718 points, down 48 spots to 73rd.

Immensely frustrating because I didn't actually realise I had enough spare cash to go Vettel to Hamilton. That being said, he still lost a fair amount of cash, so it's all about making the cash advantage work now.

I've prepared some driver and teams break evens going into round 9, which is this weekend, at the Austrian circuit again. A very important round of upgrading coming up.

Drivers: Stroll 3, Tsunoda 6, Max 15, Russell 15, Schumacher 20, Kimi 20, Bottas 24, Mazepin 27, Ocon 32, Latifi 33, Gio 39, Dan Ric 44, Norris 46, Alonso 46, Sainz 58, Hamilton 64, Gasly 69, Perez 81, Vettel 88, Leclerc 115

Teams: Williams 21, Haas 27, Alpha 50, Mercedes 52, Alfa 52, Alpine 58, Aston 64, McLaren 66, Red Bull 69, Ferrari 95

Outside of Mercedes and Red Bull, it's hard to see any of the other teams adding a significant amount of value. Many teams will lose value (we are now in a 2 race phase where Red Bull and Mercedes have cleaned up and left very few points for others), so those looking for a cheap team could take Williams, knowing they can't lose more than $400K.

Max, Bottas and Hamilton all present excellent value if you think the three will take podium positions again. Stroll and Tsunoda are likely to add value this round, but if you need to go very cheap, Russell could score points with a bit more luck.

I suspect most trading strategies for this round will fall into two categories.

1. Do I leave out a 2nd Red Bull or Mercedes, miss out on those dollars and hold an Alpha Tauri and hope they hit their BE?
2. Do I leave out Hamilton (grab Stroll/Tsunoda instead) and miss out on those dollars?

(or 3. Realise I need 4 trades this round to make things work and no matter what I do, I'll be needing to catch up next round.)

Perez at 81 is interesting. I think on form I'd probably take him over Bottas if money weren't an issue but... well... it is. Do we try and predict him dipping a little for a cash grab?

Outside of Baku, Perez has only scored more than 81 points once this season (and that was 88 so that might only make $100K). It's the same track as last weekend and outside of penalties Bottas qualified 2nd and finished 3rd, so he's likely to add value.

Could look at Stroll in place of Alonso. Stroll cant lose value this round.

Otherwise, nothing wrong with getting a 2nd Mercedes but you may find yourself stuck with Williams for the remainder of the season. They are close to minimum value but they also don't look close to gaining value this season.

Thanks for the breakevens Wolffy

Hmmm, I'm a couple of mil short for what I want to do. I need to jump on a Merc after the double Alpha didnt quite work out. I cant afford Bottas so it means rocking Stroll and Yuki in my driver line up 💪

Something like:
Gasly to Stroll
Perez to Yuki
Alpha to Merc

Team
Max(c) Ham Stroll Yuki
RBx2 Merc Alpha

Think my best play is:
Max C
Hamilton
Gasly
Tsunoda

Red Bull x2
Mercedes
AlphaTauri

4.3m spare. Question really is if Bottas is a better play than the Merc - I think on pure numbers Bottas probably is better, but looking at the alternatives in cars it's almost a better defensive move to prevent greater losses. More alternatives in drivers.

Hopefully looking at a more interesting race this weekend. Basically the C5 (fastest/softest tyre) is great for qualifying but you can't get home on a one stop. Medium and Hard tyres will get you through the race on a one stop, but can teams make it through Q2 on the medium tyre? It feels like Red Bull and Mercedes probably can, but it's not good news for McLaren, Ferrari, Alpha and Aston behind them.

Otherwise, it rained towards the end of Q2 so FP3 is going to be busier than usual.

I'm not convinced of this - given they represent last week's soft and medium respectively, and all drivers last week ended up on the hard compound for their second stint, I think everyone will be looking at a 2 stopper.
