What are your expectations for Taranto in 2022 and improvement in which categories will help propel him to an average which would provide a worthwhile return on investment?
On last year's numbers alone he would be Top 2 or 3 fwd next year. I personally think he's heading the same progression as Trac .
Look for a 100 plus average next year minimum imo.

Not a fan of that mentality to try to make a compelling argument for a player. The forward line is usually home to plenty of breakouts who after a few years relegated to a predominant forward role are finally given the license to play in the midfield.

What attributes that Petracca possesses and separates him from the majority of his competitors does Taranto possess? I cannot recall Taranto being damaging or penetrating by foot nor has the scoreboard impact or marking ability of Petracca. Taranto is susceptible to rotation up forward to appease the younger players bereft of opportunity to ensure they do not leave when their contract expires and with his poor disposal efficiency it is not an ideal role for a player heavily relying on amassing a large amount of the ball.

What is your concern with picking four premiums from one team? Isn't the potential upside (if Bulldogs win) just as significant as the potential downside (if Bulldogs lose)?
Think he'd be worried about fielding 4 players the week the dogs have their bye, especially if they share it with other relevant teams.

Won't be an issue if we get a full fixture, but looks like we might get it drip fed to us after the season has already started.

Agree, progression doesn't look likely. I think Taranto is all about role and risk fo which one. Less concerned about rotating forward and more becoming a forward with some mid time as we saw late in the season although then injuries saw better mid time again. The fact he is not a damaging player is concerning.

Dunkley looks the pick if you think repeat of prior year where he underscores post injury.
Treloar unlikely has the role to sustain the score needed and need injuries to do better.
Mitch Duncan in the mix.
Heeney if you believe mid time and less injuries.

Question is who is that junior midfield player that is 3-4 years in as a forward and finally going to get that mid role? Langford, Butter, Rozee, Constable (assuming listed as a mid)???

So many M/F in there, kinds takes the fun out of it huh? ;)

Think it mainly comes down to your accepted risk profile. Do you go a 'good player who seems likely to get injured' type like Dunkley vs. your young breakout pick who could just as easily stall you with an 85 average.

F1 for me has to be the safest premo you can find to sit there all year. If Mitch Duncan is fit feels like it's almost gotta be him.

I think the more options the better, strategically if you can avoid the one that the masses go for that doesn't deliver. Always been hard to pick 3 forwards every year given the churn we see in this position.

True. In that case, the fact that they are Bulldogs is irrelevant though, as long as you don't have lots of others from the same BYE.

Ah pre-season...

- Where regulars are training the house down
- Young guys are all poised for more midfield minutes (you'd swear the games are getting longer or something :p)
- Oldies have found renewed vigour in a new role
- Big men are fitter and moving better than ever (probably true: they're not getting banged into every week)

All the A-graders look good playing against the second half of the list eh?

All smiles and roses until reality smashes the dream half way through rd 1 and you realise that SC gem no one else knew about is the same SC turd he was last season... :sneaky:
