Yeah, the discount bonus for Cogs and Sicily will be very important, as will GWS structure with Greene out.

Hopefully De Goey is locked up in an Alaskan Penitentiary so we get Maynard/Crisp too.
Only issue I have with Sicily is we don't really know what role he will be given, Sam Mitchell is an unknown quantity at this point. Certainly a value option but coming off a pretty bad injury as well. Would really need to see where he lines up in preseason.

Agreed, but if the discount was negligible some might dismiss him as an option in the first place.

Macrae is probably the one I don't start. Averaged 128 so hopefully has a lull and a Walsh type keeps pace.
Prefer to fade Bontempelli given he is more prone to lower scores due to his stints up forward and is not a high possession winner in comparison to Macrae. Unlikely Macrae is shifted around to accomodate the others with the majority of the on ball brigade possessing far more flexibility.

Bontempelli is already a longshot in my mind. Magnificent player, and one that could spike way above Macrae for a season (like Tracca and Oliver), but Macrae has more consistency.

The no Macrae statement was based on taking only 2 dogs to start with, and even then, not set in stone.

When Longmire was specifically asked if Heeney could see a 50/50, 60/40 or a 70/30 midfield/forward split in 2022 he replied:

“I think that he’s probably getting up towards that.. a bit more in the midfield now.””

“He got through this season quite well,”

“At the back end of the year he was training really well & able to play games out really well.”

“He naturally keeps himself in fantastic shape, so we’ll be playing him a bit more in the midfield this year.”

“We think he can still play in the midfield & push forward, probably be about 70/30 type split.” Longmire said.

Treloar and Dunks is nice but chuck in Macrae and Bont as midfielders and 4 premiums from one team has me nervous already without even looking at byes.
Dunkley Bont and Macrae have been fine together for years now, the only issue has been Dunkley landing badly from a mark and spoiling a ball which popped his shoulder. Treloar might be used more in the midfield next year but it doesnt change how many hamstrings he's pulled.

What is your concern with picking four premiums from one team? Isn't the potential upside (if Bulldogs win) just as significant as the potential downside (if Bulldogs lose)?

MELBOURNE and the Western Bulldogs will face off in a Grand Final rematch to launch the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, meeting in a Wednesday night blockbuster at the MCG.

In a change to the familiar season opener, the premiers will host the Bulldogs on March 16 before Carlton hosts Richmond in their usual Thursday night timeslot at the MCG.

It is the first time since 2014 that the Tigers and Blues will not kick off the season, with the Demons given the honour of unfurling their premiership flag in grand style after winning the 2021 decider in Perth.

>> CHECK OUT THE FULL R1 FIXTURE BELOW

The Demons requested the change after their Melbourne-based members missed out on the experience of celebrating the club's first premiership in 57 years in person at the MCG.

There will be five matches played in Melbourne in round one, including four at the MCG.

St Kilda will host Collingwood on Friday night, with father-son draftee Nick Daicos and new Magpies coach Craig McRae set to combine against the Saints, who will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2021.

Geelong and Essendon will clash on Saturday afternoon in another mouth-watering MCG match-up following two seasons of limited crowds at the venue.

On Saturday night, Greater Western Sydney will host crosstown rival Sydney at Accor Stadium rather than their own home ground.

The Swans will be anticipating Lance Franklin's 1000th goal, with the champion forward entering the new season on 995 majors.

It is the first time the rivals have met at the Sydney Olympic venue since the 2016 qualifying final, when they drew a crowd of 60,222.

Brisbane will host Port Adelaide at the Gabba on Saturday night, pitting two top-four teams from last season and expected premiership contenders against each other.

Football returns once more to the MCG on the Sunday of round one as new coach Sam Mitchell leads Hawthorn against North Melbourne, which could unveil No.1 pick in the 2021 NAB AFL Draft, Jason Horne-Francis.

Adelaide then hosts Fremantle at Adelaide Oval, before West Coast launches its season and closes the round against Gold Coast at 4.40pm AWST.
