Tonight’s the night.

Wonder if N Daicos’ strong PSD performance may change anything at pick No.1
Yes tonight is the night 8pm if I recall correctly.

Not really a concern for me at 4, but there have been a few rookies that have shone bright lights on themselves this weekend, lol.

I've got 2 picked for 4, so will be happy with either, although the second choice would probably help my team more in the short term.

Teams have until Wednesday evening to decide and enter any Free Agents drafted during the Pre-Season Draft. I've highlighted the cells in yellow. Once this has been completed, and I've transferred to the Teams doc, then trading can commence.

Draft Night is always fascinating, especially seeing how everyone rates players differently. A few bolters and sliders to how I rated them.

Lol at myself thinking I was going to pick a bolter in Ned Moyle at pick 26, only for Tim to beat me at 15, with Ken saying he would also have taken him before me.

Very much true in terms of rating players differently, however there is more nuance to it than simply that aspect. There are list needs to consider, as well as the fact that Tim had 5 picks and I had 4 picks before your 2nd at pick 26. I'd have gotten my need for quality MIDs fulfilled in my first 3 picks and the chance to pick up a #2/#3 ruck would have been too hard to pass up. Tim got himself handcuff rucks.

Thanks Ken - brilliant set up as always.

Think my team page and dashboard in the preseason workbook are still playing up, both still showing a very tight cap. The actual team doc agrees exactly to my workings last night, so I am going to use that.

Can i confirm Three things:

1. There was talk last night of "back ending" contracts for buddy, I know that example was quashed, however where do we enter the contract split if we do give free agents 2 plus year contracts?
2. What defines the rookie contract V free agent? Mitchell Hinge for example is 5th year in system, but only a rookie and automatic 2 years. Is it price or history in our comp?
3. Do we have a tightly defined rule on LTI, think this was may get a little contentious nearing the mid-season draft, so would be best to have a clear defined rule? E.g out for season (or 12 weeks) on AFL.com.au

1. Drafted players only have the option of the number of years, their salary is set. We got caught up trying to solve Tim's being over the salary cap rather than going back to the rules.

2. Price and history. He is rookie priced and was not on a list last season, so therefore treated as a rookie. Thomson Dow on the other hand was on a list last season, had someone drafted him he still would have been classified as a 2YC player.

3. I don't think it can be that cut and dry. Out for the season obviously is, but long term injury isn't.
Preseason a long term injury, such as McLean not coming back until August, means that he is unavailable for the SCSUL regular season, so LTI list eligible. Sheed on the other hand is out for 3 months but will be back for the 2nd half of the season isn't.
Now midseason becomes trickier. Out until mid June/start of August has different impacts depending on when the injury occurs. If it happens week 2 that player is dead weight for nearly all of the SCSUL regular season. If it happens week 9, the team has had 9 weeks of scoring plus the potential for 2-3 more games. The team enduring the first scenario deserves the possibility of compensation/relief whilst the team enduring the second scenario probably doesn't.
Definitely using the AFL site and all it's information for injuries.

Connor Downie Salary in Draft (now removed) not in Team doc.

'Indefinate' would have to be the worst description possible, it is really 'no-mans-land' in regards to an injury. At least with Sheed although it is a pain in the butt they have given some kind of time frame (earlier it was 3-4 months, which would mean late season, but is listed as TBC now, which is again a bit in 'no-mans-land), but Cunnington as 'indefinate' is no help at all, lol.

There is some talk now that Chesser is now worse than first thought and he could be out for the season, but at this stage nothing 'official has been released.

I guess all I can do is wait for a better confirmation on Sheed and Cunnington and hope it is not to late for this season to be a total waste in regards to these players.

1. Thought that at the time, however was hoping I was wrong.

2. So it is effectively a combination of under 200k and not on a list last year? Must admit, drafted him thinking I could lock him in longer, but I should have understood that rule better.

3. Surely if two players are out for the exact same time period come day before mid-season draft cut off, they will be treated the same (regardless of time out before that day)? Just think it sets up for perceived bias if it all comes down to discretion. That $410k could be crucial, people will push for it. Feel like it puts unfair pressure on yourself to make a call. If it was say 10 weeks per AFL.com.au injury list (not articles) it is clear cut, no debate and then the coach makes the call, as you said the player may come back, but if on the LTI list they won't be able to play for SCS UL purposes.

Doesn't remove the option to include someone through discretion, just makes the elibility clear cut. Indefinate or mental health (Zac Jones) are clear examples of uncertainty where it may be needed.
