Any leagues free atm? Be good to join and have a chat with haha

Cheers
Most of the leagues are full as they are invite only.

My public league is 994666 if you want at least one familiar face instead of a whole group of random players.

Not sure if this is the Big Footy 2021-22 league code, but try it. 711794
It's invite only too, but with less than 2 days to go, they might let you stay.

Ziyech had a blinder. 4 KP & 4 SC. 8 misc pts that last season would have got him nothing.
Meanwhile, Havertz was dispossessed 4 times, so would have been minused pts there.

Looking at their scores last season, Ziyech got 150 pts, but with the new pts system, would have scored 166 pts.
Havertz got 189 pts, but with the new pts scoring, would have got 167 pts.
Seems Havertz isn't the gift horse we all think he is, and Ziyeh is the one we should be going for.

Maybe Ziyech is the place holder for the City MID for GW2, not the 3.9m 5th MID?
I’ve kept an eye on Ziyech, but the price compared to Havertz and now the shoulder injury have put me off. I’m cooling on Havertz a bit with the fixtures but think he could bang against Palace. My fear is that fixture and the ownership. If he blanks against Palace then the fixtures are pretty average until week 7

@vsberlina

Are any of Fabinho , Keita , Milner or Elliott worth starting ?
I actually had Keita at one point, with wijnaldum leaving there is extra midfield spot there for the taking. Once Henderson is fit it could be him, Thiago and fabinho squeezing him out but I'm confident he will start for Liverpool this week and they could do with that creative midfield they have missed since Coutinho left but Keita has been underwhelming so far so I will review after week 2 before price rises.

Cheers for that , with my limited knowledge of EPL teams , was just curious if anyone would benefit with Wijnaldum leaving.

Ideally I would like to have a fit Buendia to replace Havertz but waiting for lineups.

Ah, good old Alfie Whiteman. The Bigfoot of EPL. Some claim to have sighted him. Others say he's a myth.
One thing we all agree upon though, is that he is a Sportal loop legend.
I actually saw highlights of a pre-season game where he gave away a clumsy penalty, but then made amends by saving it.
Hopefully he has Abominable Snowman DNA, cos it looks like he's off on loan to a Swedish club this season.

LEI are trying to sign Vestergaard, so Amartey looking less enticing now, particularly with Bertrand and Pereira looking much better value LEI options.

Ay-Ay-Rons. Can't take him seriously now, after watching the Key & Peele sketch.

So does that mean they are or aren’t worth starting? :p

The ambiguity is the beauty of the answer. Some follow me and do well. Others do the opposite and do well.

But in seriousness, I don't think any of them will see 3 games in a row, and you need 4-5 MIDS who are certain starters.
DEF is where you can take risks, given we'll look to start 2-3 and have 5 to choose from.

Ziyech definitely looks to have really found his rhythm during the preseason, pity about the injury this morning.....
Interesting to note that under Lampard, Havertz AVG was 5.6 but his last 10 games under Tuchel he AVG 9.4, huge improvement but now we don't know if the Lukaku signing will help him or hinder him. I'm guessing hinder, and that fixture run after Crystal palace is putrid. Still on the fence

My knock on Ziyech is that I don’t see how it all fits when Lukaku comes. You would imagine Mount is as nailed as it gets, so there’s 2 spots between him, Werner and Havertz and I guess I had him pegged as the 3rd of those. His form may have pushed him ahead but he’s not really a risk I was willing to take.

Chelsea are really becoming similar to Man City, could rotate their best XI with their backups aand they would still be hard to beat

One of the reasons for Havertz finishing last year strongly was he mostly played "False 9" (essentially the striker) in that period. Had previously played support roles out wide. With Lukaku a certainty for most games in that position, I think it most likely hinders Havertz's scoring potential...

Also Pulisic... bottom line is LOTS of rotation at Chelsea in wingback and wing positions

Team update.

GK Bachmann, Jakupovic
DEF Trent, Pereira, VVD, Bertrand, Tsimikas
MID Bruno, Sancho, Mbeumo, Canos, Livramento
FWD Salah, Vardy, Toney

$5.85mil bank

Atm the team is lacking the 5th mid. Would like to be at basement price to keep options like Pereira > Cancelo and Toney > Mahrez open for week 2. These are 2 of my preferred City options if I was to go there at all. Can also push Sancho > KDB.
Unsure that Livramento is my preferred 2nd donut. May find himself in Sotons squad, and coupling him with Jakupovic doesn’t help the VC cause for Vardy if he makes it too week 3. Also wouldn’t help looping Canos if he fires in week 1.
Anyways, inching closer to locking in a squad. If the 3 Brentford attacking options are named it will lock me out of much tinkering from that game onwards so that will be a relief in itself.

Werner was wasteful. The fact they played Havertz as a false 9 and now have bought Lukaku, tells me that they have no confidence in him.
He'll be making way, and filling in during the easier fixtures, to give the other two a rest.
