Yes, that’s right. It still retains this part though.

The 12 players who had tested negative on Thursday had PCR tests again on Saturday morning as a precaution, with three more positives cases detected.

The option for top-up players to be brought in from lower levels will almost certainly be denied as CA’s COVID-19 protocols require a five-day integration period for players who are entering the BBL “bubble”.”

Anyway we’ll find out the squad tmr.

Yep. I have no idea what their plans are - like most covid related things, they will make something up as it happens and if we are lucky, we'll know before lockout.

Maybe we need someone stalking some of these fringe players from other clubs to see if they are on a flight to Vic tonight. Would expect anyone brought from other clubs would want to already be in Vic though with the game tomorrow afternoon, so they get a decent sleep.

We’ll definitely know tomorrow as the Stars will have to name their squad!

Yep read that , hence my initial reply.

Discounting Gotch & Stanlake , they still have 15 local players (as per my list) + 5 OS = 20

Take off Hatcher (didn't have a LRP) = 19

So if they tested 18 someone else didn't get tested , maybe Daniyal

Anyway
Fox sports may have gotten the numbers wrong. Age article suggested the 12 negatives were re-tested (and there were initially 7 positives) so that does add up to 19.

I am starting to wonder with the cloud over the Stars, if I try and set myself up to run 11 DGRs the following round instead? No byes that round to swing a loop. Scorchers and Strikers not drawn to play each other. However, I am a bit concerned about that Gold Coast weather forecast!

Yep, so sounds like 8 available in total if Fox is accurate which they may not be..

All will be revealed in a matter of hours.

HS confirming Rauf will play.

Melbourne Stars are preparing to field what could be the worst XI any Big Bash League club has ever fielded on Sunday with Cricket Australia declaring their game against Perth Scorchers must go ahead despite 18 positive Covid cases in the green team’s camp.
Stars will be without 10 players, as well as eight support staff officials, at Junction Oval after the virus ripped through their squad, sidelining most coaches and players as the coronavirus tsunami crashed into the BBL.

At 3-3, the Stars suddenly face being forced to play home games against Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades (Monday) with plenty of its match-winners watching on TV from quarantine as Covid-19 patients.

But News Corp understands Pakistan’s World Cup hero Haris Rauf will power up the Stars with the speed machine returning a negative PCR Test on Saturday ahead of his return to the BBL.

Late on Saturday night, the Stars were still locked in phone calls desperately trying to source players so they could field a team on Sunday.

It’s understood that wicket-keeper Brayden Stepien, quick Xavier Crone and batsman Tom Rogers were all expected to win call-ups from Premier Cricket.

They will be allowed to play in the game under strict protocols given they have not completed the integration period required to safely join the BBL bubble

Stars will confirm their squad on Sunday morning but there is certain to be light on for marquee names while coach David Hussey and his team will also be unable to attend the clash.

Only dropped 5 spots 62 > 67 with a 530  Capt McD the Round killer (n)

I'm thinking of going in with just 1 Stars player for C this week (hopefully Maxwell is ok as I already have him) and focus my next 6 trades on the following 2 DGWs. Scorchers/Strikers = already have 4 players from those teams and Hurricanes/Thunder = already have 5 of them. Get that up to 7-8 for both rounds by trading some of my 4 Heat players + Hughes.

It will be interesting to see what kind of team Stars are able to field from here and whether they'll be competitive at all.
