The Stars listed a 13-man squad on MyCricket for Sunday’s game against the Scorchers with a raft of new replacement players.

The newcomers are batsmen Justin Avendano, Lachlan Bangs ($42k BAT), Tom F Rogers ($42k BAT) and Charlie Wakim ($42k BAT), wicketkeeper-bat Patrick Rowe plus pacemanXavier Crone ($42k BWL).

Avendano is an opening batsman who has BBL experience with the Sydney Sixers. He has been in top form in NSW Premier Cricket this season as the comp’s top scorer, with 434 runs in six knocks and a century in the T20 Cup for UTS North Sydney.

Bangs is an all-rounder type who bats anywhere. He has made 136 runs and taken three wickets in five games this season for Prahran in Victorian Premier Cricket. He scored two centuries batting middle-order last season.

Rogers is the leading run scorer in Victorian Premier Cricket this season with 551 runs in five innings for Ringwood including 200* against Prahan. He has three centuries this season as an opener. He’s taken four wickets.

Rowe is a 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman who has scored 283 runs in five knocks in Victorian Premier Cricket for St Kilda this season where he has opened the batting in first grade. He’s yet to debut for Victoria.

Right-arm top-order batsman Wakim is a 30-year-old who has played at state level for Tasmania and was previously a Hobart Hurricanes replacement player. He has 373 runs in nine knocks for Lindisfarne in Tasmania this season.

Right-arm fast medium bowler Crone took 24 wickets in 17 games in Victorian Premier Cricket last season for Carlton and played three times for Victoria last year taking four wickets in his Sheffield Shield debut in November.

Among the absentees are Joe Burns, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Sam Elliott, Clint Hinchliffe, Nick Larkin, Peter Nevill, Sam Rainbird, Beau Webster, Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis.

No.

Correct.

For example, you can place a VC on a Stars player and take their score after their second match via a Hurricane. If they do not score high enough, then you can place it on a Sixer such as Abbott. Same goes for looping emergencies. If for example you have Kerr or another Sixers player that you usually loop, you can select a Stars top up player and loop their double.
I see. Cheers. Same rule applies for a Heat player as well then ?

When you break down the Stars squad it actually isn’t as bad as it seems.

Stoinis and Burns hadn’t made any runs. Webster barely got a go. Three in-form local cricket batsmen to replace those guys.

Zampa had been quiet by his standards and O’Connell is a decent replacement. NCN is a fair loss, Crone replaces him.

Then the other six from the best XI are available in Maxwell, Clarke, Cartwright, Rauf, Qais and Couch.

Stars are about to get absolutely creamed. Im having trouble deciding on any player from either team. What if the Stars bat first for 60 runs? They would ruin all their scores and the Scorchers’ as well.

Cartwright (/Clarke if I didnt have him) might be the only safe bet, and only because of his BE- and even then he could be an absolute bust on points for his double.
Possibly a repeat of their first game of the season…? Rauf and Ahmad will play though so their bowling line up will be better than that first game.

Will be amusing if one of the local guys has a Warner style debut and then they will be hoping guys like Webster and Burns are out for as long as possible.
