Actually think the weight loss could help Dusty, has been playing fat the last couple of years and really just using the season to get in shape for finals, if he actually shows up in shape it could be huge. Also thing the Tigers have fallen back into the pack and can't coast on a sub-par midfield and hope Dusty can bail them out up forward. They need to get more ball forward because they've lost a fair bit down back and can't rely on it anymore to cover for a poor midfield.
The weight lost (10kg's some reports) likely both fat and muscle conditioning which has me concerned will take to see him back at his best. Full match scenarios vital here. Of course I'm no physio, just taking an opinion - but I expect him to start slow and the tigers to ease him into it (Lower TOG, more time forward).

When you get the rolls royce back from the shop you take it around the block a few times first.

‘He’ll still be a powerful beast’: How the Tigers rebuilt slim Dusty

“He lost quite a bit more than 10 kilos; it wasn’t 20 kilos as was reported somewhere, but it was a lot more than 10 kilos. He has put on more than 12 [kilos] and he is probably about two kilos under his playing weight.” Martin normally plays at 92-93 kilograms.

Losing 15 kg and then regaining at least 12 in a short period can't have done wonders for Dusty's running. For now I'm going to assume he'll start slowly and build fitness as the season goes on.

Horse said Isaac Heeney is set to spend more time on the ball next season, a 70/30 midfield/forward split.

My concern is, will Heeney still play midfield if Sydney's key forwards miss games. Reid and Franklin don't fill me with confidence. Reid last 2 years played 10 and 10 games. 35yo Franklin played 10 and 17 games.
Maybe that is why Sydney have signed Paddy McCartin as back-up to play as a key forward, so Heeney plays more midfield?
13 games is the highest McCartin has played in 4 seasons, again, I'm not confident of Heeney playing a 70/30 midfield/forward split.

So with regards to De Goey, do we know whether the Pies or the AFL will sanction him or is it all done now it's been settled in Court?

While I can't stand the bloke, I feel as though he is one of the best FWD options this season. He's already training with the mids and I think it's very likely he continues in the same midfield role in which he was able to score so well during the back-end of last season.

Obviously don't want to pick him if he gets a club imposed suspension or perhaps even a suspension from the AFL for the start of the season though..
