Has anyone seen anything on where the Socceroos games against China & Vietnam in early September are being played ?

I guess my thinking is that I want my 3 bench defenders to be playing from the start and as much as possible so they can make $$$ ASAP so I can then upgrade Bachmann , Mbeuma & Toney to premiums as soon as I can.

Although if I then buy a Chelsea/City/Man United/Spurs defender and revert to 3-4-3 I possibly can downgrade Mbeuma (but will then need to upgrade one of D3-5 instead)
There's nothing wrong with your game plan. Historically, that's the plan I've followed.
But I can't remember having so many bargains from a top team before. Feels like I'm cheating.

One problem I've encountered in the past, is wanting to move out 3-4 players in a GW, but having to prioritise due to the limit of 2 transfers.
You pick the wrong ones, you could end up being stuck with a DEF that loses value before you can flip them.
The fact that the Pool players will miss games, probably helps in staggering the necessity of transfers until I'm ready.

Also, don't feel you need to flip every player for one from a top 6 club.
The way the pts are scored now, it's possible that the best player from the worst team, is better than the worst player from the best team.

Take 444

Jakupovic / Bachmann
TAA Shaw Tsimikas / Aarons Pinnock
Fernandes (vc) Raphinha Havertz Mbeuno / Gilmour
Salah (c) Ings Toney

Probably change again nearer to kick off

Might change Raphinha, to Harrison or Soucek to get VVD

Will be definitely keeping an eye out on the Liverpool starting XI in case Matip doesn't start.

Hopefully my 3 bench defenders can do their job and fund 3 upgrades and Havertz & Alli do their job (although both look popular).

Probably over spending on both Gundogan & Mahrez from the start so will see how that goes.

Don't even have a Everton player yet 😀 so might do some last minute tinkering.

Given the combined 9m price tag, it's a risk that's minimised because you can still get all the attacking big guns.
Both are proven fantasy gods, and LEI have a good run of fixtures. I see lots of potential upside with minimal downside.

If Pool weren't cheaper and had a better run, I'd probably be looking at both too.
I'll probably hedge though and grab one of them.

Bertrand took some set pieces in pre-season games, but that might have just been experimental.
Maddison and Tielemans have taken set pieces in the past and I can't recall Bertrand taking too many at Soton.
I suppose it depends on what’s going on with Castagne. Looking at the prices that Justin and Castagne are starting at there seems heaps of room for growth in Bertrand and Pereira. Could be worth taking both in case it’s Pereira that falls first.

For me, Gomez is more a price point. At 3.75m, he allows me the versatility of getting two City big guns for GW2.
Bertrand isn't much more expensive, and neither are some of the 3.9m, but that extra change Gomez leaves actually makes a big difference.
Even if he wasn't to start, I wouldn't be fussed. It's an opportunity lost to make cash in the short term, but it can be a blessing long term.
I'm not averse to go with 1x or 2x 3.5m non starters, should Pereira do well and I've got his pts stuck on the bench.

Making money on too many players might make it difficult in freeing funds quickly. Might be best to keep 10m ITB to get the big guns in a few transfers.

I'm not bold enough to try and guess Pep roulette. Will start without City and decide in GW2.
For all we know, Jesus might get a surprise start against NOR.
But agreed, Gundy and Mahrez are looking like the best coverage ATM.

No Toffees? Top 10 finish coming up this season for sure.

Got 3 left in the Super League and haven't heard from the last 3. With 2.5 days to go, be prepared for an invite on Friday.
I want to nip that league in the bud with 24 hours to go, so bad luck if they leave it to the last moment.

Yep, and same goes with Tsimikas, aka Robbo 2.0. These are the types of opportunities the good fantasy players look out for.
There are too many unknowns, so needs to be a leap of faith. But we all agree the risk is worth the reward.
Will the early bird get the worm, or will the 2nd mouse get the cheese? Only time can answer that one.

In regards to the goalkeeper setup mentioned over the previous pages, I am an advocate of starting two goalkeepers from promoted teams, if you decide to start the season without a loophole, given the success of I Meslier and S Johnstone last season.

Couldn't fit Digne in & DCL toe is a worry.

Was reading a predicted starting XI for City and Sterling wasn't even included.

With Hamez and Gylfi likely gone, looks like all set piece duties will fall to Digne. This is the attraction.
But DCL is probably the biggest aerial threat, so if he's missing, Digne is less appealing.
I guess it's either both or neither.

England and Brazil progressed to the finals of their respective Summer tournaments, so all the City players from those countries arrived late.
I'm sure they were told to keep the weight off and keep some level of fitness.
Highly likely they won't feature in GW1, but I'd rather wait for the starting lineup in GW2 to choose my assassins.
For all we know, NOR might CS vs Pool and Spurs keep City scoreless.
Then all plans go out the window like we've been punched in the face by Mike Tyson.

Didn't England play 3/4 of their games in London , Sterling could have walked back to Manchester with time to spare

They did, but they're required to have a certain amount of weeks holidays between tournaments.
Although they're back training, they need to get up to scratch with fitness and gameplans, so will likely be rested GW1.

This is where I am at for now. Dropped down to Armatey and Gibson to squeeze Vardy in after having Greenwood most of the preseason so far, but wanted to see what having both Vardy and Maddinson might look like.

I love Shaw as a pick, but given Tsimikas is now an option, happy to start him as one of my 2 DEF.
VVD @ 4.2m also feels a must. Getting him in for GW1 will save a transfer.
Only way I'd dump him is if I left a heap of pts on the bench from an early game, and got some non-starters to loop.

Also, if NOR get belted by Pool and it turns out you want City, what's the plan?

Amendment #9,817.

Pereira goes big, I'll be praying both VVD and Gomez have a rest, or they might be swapped for non-starters.

The rest look nailed.

Sema or Cleverley is a coin toss. But Sema wins cos WAT have fair fixtures so I'll go the attacker.
Cantwell possibly injured but he and Dowell with Kamikaze fixtures in first 4 GWs so they miss out.
I like the 3.9m price point. With 8.51m ITB, can easily become Sancho or Gundy, or I can switch formation to 3-4-3.

With BRE kicking off early and me having 3 of them, I could even try looping Canos.
Bit too fancy? Would be fun though.
