The second version of my side.

Things to note: Swapping my injury risk down back with Sicily coming out and Whitfield going in. That Mid/Def link may be helpful at some stage and I'm tending to develop this side around flexibility. Changes up forward & in the middle coincide with other. Added English up forward for some ruck cover & Taranto comes out for De Goey. The cash saved there gave me the opportunity to grab Whitfield down back. As has been mentioned, De Goey can add 10 ppg onto his average if played on the ball whereas Taranto's score is already maxed out IMO and I feel I can grab him for the same price later on in the season come upgrade time.

Gresham & Coniglio stick for now as they have the potential to hold an F6 spot at season's end (if they last) and for 250k to 300k I'm willing to gamble it. Also, the forward rookies have been quite strong over the last few seasons and if this continues I'll be better supported in making up for their missed scores. If things are going super well (because that always happens ) then a Gresham/Coniglio F7/M9 as cover by season's end would be great. Dunkey in the mids will shift forward later on in the season as I don't like any other mids around his price and he should be the #1 forward come seasons end. Who knows how many games we'll get out of him though?

EDIT: I also think a mid-priced gamble on Gresham/Conigs is better than gambling on a Milera type for the same price as the forwards have a much better scope and history of scoring at somewhere near a keeper level for their respective position.

Put together a team with Rowell, Berry and Cogs as 3 midpriced money makers. 13 keepers + 3 stepping stones. A total of 6 midpriced players might be a bit much, or not considering that two are fallen premiums and two are close to cash cow price.

I think it is personally - I don't mind of any of your picks (Heeney is brave.... such a tease :p) however I think you might be better off just taking 1 of Rowell or Berry. Any reason for no Daicos? Kid looks an absolute jet from what I have seen, one of the few rookies I would be confident in playing round 1 & making serious cash.

Interesting to see this, as it’s not dissimilar to my side in quite a few respects (I have one fewer premo mid, and English for Darcy, but my side includes another premo def and Daicos).

There’s obviously some sort of overall overlay, but I agree with your take.

If you’re confident that Sicily, Heeney and/or Butters are quality keepers - and two of them have been before this season - I think those picks are fine. They’re not more risky or less attractive at $450k than $500k.

Rowell is the only one in the real red zone for midpricer pricing, and I can certainly see the argument on him at that price.

I currently have him, Cogs and Berry, and am just weighing up whether it’s too much collectively.

I think that’s a fair point, and it feels like a bit much.

I haven’t known what do with the spare money after picking the players I think represent good value. It’s a bit of a sink or swim approach so there’s no guarantee I will stick with it. Without Rowell I had Preuss as R3 and Treloar over Heeney with Daicos in the side over Rowell, if the season rolls around and expensive rookies show up and are necessary I will happily trade Rowell for Daicos or grab Preuss if he’s required. Daicos or JHF is also a bit up in the air, I was only concerned Daicos is a little bit small but I’m aware he absolutely killed juniors and the Pies midfield will allow anyone to step up

Heeney is brave but I feel like everyone is at the F2 spot, Treloar has a better floor but is even more injury prone than Heeney. I prefer Treloar over Heeney if money allows It. Tarryn Thomas is another one to consider after a good finish to the season but that came with no Greenwood and no Cunnington.

Agree with that take as well.

I think that there's an argument to take the midpricer label off Heeney because there's really only 3 premiums on that line and two of them can probably be picked up cheaper (Top 3 being Dunkley, Duncan and Taranto). Butters should probably still be considered a midpricer because he's speculative and we're hoping his talent shines through and his scoring in the forward line translates to the midfield. Sicily has averaged 105 in 2018 and was averaging 108 in 2020 before the game where he got injured, but still has questions and role in a stacked backline with Jiath and how his body is post injury. At this stage not including Sic seems like overthinking.

Cogs and Berry are locked for me and Rowell has only entered the side now, he's still got a bit to show me before I'm sure about him.

Amazing to think Touk and Wines are pods.
Can anyone see Touk getting tagged consistently this year? I think his work rates to big to tbh
Teams would be scheming to limit his numbers as a collective I'd imagine for a few reasons:

1. Not many teams tag anymore.
2. His workrate, like you mention. Not sure many taggers can gut run like he does.

If Rowell & Anderson look like getting involved then they may be the easier player to sit on (fitness wise).

I found something that last year Touk was tagged in 4 games. In those 4 games he averaged 34.5 possessions and 143 SC.

That's not my data so don't quote me on that but it's good to know he can deal with a tag

Alot of cash on high priced mid rookies here so potential to downgrade a couple and upgrade rookies on other lines if need be. Aimed for 12 keepers and achieved it if you include Butters and Hewett in that, all the 200-300k fwds I wanted to run I've managed to land too. Just the 4 premium mid looks scary on paper. I do recall a few respected social SC players running this to start last year and were in the top 500-1000 early so it has potential to still give you a fast enough start.
Touk/Clarry hard to split. Clarry has the jumper right now with a more proven history

What changed for Touk last year? Was there a change in coaching personnel at the Suns? Did someone else take over the run with role? Did the new rules help him?
Also, on the new rules, did we see an end of year review from anyone? AFL, Herald Sun, Supercoach addict? Stoppages, hitouts, tackles, kicks etc.

Currently looking at this 4 mid configuration as it allows a deeper back and forward line and the mid rookie options look quite strong this year. Not 100% happy as I'm missing Macrae and Oliver and view them almost as must starts, Treloar is a huge injury risk ( might pick up English instead) and Berry has some big role risk but if the rookies don't show up for the other lines then risk taking is going to be needed.
