Magpies-Eagles match moved back to R6

The AFL advises of a further update to the fixture for Round Four of the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s Competition with multiple players from the West Coast Eagles AFLW remaining in AFL Health and Safety Protocols.

As such, the Collingwood vs. West Coast Eagles match scheduled to be played on Tuesday, February 1 will not proceed as planned with that match-up to revert to its original timeslot in Round Six.

The AFL will continue to work alongside the Eagles and closely monitor the situation with the health and safety of all members of the program remaining the priority.

AFL General Manager Competition Management Laura Kane said the league would also continue to work closely with all impacted teams on future fixturing arrangements.

"While the ongoing pandemic continues to impact and challenge our competition and our wider community, we remain committed to progressing the season as safely as possible.

"In line with the AFLW’s Covid Match Rescheduling Guidelines – which states a team is required to have a minimum 16 primary-listed players and five train-on players available to play – the league received a request from the West Coast Eagles which detailed multiple players from their program were currently in AFL Health and Safety Protocols. Working alongside the club today, it has been determined the Club would not be able to participate in a match as early as next Tuesday, February 1.

"Together with the AFLPA, we have and will continue to work closely with teams impacted in Round Four and will confirm alternative arrangements for those teams as soon as they’re finalised.

"Thank you to each AFLW Club, players and the AFLPA, umpires, venues, governments, ticketing agents and all supporters for their understanding."

ADELAIDE has mixed news at selection, losing speedy trio Stevie-Lee Thompson, Danielle Ponter and Justine Mules to AFL health and safety protocols, but regaining Chelsea Randall (hamstring) and retaining Anne Hatchard (foot).

Joining Randall in taking on Melbourne will be Caitlin Gould (who missed last week with concussion), Maddy Newman and Lisa Whiteley.

Brisbane spearhead Dakota Davidson has ended up missing just one match due to a foot injury, recalled for the clash against Geelong, with fellow tall forward Taylor Smith to miss with an ankle injury.

The Lions have also regained Sophie Conway (health and safety protocols) and Gabby Collingwood, with Ruby Svarc omitted and Maria Moloney – who coach Craig Starcevich said was still regaining fitness after contracting COVID – managed.

The Cats themselves have suffered a huge blow, losing Nina Morrison for its clash against Brisbane with calf soreness. It's not considered overly serious, but the Cats are keen to treat the star midfielder with caution, given she missed nearly two years with a torn ACL.

Talls Claudia Gunjaca and Rene Caris have been dropped, with Chloe Scheer (managed), Madisen Maguire and Annabel Johnson (health and safety protocols) recalled.

Melbourne will be boosted by the return of Lily Mithen and Maddi Gay from health and safety protocols, with Brenna Tarrant and Maggie Caris omitted.

Cheers, it looks like Morrison spiked last week, definitely a good sign that Webster and McDonald will continue with a high share and upside for Prespakis, Crocket Grills and Moloney in sharing around the 3rd banana duties.

Prespakis main issue is she is so dangerous forward of centre so will tend to operate forward-ish when her side needs a score.

GOLD Coast will be without Tori Groves-Little for Sunday's match against Richmond, while Poppy Schaap will debut for Carlton after joining the Blues as a replacement player in October.

Groves-Little sustained a concussion at training during the week, and will sit out their side's clash against Richmond as a precaution.

It will be a dream come true for Schaap, who was overlooked at the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft, but signed with the Blues after Serena Gibbs was placed on the inactive list.

Check out all the teams for Sunday's games below.
