Think he means because we will see Dees/Dogs teams on Tue, Blues/Tigers on Wed. So 4 teams before Thursday teams.
Ohh that's a relief. It shouldn't be too bad. there probably won't be any WB or Mel rookies. If there is, I doubt they will be worth taking. So it should only be Rich and Car rookies that could pose a question. The rest of the teams will be locked before Fri nights game.

I miss counted. I have six, four onfield and two on the bench plus Coleman, Pole, JHF, Goniglio and Curnow on field.
At what prices do we make or distinctions of players?
Would this be correct?
Rookies <$200K
Expensive rookies $200K - $300K
Mid Price $300K - $500K
Premium $500K - $600K
Uber Premium >$600K

Probably silly to be thinking too hard about this before preseason games but I am starting to warm to the idea of skipping JFH.

The strongest argument for including him is risk management, I think. Seems unlikely he'll be such a dud pick that he hurts those who start him, and it's good to guard against the possibility he lives up to the hype completely and earns a bigger mid rotation and is one of the must-starts.

But even the players who turn into real SC studs generally don't go huge in that mid/fwd role first year. 70-75 seems to be about the ceiling, which is a good result but doesn't kill non-starters.

With the wealth of options 200k-300k, some of whom seem pretty safe bets to score in that similar price+35 range, and also with imposing ceilings that could hurt non-starters, I'm feeling less and less that JFH is the autopick I had been assuming.

EDIT: This is probably more relevant to the DT convos. Think I sometimes just slide the same rookies across but even if JFH is must-start in SC I reckon it's highly possible he doesn't work out so will in the DT games.

I hope that's the case, but I haven't heard anything ( or maybe missed it ) so I assumed we were staying with the 24hr notice for team announcement.
I thought Sunday teams are finalised 5pm Saturday.

That is good, will not be holding cash back. Most critical player whether 50/50 rookie, 450k possible break out or returning injury player and $200-360k player is playing after 5pm Saturday, allowing flexibility for structure to be determine.

Outside of a few minutes to the GWS game, will then evaluate these name and decide do I break up a 450k player or not into expensive rookie or not. Will have 3 hours to sort team out.

The tricky ones will be if Kelly (pies if named), do I take him? Not sure who else will fall into this camp that is being talked about. Gibcus, probably would take him.

The positives are the Rowells, Brisbane mid pricers, 450k players all are post 5pm Saturday. Once we know rookies we can move th eopther pieces around them. If need extra mid, will be Touk I guess instead of Oliver who is locked out.

Premium - will select and hold hopefully.

This is what it went back to after the poll last year:

Will Kelly
Hawk Ward

Both should be considered
Yeah I can't agree with the Will Kelly call. I see he's a fixture in a lot of lineups too.

Undoubted talent and I obviously want it all to work for him but he's a tall who suffered under Buckley's indecision as to whether to play him forward or back and so his development has suffered. He ruptured a hamstring tendon in his first year (par for the course under the Davorkian/White reign of terror I guess) and has since played 3 games for 3 DNF's which has stilted his development further. He had a real nice first kick in AFL footy and showed a lot of mobility up forward. But remember, we haven't had a mobile tall forward of note since Chris Tarrant's first tilt with us* so it's easy for us to get carried away with that 5-possessions-from-71%-TOG game he played against an ailing Hawthorn squad in Sydney one night.

*Yeah Darcy Moore showed us some signs up forward in his early years in between having his hamstrings separated from his legs I guess. I hear our old S&C guy has gone to Arden St now. Here's hoping for their sake that he's learned a bit over summer.

Cheap DPP rookie that's a chance of games is pretty much enough that he's going to appear in a lot of teams. Durability is an absolute stinker, not something you say about rookies very often, but other than that there's not much to hate. More mature aged, role would be fine. Jones and Kosi made good cash in teams of similar to lesser quality last year.

I mean he's not an ideal pick but if he's an option I'd very much be considering him.

Pace, poise and a brilliant left foot kick. He's ready for round 1, no worries
Very tough team to break into, he's a chance but the JS will be poor, well o***et by strong scoring potential though. He'd be a really hard choice if there are other options down back! Kind of rookie that's making 200k or nothing from what I've seen. Basically if he works he'll be huge, if he doesn't it's because he's playing SANFL!

With Chesser now ?? for round 1 what do we think of Boyd ??

- I'm half inclined to keep Chesser but my inner gut is saying that if he can't make round 1 ... then how long until he gets a better chance ...

Tend to agree .... lots of reasons I like him ... looks like an awesome pick up ...

- But I keep looking at who he pushes out to get a gig ... need to see the next PS game for me before picking him in my side ..

For mine it's Duursma that is the most vulnerable name on their best 22 that plays his position. While he has stagnated really badly as a player, he's still not an easy out. It's a really deep list.

Kosi can take a mark, yeah? Will's got concrete hands. Probably the only bones in his body that he'll never break.

I should stop dumping on him. I'm just bitter on account of the high hopes I had for him when we drafted him. He could go alright if they play him back. Each spoil is worth points and he'll see a lot play down that end. But we need him forward because of the complete lack of mobility with our talls up front. Mihocek is 'bustling' at best and Cox/Cameron will be the other tall, both of whom lumber a lot. It's why we threw the Kreuger hail Mary.

Kelly is good at ground level for a tall which makes up for his inability to clunk them and we will be rushing it forward faster under the new regime than we did under Buckley and Co. So maybe he can get his 55 - 60 a game. But as a Pies man, I'd be stoked to actually see him finish a game. 0 from 3 doesn't fill me with confidence.

Agreed. I think that on balance though, he's too good to leave out. When a kid is that ready to go, you play him IMV. And giving him that start in March is much more preferable to giving him a start closer to or in finals.

Their first game is in Brisbane, before having 3 games in SA, including against Adelaide and Hawthorn. Showdown games might be pretty intense but Adelaide is an easier test at the moment that interstate against a top 4 rival. Maybe he gets held back a week, which would be unfortunate.
