Following on from discussion in MIDs thread, I don't mind this kind of structure. If Preuss looks unmissable I guess you flip Grundy/Darcy to him and get another MID premo.

Let's hope we get enough rookies playing Round 1 for our benches (might not be the cheap prices we all prefer though)

14 keepers (including Coniglio) so 8 upgrades required.

With the trade boosts I'll be finished by rd10. What will I do for the rest of the year? Will have to get a new hobby
I like the confidence

8 perfect bench trade downs to fund 8 onfield upgrades 😀

Don't we need at least 6-8 consecutive games b4 our bench rookies have made enough $$$ ?

So 8 downgrades in Round 7-9.

3 upgrades in Round 10

5 still to go 🤔

The age-old question. I always target cheap upgrades to facilitate quicker finishing so I generally budget for one-up/one-down. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Always one or two must-have higher priced ones that you have to suck it up and get. We always say RD6 to start but usually I do something in RD5 to build a bit of bank to get things rolling. Maybe offloading a dud to gain 80k or something.

In an ideal world I'll be looking to use the full 15 trades RD6-RD10. If I can't get 7 upgrades out of that I'll be sour about it. If I really shop smart, why not aim for 8?

yeah, good to see Hobbs back. I did see earlier he was reported as having an injury and had put a line through him. Todays reported sounds like he really took it up to the 1st. would be good if Hobbs, Lords, McDonagh get a game round 1.

Currently have Baby Macrae and Stephens on the pine (4 premium mids incl Neale). If some cheap rookies turn up, just about could do @Impromptu when he started an 8 rookie mids, using Berry and others priced up $300k.

oooh, trading out Butters, I still have him in my side. Bit cheaper than Dusty, although question is what % midfield time both players get. Dunkley firing as well and Heeney mid time just gets talked up, so now need to work out the latter scoring rate when he plays mids.

Sicily apparently looked good as well, although he has always been a frustrating player to own. Can throw up some low scores. Sounds like Crisp mid time fo 30% cba will not change to much which is good, does better as a defender. Low injury history is good.
Yeh re: Butters I mean he can play some blinders, but then can go missing... His consistency isn't there yet for me, but in saying that I didn't watch many Port games last year!
Can go one of Short or Hall to Sicily down back and bring Gresham up to Butters pretty easily if needs be.

I always seem to have 3-4 bench rookies not playing by Round 3 or 4 so pointless trading them out for little $ (even though I am sure every season I pick the most popular rookies)

Might just plonk Gibcus , JHF , Daicos , Ward , Preuss , Rachele etc on my starting bench 😀

I think this so called $ 150k rookie profit is a myth these days (more mid pricers made the $ 150k+ profit last season than rookies in any case) so you might be on the money getting $ 80-100k per downgrade.

The more successful coaches do seem to trade aggressively from the start , so be quite interesting seeing how they use the 5 trade boost trades.

I might do 3 corrective trades in Round 3 then turn X & Y into 2 premium mids Round 7 via some DPP magic.

How many premos (500k+ Players) do yo need to start to have more mid price players so you can have more expensive rookies on the bench?

Lloyd , Whitfield
Macrae , Steele , Neale
Darcy , Big O
Dunkley

+ Sicily & Heeney

Think I had 11 X $ 200-300 players onfield + JHF

Gave a bench of :-

Gibcus , NWM
Daicos , Ward , Eramus
Preuss
Rachele , Amiss

I really like it
Cheers

Just recreated it from memory , gives me $ 34,600.00 to play with.

8 definite keepers/premiums + Sicily & Heeney.

Just think with no idea of what rookies may/may not play Round 1 it is a lot more realistic not to use $ 123,900.00 (or less) players on our bench , always easier to adjust downwards if the cheap rookies do appear for Round 1.

This far out rookies are a complete guesswork in any case.

This is absolutely what I plan to do. Currently I’m at 14-4-11 (not counting the FD). I see no reason why I can’t be rookie free by rnd7 and full premo by 10 if I kill the MPs. In reality there will injuries and rookie shortages, unwanted FDs and I’ll want to buy someone expensive, but in theory it works. Certainly before the bye.

I think Clark and Hollands you can have on the bench as a cheaper rookie

You've got me thinking about where the $$ came from last year.
There were 33 players in total who cracked the $150k mark, but more common is the $100k to $150k range.
Not surprising there were lots <$100k, and I didn't bother with those who lost money.

I remember posting something that their were more last season in the $ 200-300k bracket that achieved it than the cheaper rookies.

So 16 players priced between $ 100-200k made $ 150k profit.

You wouldn't have a list of those 16 players and their season average ? 😀

I remember at least 3-4 made it late in the season so probably would not have been beneficial to even trade out.

I've added the number of games for context.
I would think that players like Briggs & Reeves could have made more with more games.
Interesting to note that none played a full season, Bergman being the closest with 19 games.
