Lloyd Meek is such a unit, has to be the best ruck not getting a game right now. Just a serious mover at that size.

Darcy looks in ripping shape in the footage, genuinely looks like an AFL player for the first time.

Clark clearly off half back. Henry clearly on a wing from the highlights.

O'Driscoll is everywhere in the highlights.

Midfield definitely has to be a big area of concern for the Dockers.

Given Tucker getting midfield minutes, is he to unknown to back in the issue?

The first 4 games of 2020 he attended 71/50/55/73% CBA for scores of 76/79/90/86. Not inspiring on those numbers, not sure if I am missing anything else beside awkward price.

He's definitely one to watch. His kicking is a massive issue though so is going to need to get a lot of it. I can't see why they'd be using him over Fyfe, Mundy, Serong or Brayshaw but it gets questionable from that point onward and Fyfe is probably going to need some serious easing into the season if he's there at all early and realistically they should be trying to phase Mundy out a bit for their future.

Tucker can be a real pig, I'd say Ben Keays is the best comparison I can find for his upside potential, Taranto another but Taranto can do much more as a forward. In the right role he can probably brute force his way to a 105 type average which at his price would be an amazing outcome but I'd say he's more likely to be a 2nd tier mid at Freo and that something more akin to a Harmes type is what you'll get. Probably not quite enough even at that price to be a keeper but probably just enough cash generation to be an overall pass. FWIW Harmes made ~100k by the byes from a slightly higher starting point averaged low 90s.

Tom Doedee took a big step towards featuring in Adelaide’s internal trial on Friday as he recovers from a concussion.
The Crows’ captain-in-waiting suffered a concussion in training 12 days ago and on Monday he was taking part in match simulation — albeit it wearing a fluoro hat.
The Crows will have their internal trial on Friday, ahead of a trip to Queensland to take on Brisbane in a practice game the following week and Doedee could now play a part in the hit-up as he continues to recover strongly from a concussion.

While Doedee was in the thick of things at West Lakes on Monday, Paul Seedsman was not outside as he continues to deal with lingering concussion symptoms from one he copped pre-Christmas.

Crows senior Matthew Nicks said on Triple M that Seedsman was having “ups and downs” with his recovery.
Boom recruit Jordan Dawson left the track early on Monday, but this was just management ahead of Friday’s internal trial.
Defender Andrew McPherson was also managed on Monday, while Sam Berry copped a knock to the shin in match sim but was OK.
Lachie Murphy (neck surgery) and Elliott Himmelberg (hamstring) trained away from the main group.
Selection hints
The Crows coaches slightly changed things up with the “stronger” blue side on Monday.
Riley Thilthorpe and Darcy Fogarty were in the whites, which left Taylor Walker and youngster Lachie Gollant forward for the blues.
After being on the yellow team on Friday Lachie Sholl and Nick Murray were both on the blue side.
Doedee played for the whites alongside Fischer McAsey and James Borlase in defence.
Draftee Jake Soligo continues to loom as a potential bolter, in the blue side once again — even with Josh Rachele back on the track.
Soligo laid an impressive tackle on fellow youngster Luke Pedlar and looked solid with the ball in hand.
Sholl said Soligo, and the other draftees had settled in well.
“Jakey is doing really well, he’s been training really well and looks the goods,” he said.

Crows draftee Jake Soligo continues to exceed all expectations.
Crouching Tiger
The blue midfield had the experience with Reilly O’Brien, Rory Sloane, Rory Laird, Ben Keays and Matt Crouch lining up.
Crouch has been on the weaker sides in recent weeks but with games against other sides starting in just under two weeks he seems to be returning to top form at the right time.
Sholl said it was a huge boost for the Crows.
“He brings a lot of experience along with the things he is so good at, his ball winning ability and his on ground leadership as well,” he said.
“He makes everyone walk a little bit taller with the experience he has got and you walk taller with him too.”

He was shadowed by Jackson Hately, who will be looking for a big year after just the three games in 2021.
The former GWS Giant was able to find a fair amount of the ball, but at 191cm he just bounced off the 177cm Laird when he tried to tackle the Crows reigning club champion.
“No doubt” over Milera
Wayne Milera is continuing to make solid progress this pre-season as he recovers from a torn patella.
While he didn’t take part in a hard running session set for players by Darren Burgess at the end of the session — he along with Shane McAdam, Crouch and McAsey did their own running after some quick handballs — he is getting through match sim.
Again playing for the blue side Milera looks to be on track for Round 1 in good news for the Crows.

Sholl said while he has been out of action for the best part of two years he was confident Milera would return to his best.
“There’s no doubt that he can get back to his best,” he said.

Hawks best 22 is an absolute crap shoot at this point. They've all got to be chances but it wont be easy. Really depends on how focused to the future Mitchell wants to get as opposed to trying to win right now.

It's the most up in the air best 22 in the league for mine but here's an attempt, bolded guys are the "clear best 22" guys.

B - Hardwick Hartigan Impey
HB - Scrimshaw Sicily Jiath
C - Day JOM Bramble
HF - Wingard Gunston Moore
F - Breust Lewis McEvoy
R - Reeves Mitchell Worpel

Int - Shiels Howe Newcombe Frost

Lynch is right there with Reeves.
Kosi, DGB, Jeka and Callow would all be in the mix for KP posts I'd think.
Downie, MacDonald, Maginness, Ward, Morrison, Phillips, Nash and Ward are all absolutely chances through midfield/HF type roles.
Morris and Brockman could put pressure on small forward spots.

Even on that list you've got Wingard, Gunston and Day who are all high chances to miss games.

Basically the kids should have chances to win spots and keep them if they play well. Guys like Morrison, Howe, Shiels, Impey, Worpel and Nash have all had chances to cement spots and not really done it (Shiels aside but he's 31 and even in his prime was more warrior than gun), if the kids can show more than that group then the chances are there.

Even looking at the clear best 22 guys Moore and Day are the only two under 25.

Would definitely be interested in your take. The one thing I don't have my finger on the pulse of is the injuries that can throw openings up.

I find it very difficult as if there were half as many I'd say any of the HBF types would be locks but with Scrimshaw, Jiath, Impey, Day and Bramble you've basically got 5 into 3, although I do really like the idea of Bramble and Day up the field where they can be making the kicks inside 50 more often and also for their ability to break lines through the midfield. Realistically Jiath could offer similar but think he's got more to offer as an intercept player.

Having said that, Hawks are one of the few teams where the most likely available minutes are actually through the midfield as most of their clearer best 22 guys are forwards or backs.

I did post a team earlier in this thread for a Rd 1 team (Post 83), but to be honest you don't know much until the first match against proper competition, and even then you don't want to rely completely on intra clubs. Think Day is unlikely for Rd 1, still not back in full training, apart from that I think most are back. There was a training wrap posted yesterday on BF, I'll try and track that down later today.

Thats a big ?? for me with Milera. Sounds like he's not quite 100% so even if he starts Rd1, he may not have the SC output required for his price.:unsure:

Hmm, seems I was wrong and Day was back doing a lot of drills on Monday, it was Impey who was missing. Still a few not doing full participation too, but he was the biggest no show.

Hawthorn and Carlton were meant to have an intra club this Thursday, it has been called off. I was probably as interested in seeing what the Blues did for a Walsh replacement, as seeing the Hawks line up but will have to wait now.

- Anyone got an updated schedule for me ... I know it was posted somewhee but lost a lot of my bookmarks this week :(
