goat is $1.07 to take out his match vs Manley lol.

He'll win this comp easy, no way he still doesn't have it
Painter and Thornton pose as the biggest threats in his half of the draw with both capable of averaging enough to stay with Taylor over the long format and are still playing in the online leagues as well as competing at Q School recently. Last but not least, do not forget the incomparable and universally loved, Paul Lim, in what would be a dream finish to his career to capture a big title. If I was a betting man, I would take on Taylor for the title, as I feel the prices quoted are far too short with lots of value to be had elsewhere.

I'd give Thornton a shot but I wouldn't be betting against Phil. Just feels wrong

Fellas, I'm really happy that you have all joined to participate and try something different.
I don't know everyone's back story. For some of you maybe it was with the extra motivation of the prizes on offer, and some because you have a larger interest in darts and this will heighten that.

I've tried to figure out a solution, and had chats behind the scenes with Adam (Connoisseur) and Kevin (tso) on how to resolve this. I use these blokes to bounce ideas off as I first presented this idea to them. There's no real way I can come up with a solution that will keep everybody happy.

So I have decided to not change anything. If people can't trust that the decisions that I make are my own and there is generally a tactical motivation behind them and not the use of information that extends to me only, then this isn't the competition for you. We are all going to be fed information through this thread. I am being completely honest when I say my decision to select Wright was initially motivated off the back of about the first half dozen entries posted in the thread all containing Price. Everyone had this information at their disposal, as most chose to post in thread. Adam's table of Cardiff form sealed it for me. Wright had excellent form and topped the chart, whilst Price actually had a pretty average record on his home track. The Wade stuff tactical too. Just as it was for those Anderson selectors, who all handcuffed him to MVG. Just as it was for those Price selectors, mostly all selecting Smith because they had to do that, over one of the other 2 handcu*** that were about the only alternative. I could go on forever. It's a bloody 8 man field.

I hope you stay. If you choose to go, no hard feelings. For the rest of us. Let's just enjoy something different. If it made it to a 2nd year hopefully the things that are learnt along the way can improve it. I'm learning as I go too, and enjoying a renewed interest in a sport I had lost a bit of touch with over the last 5 years.

Well says @The Banker

It takes a lot of passion and dedication to put your hands up to create & administer a new competition, just ask the many wonderful volunteers which we're all fortunate enough to have on SCS. My observation and comment is that these innovative competitions requires a few renditions in order to fine tune and optimise to cater for the many needs and wants of its participants. Obviously, we cannot always satisfy everyone despite our best efforts and intentions.

The most important thing here is that you should be commended for taking the plunge, particularly as it's not one of the mainstream sports. Thanks to your initiative and endeavour, the sport of dart has a new fan albeit a very novel one at that, so you've achieved your purpose in bringing more awareness to the game.

I still don't know what's the best strategy to take into this competition or how best to distribute the points system...I may never will. With that says, I don't regret in my decision to 'give it a go' and have watched a couple of highlights, googled some players and even looked up some stats in the process.

I cannot speak on behalf of other well learned participants but you have my full support.

Agree completely with @THCLT, you are doing a great job. I know the amount of effort needed to run competitions on here, and for this to be going relatively smoothly still is commendable in itself. It will be very rare to get it perfect from the start.

The next round kicks off at 6:10 am Eastern according to my live scores app if anyone wanted to update the topic title.

Thanks.

And that’s what I’m trying to work out too with strategy and points, for two reasons. Firstly when trying to pick a team. Secondly, are the balances right for the competition, time will tell on that one. Obviously it favours selecting winners, as most fantasy sports do.

I’m going to disclose a few of my thoughts, not to influence selections but more to encourage strategy.
On picking a team I will relate this to week 1 where I felt the Wright route presented a better option for me in taking a selection in each match.
Whereas I look at the fixture for week 2 and im unclear on my strategy for this one, and the first thing that stands out to me is the choice between selecting Price or Wright. If I take Price and I want to select a winner in each match, then I take MVG. Personally, I'm not rapt in what I have seen with MVG so far. If I take Wright, then I take Anderson with the same approach. Price got beaten in round 1, but how long does that last. Blokes number 1 in the World. So I'm on the fence of whether to go for the outright 4 selections, or hedge a match. Should some stats be brought into the thread that support a decision, that's where I will probably go.

The important thing to remember, it's just a game. I'm trying to create as much strategy so that it keeps it interesting for you guys. The salary cap. The PM entry. The bonus points. The ability to change selections.

Going to tentatively enter with

Cullen (c)
Price
Smith
Clayton

I have given a detailed rundown of my potential round tactics to @Connoisseur
Should I see some stats that sway towards anything of the essay (😂) I wrote to him, then that may change this team. But it’s my early thoughts and we will see what happens.
