I wouldn’t be reading too much into how well premiums play in preseason unless we’re looking at a small role change for someone like Ridley.

Parish started getting tagged late last year which was the only reason he stopped going totally ballistic, that fact makes Merrett a handy upgrade option post bye as I think he’ll more easily hit a 115 avg with less attention this year.

Reckon Shiel coming back in the squad impacted him too. Didn't Parish start to take off when Shiel left the side earlier in the year?

Yes it was Shiel's injury that offered Parish the opportunity but he's shown that he's too good to leave out now. Which is why we're seeing McGrath who was almost a full time mid now move to HB. I don't think Shiel coming back is going to diminish any of his output

JHF ended up with 20 possessions & 5 clearances playing on a team that got belted, they are much better stats than I was expecting, considering most thought he was quiet.

Yep, those stats surprise me. I’d say most of them were from that 3rd quarter where he was at his best. Maybe I missed a few touches when I was ‘working’.

Laurie didn't play so seems a fair way off.

Mahony bobbed up here and there. I think he kicked 2 goals for the match. Think he'll be around the 55-60 average mark as a small forward.

So what have we got... 30% of CBAs and when he was in there he was shoulder to shoulder with Oliver so it would have been a good effort to get anything away there. He wasn't just playing CB and running forward either. I saw him all over the ground. He's still a watch for mine. I'd like to see him against not-the-best-midfield in town

I think we have to factor in that three of their main mids weren’t playing either. It’s highly unlikely that he will spend as much time in the middle when they have their full compliment of mids.

He could still score well enough for a rookie priced player playing predominately as a half-forward but it’s unlikely he racks up 20 disposals per game when the real stuff starts I would have thought.

For anyone surprised by the scores or thinking they're a bit weird, these games had 8 extra players involved and looks like it was still capped at 3300 points. That plus last quarter scaling for the guys who ended the day early mean there is probably some adjustments needed to replicate it to standard AFL games.
