lions are up against in the run home.

With Dixon, Greene and Hawkins you could win the weekly if they all fire together 😄Thanks for the response - think I’ll take the punt.
