Not sure I understand the love for Milera. He had one back half off a season where he scored well but only averaged 79 for the season and followed it up with a 74 average. At 271K it seems like he'll make 100k if all goes well coming back from injury, doesn't seem worth the investment to me.
That price range only really works if they absolutely smash it, otherwise you get stuck with a guy at 350k that requires 150K to be upgraded, I tend to go very light on that price range for that reason.

Im not as worried about Duncan as most, got very unlucky with injury last year but got back for finals and was one of Geelong's best players, broke his foot in 2015 and missed 3 months of footy but other than that hed missed 9 games in 9 seasons, lot more riskier selections for mine.

This is a big call.

I'd be slightly hesitant with any player from WA to start off, it's very likely they will be playing away from home for an extended period due to the WA border restrictions. I'm not saying he won't go 110+ easily, just that these conditions will possibly affect at least some of their players, having to play in hub conditions, when most other teams in the comp don't have to. I'd be ruling out his WA game averages when looking at previous years data to see if he is likely to step up as a start before locking him in. I think his 190 from last year was in Perth, but I didn't look in detail - his average might not look as impressive if you only consider the games at other grounds?
I agree with Ironhawk, big call for top 8. He is an absolute gun though. The whole WA border thing does make me want to avoid this type of pick too.
I think with midfielders, us as supercoacher's from my POV, all seem to view them differently. I put brayshaw into could go 115 category which hosts quite a few. And depending on how you play the game, that is an awesome return when you think about it. But if there are 6 guys going around at 120 - personally i'd rather start these guys and trade into a brayshaw. However as i just said, we all look at it differently, i'd rather pick a guy and pay up to begin with someone who has proven 120+ over a season, compared on picking someone who is going to 'take that next step'.

However Walsh top 8 is a fair shout.

This Covid is certainly making decisions on selecting players a lot harder. Hubs may affect some WA players, but not all.
And for the other States, players catching Covid can have long-term effects on their on-field performance.
Just because a player has caught Covid once, doesn't mean he won't catch it again.

How elite athletes have struggled with the long-term effects of Covid
For some athletes, the road back to 100 percent isn’t a straight line.

..........Even elite athletes competing at the highest levels of their sports are susceptible to the virus’s long-term effects........ and everyone’s recovery has been different........Covid has wreaked havoc on athletes amateur, professional, and otherwise.........While we have heard many stories of athletes recovering and carrying on with their seasons and careers, it is evident that is not the case for every athlete. Even in peak physical condition and in their early to mid-20s, athletes are dealing with the virus’s harsh effects and extended complications..........

There is a chance that Covid is rampant in WA by the time the season starts and if that is the case then the state may open up anyway as there is nothing to be gained by closed borders. However if border closures are still in place then the only way WA teams can play is to be in the ES for extended periods. I think WC will be a lot smarter this time round and better prepared than in 2020 but I suspect it will still have a big impact. And on who is hard to know so it just adds another variable.

There is a lot of "Covid fatigue" amongst us all. If bubbles and testing and restrictions and protocols and .........................continue, then there are going to be many players who will be affected. We won't know who they are, hell they won't know yet themselves, but there will be unexpected performance issues and/or leave taken throughout the AFL player group.

I agree. I caught Covid 2 weeks ago and symptoms especially fatigue has lasted the whole time so you would think if this happens to players it will affect there performances.

I find Ridley a tricky pick. Essendon seems to have better options for kick ins. The defenders scores vary a lot with free kick in points. At face value i couldn't select Rich, but then I see Birchall has retired and Rich has zero competition for kick ins. Long kicks. Free points. Its tempting.
Rich would definitely be a POD. Don’t think I have seen him in one team yet.
He’s getting on, but you’re right in that he has little competition for the ball in the back half for Brisbane. Plus Brisbane should have another good year.
Feel like he is fully priced so most will be considering him as a potential upgrade. Hard to see him scoring higher than his 107 from last year. Falls in the same bucket as Crisp for me.
Took him last year because I had a gut feel about his usage - paid off in spades. This year I can't see how he'll double down on last year. I'd rather a fully priced player that has consistent runs on the board compared to Daniel.

Maybe the WA teams will not need to go into Hubs, the way things are going.

.............Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said this was the start of Omicron in WA.
"I think it's clear that we're not going to eliminate Omicron, it's now about how we suppress and manage Omicron," she said.
"That's our intention as a government and certainly that's the advice of the Chief Health Officer

Maybe AFL players won't miss many games this year, if the new NFL's Covid protocols work.
