I've noticed a few changes from when the team picker came out but some don't seem right so I'm wondering if they are mistakes. McEvoy as a forward only? Lukosius as a mid only?
Although a few went up about $40k like Cam Rayner and Lachie Gollant. Briggs down to $182K?

Ollie Wines $612,600 MID

We say: Ollie Wines has been threatening to make the jump to an elite KFC SuperCoach scorer for a while and in 2021 he did it, adding eight points to his average. That makes him Port Adelaide’s most expensive player, but interestingly the Brownlow medallist is 13th on the list of top-priced mids in KFC SuperCoach for 2022.

RICHMOND

Ivan Soldo $326,600 RUC

Tyler Sonsie $117,300 MID

Sydney Stack $368,800 DEF

Robbie Tarrant $355,400 DEF

Nick Vlastuin $460,400 DEF

We say: The Tigers pride themselves on being an even team and that is reflected in their KFC SuperCoach prices, with just three players priced above $500,000 - Jayden Short, Toby Nankervis and Dustin Martin. Dusty hasn’t been this cheap since 2013 - from that point he averaged at least 99.5 points a game every year until last season, when he dipped to 92.5. What can he do in 2022?

ST KILDA
Oscar Adams $117,300

Matthew Allison $123,900

Josh Battle $346,000

Jack Billings $451,200

Dan Butler $289,500

Ryan Byrnes $287,800

Josiah Kyle $102,400

Ben Long $243,000

Daniel McKenzie $351,500

Tim Membrey $430,800

Mitch Owens $117,300

Ben Paton $279,000

Jack Peris $102,400

Jimmy Webster $365,800

Callum Wilkie $398,300

Marcus Windhager $117,300

Mason Wood $346,400

We say: Who is the second-best KFC SuperCoach player at the Saints? No.1 is easy - Jack Steele had the second-best average in the game last year (126), which is reflected in his huge price tag. Rowan Marshall is the second-most expensive player at Moorabbin - $150k cheaper than Steele - but can only be selected in the ruck this year. Next on the price list is Zak Jones, but there could be value in the likes of Jade Gresham and Dan Hannebery.

SYDNEY

Lewis Taylor $188,400 MID/FWD

Chad Warner $374,700 MID

Corey Warner $117,300 MID

Sam Wicks $314,700 FWD

We say: POD alert! Callum Mills is likely to be overlooked by most coaches this year after losing his dual-position status, but after boosting his average by 11 points a game in 2021 (to 112) and entering his prime at age 24, he is a legitimate option as a pure midfielder. Luke Parker has been a genuine premium since 2014 but shows no sign of slowing down, averaging 121 over his last eight games last season.

WEST COAST
Oscar Allen $346,300 FWD

Tom Barrass $431,700 DEF

Zane Trew $123,900 MID

Jake Waterman $313,800 FWD

Connor West $249,800 FWD

Bailey Williams $218,600 RUC/FWD

Jack Williams $117,300 RUC/FWD

Isiah Winder $123,900 MID/FWD

Alex Witherden $471,700 DEF

Elliot Yeo $470,800 MID

We say: He’s the forgotten man in premium ruck conversations but Nic Naitanui registered the third-highest average among ruckmen in 2021 - edging out Brodie Grundy - and played every game of the season for the first time since 2010. He’s also the only Eagle priced above $500,000. The most popular West Coast player this year could be mature-age recruit Greg Clark, who finally gets a shot at AFL level after dominating the WAFL for years.

