One of the reasons for Havertz finishing last year strongly was he mostly played "False 9" (essentially the striker) in that period. Had previously played support roles out wide. With Lukaku a certainty for most games in that position, I think it most likely hinders Havertz's scoring potential...
Lukaku is a big guy who can hold up the ball and lay it off. Havertz could benefit. We'll find out soon I guess.

But for the sake of GW1, once we see the lineup, I think getting a CHE attacker offers a good opportunity, and then that position can be used to move onto a City MID for GW2.

Werner was wasteful. The fact they played Havertz as a false 9 and now have bought Lukaku, tells me that they have no confidence in him.
He'll be making way, and filling in during the easier fixtures, to give the other two a rest.
That might be true, however he’s been played out of position as a striker, and prefers playing on the left? (may have this wrong). For Chelsea to take the next step they needed to buy a striker, Werner wasn’t the answer. However he could turn out to be a very good midfielder feeding Lukaku and may get more consistent goals himself. Same may be said of Ziyech and Havertz. I guess form will dictate who makes up their midfield, but each will be given their chances.

Team update.

GK Bachmann, Jakupovic
DEF Trent, Pereira, VVD, Bertrand, Tsimikas
MID Bruno, Sancho, Mbeumo, Canos, Livramento
FWD Salah, Vardy, Toney

$5.85mil bank

Atm the team is lacking the 5th mid. Would like to be at basement price to keep options like Pereira > Cancelo and Toney > Mahrez open for week 2. These are 2 of my preferred City options if I was to go there at all. Can also push Sancho > KDB.
Unsure that Livramento is my preferred 2nd donut. May find himself in Sotons squad, and coupling him with Jakupovic doesn’t help the VC cause for Vardy if he makes it too week 3. Also wouldn’t help looping Canos if he fires in week 1.
Anyways, inching closer to locking in a squad. If the 3 Brentford attacking options are named it will lock me out of much tinkering from that game onwards so that will be a relief in itself.
Was looking for Livra. He's a 4.0 DEF in FPL. One to watch.

I'm going 3-4-3. Canos on the bench and Sema will be sacrificed for a non-starter should he do well.
Will start Pereira. The force is strong on that one to do well.

The Sema spot could be upgraded to someone else anyway, so might not be a waste of a transfer to punt on Canos via a loop.

Pity they didn't give Tammy a chance. I felt the kid did well when he was played.
Anyway, he'll go elsewhere, do well, and they'll buy him back in 5 years, ala Lukaku.

Most of the leagues are full as they are invite only.

My public league is 994666 if you want at least one familiar face instead of a whole group of random players.

Not sure if this is the Big Footy 2021-22 league code, but try it. 711794
It's invite only too, but with less than 2 days to go, they might let you stay.
Cheers I've joined, be good to figure out this epl one works.

@vsberlina

Are any of Fabinho , Keita , Milner or Elliott worth starting ?
I've got my opinion on this as I support the Reds.

I think Keita could be a good smokey option and I've thought about having him seeing as his priced very low. I believe he will start the first game seeing as he had a decent pre-season without injury problems (so far), but my issue is that he is a rotation risk seeing as Henderson could play that number 8/10 role when fit or even Firmino could play that role and drop deeper to accomodate for Jota, Salah and Mane to all be in the starting 11. If he can capture his form in germany and stay fit he would be a lock for me, but im gonna wait 2 rounds to see how he does and then maybe jump on if he does good.

My squad for sunday would be:

TAA Matip/Gomez Van Dijk Tsimikas
Fabinho Milner
Keita
Salah Jota Mane

Would not be suprised if Firmino came in for Jota or if he put Firmino as a 10 and had Keita on the Bench. But seeing as he came back from copa i think he will start off the bench.

I'm targeting central/attacking midfielders that are bottom price and take set pieces. Thinking Cleverly here and was thinking Jensen from Brentford but dont think he will start. Not sure about the canos bloke so might go mbeaumo to see if he can nick some attacking stats. I think ill target the cash cows in midfield to make money..defence cash cows all sorted. Leaving some coin in the bank to upgrade after 2 rounds. Thats my strategy to start haha.

If you had to drop one of the LVP cheapies, who would it be? Assume most will lock in VVD, I'm just trying to avoid having 4 of them (United fan, just makes me ill lol).

FYI, I'm going with:

Bachman / Jaku
TAA/Shaw/VVD/PErreira/Tsimkas
Bruno/Sancho/Havertz/Mbeumo/Sema
Salah/Greenwood/Toney

3.1m in the bank
I currently have 13 of those! I love the Greenwood pick. I have had him in all my drafts until a couple of days ago when I grabbed Vardy. Still considering switching them back so I can carry a bit of bank.

Looks good to me.

TAA, VVD & Tsimikas look the most likely starters for Pool for the next 3 weeks.
Your problem is, you're gonna be benching some good players in DEF.
Ultimately, that's what put me off Shaw.
He's the most expensive, so even if you start him, by benching good pts, it's like benching cash.
Hence I decided to keep the cash to upgrade attack in GW2.

Doesn't seem likely that Phillips will be fully fit for LEE. He could be pivotal for their defence.
Greenwood could be a great option, but Vardy seems better.
Fully rested, on PKs, and a WOL without Nuno is just too juicy to pass up.

Do you mean Whiteman? If you grabbed him early and can keep him, he's the best to have.
If he's in Sweden, got no hope of making a cameo and ruining your loop.
