dusty a walk up 95 avg, dont see how you can pass on it, especially given how many forward options there are every year
Happy to wait on him at this stage. Always has a few games in a row where he scores poorly and can be picked up considerably cheaper than his starting price.

How does the discount determined? Is there any formula
Pretty sure there is somewhere on this gold mine of a site. But grab a sheet with the year's prices and the previous years games played and average and you'll get an indication. There is always a bit of SC magic with some more obvious types...but it's something like 7 or 10 games = 20% and 3g = 35%.... but have a look it'll jump out.

Should be but depends on how popular the player will be if they are too cheap

eg Ablett , Franklin , Libba , O'Meara etc have had between 10-30% discounts applied.

Naismith starting price even increased even though he missed a year.

6 or 7 games used to get 10%

4 or 5 games used to be 20%

1 to 3 depended on a certain average , think from memory it was 40 so was between 10 - 30 % whether they were above/below 40

0 games used to be 30%

Be surprised if Crouch , Preuss & Sicily get the full discount.

Preuss theoretically should be cheaper than Daicos/Horne

Wow I have owned him all year and only just noticed he has gone at 130 avg from 9 games since the bye.
Yeah, some players never get back to full strength after a broken leg, but it doesn't mean it can't happen as you've seen. A proven ball hog, who quoted a real keenness to learn from Smitchell when he announced his transfer a few years back. A proven pig I'll go back to the trough for :)

round 9 you say??? oh, that's only 123, last 9 games...so close.

I think you might have meant to say 10%.

mmm maybe , used to have it on my computer but that crashed years ago

Good article on Honeyball today about it actually , has some tables showing different players and the % used and discounts received.

Would need to average 80-85 to be worth picking, which is possible! Probably more a risk than other mid-pricers like Coniglio though.
79.83 in his last 6 including a 49 & 54 , not sure when he started his new role , probably depends a lot on if Houli goes around again or not.

4 premium mids + Neale , 2 premium Rucks would be nice to start.

Not sure of the Crouch , Coniglio , Shiel price type to start , might be just locking in a poor M8 (or worse) from the get go.

These are already dangerous looking picks I reckon.

Plenty of people on Tarranto this year at that price, and he's performed pretty well for most of the season (100+ average and good enough that you wouldn't trade him out).

But a few poor scores near the end has him averaging 97 overall, which you have to say is a failed pick as an M8 keeper right?

It's interesting , we all want our mids averaging 115+ (but how realistic is that to achieve ?) and dependent on when we bring them in.

So say you start a 100-105 mid how much are you really giving up over a entire season and can you make it up with the "loose change" starting pick.

Sounds like contract talks have stalled with Crouch , 2-3 times they have increased his training loads and more soreness has developed so would want to have a 100% safe preseason.

Does he then get a full discount ?

Coniglio having issues with his toe , maybe Shiel a option or Rowell.

But I guess you would need to be confident that they are going 100-105 +

If you can get 4 x 115+ mids and Neale from the start may not need a Crouch/Coniglio/Shiel/Rowell type in any case.

Presumably these guys will be a lot cheaper than Taranto was? But yeah, I agree, they're not worth picking unless they're priced below 75. Shiel I think is especially dangerous given Essendon have four other quality mids (Parish, Merrett, Stringer, McGrath).

Don't know if it's the game changing, or just the players we have going around at the moment, but there are 11 mids going 115+ this year (5 of them 120+) which feels like riches.

And bar Touk missing one, those 11 have played every game. The mids are where the points are at.

I think those numbers say that cheaping out and getting a speculative 95-105 player in the mids costs you 20ppg or more. Just spend the dollars and pick a $400k speculative forward instead. Playing every game and averaging 90 makes you top 10 this year and is probably good enough next year as well.
