Coleman is becoming popular.

Is that a reaction to that rookie situation or he’s a really good pick in his own right?
Probably both.. plus the more popular he gets the less risky it is to jump on meaning more are swayed towards starting him.

Definitely think his role (on paper at least) looks strong and the absence of cheaper, better picks makes him close to a no brainer. That said, he isn't locked as a lot could happen between now and round 1, and definitely don't think he has the security/upside of a Coniglio type.

Not sure if my team is getting better or worse the longer pre season goes for. Fire away with any feedback
Love that you've got some different names in your team mate. I like the Clark and Hewitt picks in isolation, but at their prices you are probably picking them to be keepers and with only one spot left in your defence for an upgrade, you are eliminating the opportunity to grab some of what will probably be the best defensive scorers in Lloyd, Crisp, Stewart etc.

I like the Kelly and Brayshaw picks in the midfield, not sure you need the Cripps selection, especially as it appears to have come at the detriment to your R2. As far as I am aware, Preuss isnt even guaranteed to get a game at this stage? So you might need to look at culling one of your mids (Cripps would be my choice) and upgrading Preuss.

The Naughton pick is an interesting one, to me it kind of feels like you had a spot to fill and not quite enough cash so you settled on him? If you can free up some more cash, i'd look at trying to upgrade him.

So i'd look at Clark or Hewitt to Maybe Coleman? Cripps to Stephens? Preuss to someone like a marshall? Naughton to a Bailey/Thomas or someone there abouts? Just food for thought

Thanks for the feedback. Some good points in there.

Re Naughton I am looking for the one Key forward that goes nuts in the first 5 rounds every year (Walker last season) . Was deciding between Cameron and Naughton and cash lead me to Naughton

We are all in this little boat Herbs.
Not really , just actually use players that might realistically have a chance of playing Round 1 for starters helps immensely.

Players are picking rookies onfield that are not even playing practice games , let alone 3-4 $ 102k players on the bench that are nowhere near playing Round 1.

I meant non-playing bench rookies (not confident with any of my mid bench) but I take your point

v0.9
B: Lloyd, Short, Whitfield, Sicily, Hinge, Sinn (O'Driscall, Kelly)
M: Macroe, Oliver, A.Brayshaw, Neale, Martin, H-Francis, N.Daicos, Ward (Stephens, Mead, Parker)
R: Gawn, Naitanui (Hayes)
F: Treloar, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Rachele, Hollands (Comben, Long)

Honestly what i am debating:
1. Not sure how many decent rookie defenders we will get. If not many picked round 1 may need to go Milera as D5. Or similar.
2. If enough def rookies are picked, can go with this structure. Essentially 4, 5, 2, 2 premiums + fairly expensive rookies
3. Tempted by Preuss as R3 but not R2. I think he won't be their number one ruck. Also debating between Grundy and NicNat. With the later only being in 5% of teams he is tempting.
4. I think Martin, Treloar and Butters will be top 6-8 forwards. So don't mind starting all three. Normally i wouldn't start Martin in the midfield but I like my F4,5,6. Brodie showed a lot in the practice game. As did Rachele. Holland a no brainer.

Other players I llike / tempted by: Day (if fit will start him but seems unlikely for round 1.); T.Mitchell; Curnow; Grundy; Crisp; Reeves (although perhaps Lynch ahead so will just go two premiums); Milera; Rowell; Dunkley; Berry

My bench was setup as :-

Kemp , Dean
Sinn , Maginness , Mead
Hayes
Durdin , SDK (links with Coleman & McCartin)

Since then injuries to Kemp & Dean.

I guess my thoughts are I can easily make adjustments using the higher priced players rather than filling it with cheaper players who don't even look like playing.

Not even convinced half of my bench are named Round 1 , see it as a total waste of time using 3-4 $ 124k or less players when they are not even close to playing then making wholesale adjustments in any case.

Guess I am trying more G&R which means I need the higher priced rookies on field and not on the bench. Cause if you are benching the 150k rookies I hate to think which ones are playing and/or how prem your prems are.

Hinge , McCartin
JHF, Daicos , Ward (or D Stephens)
Rachele

hoping Sicliy , Heeney, Butters, Coniglio are all premiums

Coleman, Berry & Curnow are my midpricers , may need a alternative for Curnow

So 13-3-6 setup

Confident in :-

Lloyd, Whitfield
Macrae, Steele , Brayshaw (?) , Neale
Gawm , Grundy - both subject to change
Dunkley

being premiums

Brayshaw will have to be sacrificed if I need extra $$$

probably got it completely all wrong at this stage , and everything will change depending on Round 1 rookies

I like it, I've got nothing bad to say and you can justify every selection. For me I'm really nervous about leaving Rowell out, which is funny as I was never really bullish on him through out most of the pre-season but watching him play and seeing that score from CD on the weekend has me nervous. He really does change a structure though. I think at least this way if Rowell does fire and you don't get what you want out of say a Brayshaw/Sicily/Heeney/Butters you could probably move one sideways to jump on, but I like it.
Thoughts on Lipinski as a viable option for Rowell (or just try and find a 4th onfield rookie mid), suspect if the rookies don't arrive I will need to sacrifice Brayshaw for $.

I didn't even think of that; I just noticed I had 4 lions in and thought someone might notice it.
Still thinking whether I stick with Big O or not which would make 4 Lions, keen on Bailey as well

4 starting mid rookies might become even more popular (even though that side has 5)

love the forward line