WESTERN BULLDOGS
Dominic Bedendo $123,900 FWD

Marcus Bontempelli $651,700 MID

Josh Bruce $364,100 FWD

Louis Butler $130,600 MID

Luke Cleary $117,300 DEF

Cody Raak $102,400 DEF

Ed Richards $261,300 DEF

Josh Schache $296,100 DEF/FWD

Anthony Scott $276,400 FWD

Bailey Smith $472,800 MID

Roarke Smith $327,200 MID

Jordon Sweet $255,200 RUC

Adam Treloar $483,200 MID/FWD

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan $230,200 FWD

Laitham Vandermeer $262,000 FWD

Mitch Wallis $223,700 FWD

Cody Weightman $348,800 FWD

Rhylee West $187,800 FWD

Bailey Williams $419,400 DEF

We say: The Bulldogs have KFC SuperCoach stars on every line, and their price tags reflect that with six $500k-plus players. How many can you afford? Jack Macrae is the most expensive player in the game in 2022 and Marcus Bontempelli isn’t far behind - not having both could really hurt you. Josh Dunkley, meanwhile, is a much tougher player to read. He has the capacity to torch non-owners (he averaged 129 in the first six rounds last year before his injury) but Luke Beveridge loves to keep us guessing about his role. His average was a much more modest 93 after he returned in Round 18 (inncluding finals) and he will be one of the big talking points in the 2022 pre-season.

KFC SUPERCOACH GAME CHANGES FOR 2022

TRADE BOOST

– Every coach now has 35 trades over 23 rounds with a maximum of two per round and three during the byes (Rounds 12-14), unless you use a ...

– New trade boost! Up to five trade boosts can be used in any round to gain an extra trade for that round, up to a maximum of three per round or four during the byes. These bonus trades come out of your total of 35, and you can choose to use some, all or none of your five available trade boosts.

PLAYER POSITION UPDATES

At regular intervals during the season Champion Data will reassess player positions and assign dual-position status to players if their on-field role changes. For example, in 2021 Jack Ziebell was listed as a forward in KFC SuperCoach but spent the entire season at full-back – under the new rule he could become a FWD-DEF player mid-season.

TRADE UPDATE

Change your trade plans during a round? Now you have ultimate flexibility to adjust your moves after lockout – providing the players involved aren’t locked out and don’t bust your salary cap.

So what happens if you have De Goey in your forward line and by mid year he is deemed a midfielder only, does he lose the M/F swing?

The good part is players don't change roles, just be given DPP. I don't mind it, gives more flexibility.

The ability to change trades mid round is really good though. Would have been useful at times previously.

35 trades I like, be interesting to see when the ideal time to use the extras ends up being, or if you are better not using the boosts at all.

The 5 extra trades likely are there to help cover the players missing through Covid. With Omicron numbers dropping, there should be less need to save these extra trades for Covid replacements. But, if a new variant arrives later in the season, then the extra trades would be useful.
Playing safe, would be not using the trades until really needed, and this way, extra trades could be available during the SC finals.

Could completely change the Forward line if Dangerfield , Fyfe , Gawn , Marshall etc get assigned DPP status during the season.

Duncan , Dunkley , Martin , Taranto probably the main four , where does it leave the Bailey , Butters , de Goey , Heeney , Thomas types in the pecking order by season end ?

Is this their COVID planning? Or is there more?
Can't miss a game if you can't get a RAT test!
Trades are still worth more the earlier you use them and there will still probably be someone who plays aggressively and gets lucky like there is every year.
My initial thoughts are the extra trades give more value to stepping stones and bye slingshots, and the mid year positional changes would lend themselves to a more open plan. i.e. not locking in who we think the best players will be, particularly Defenders and Forwards.

These updates are actually great. I like the tradition of SC how it doesn't change things up, but these implementations are all solid. Trade boosters could be really handy for a number of reasons, obviously if covid happens.

But early on if you need a complete re haul of your structure due to injury or missing a real obvious selection - booster is an option.
That time of the year when you want to go one up and one down and there are a few option to trade down to on the bubble, now you could go 2 down 1 up (hate missing THAT rookie).

I agree with a comment above, perhaps opens the door to more stepping stone types of picks, with extra trades a 80k to 100k increase might be okay rather than waiting for 150k profit for example.

I think if you are to win this thing, need that bit of luck no doubt, but being aggressive at the right times is a must - now with more trades its go hard in my opinion.

Agree with all except the increase in trades. This year I understand the Covid impact needs addressing. Hopefully next year it reverts back to 30 or less. Good trading is a key part of the game and needs to be rewarded.

With boost you might be able to spend your trades before bye rounds.... Not a good thing, though I am sure some will do it.
