Short might have to become Hewett to allow some better rookie cover, basically my current side once hed done that, just think well need the more expensive cover this year for cash gen and genuine cover purposes even if you have to sacrifice a genuine premium to do it, better than getting stuck with a bunch of rookies that don't generate any cash and provide very poor cover if we have to turn to them with Covid outs.
Yep, another good option

Very similar to mine there Shannon. 20 x same players

Def: L.Ryan, Short, Whit, Sicily, Hewett, ODriscoll (Kelly, Dean)

Mid: Macrae, Oliver, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, J.Berry, N.Daicos, Ward (D.Stephens, MacDonald, Parker )

Rucks: Darcy, Grundy (J.Hayes)

Fwd: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele, (De Konig, Dixon)

90% complete obviously waiting on rookies rnd1 etc

Am almost tempted to field Witts R2 to get Preuss r3 so by rnd 6 has ruck fwd dpp if he plays as fwd, with a few games #1 ruck for Giants?

Looking at earlier chart for 200k rookies i think Preuss most likey to avg 80 to 90 with Daicos Xerri and Ward

If McGuiness rnd 1 might drop Rachele down to him to get McCartin

Dean is out for 6-10 weeks btw, O’Driscoll & Kelly seem outside the best 22 for round 1 along with Parker,

Brave man not taking JHF, do you feel he is too expensive?

Well this is where I am at with the team.

Top 3 explain themselves, good history of playing full season, I have been keen on Hewitt all preseason, Hinge looks like a defensive wing role and Gibcus sounds like he has decent JS.

Mids. Steele and Miller with Tracca and Neale is a given. Rowell and Berry too difficult to look past . No JFH as I cannot see him getting too much time in the mid rotation and ward is cheaper with confirmed mid rotation.

Grundy is a given. English got around the ground Nicely, and slots into R2 until the byes. Contract year I think? and expect the Coach to increase Ruck time. English physically looks stronger with improved endurance. Still undecided on R3, Pruess is on the radar, injury is my main concern and now missing round one.

Dunkley and Butters , have dropped Heeney, didn't like his role, and Cogs role was better than I imagined, which allowed me to strengthen F4 F5. Brodie looks as if a pure midfield role awaits and Xerri was the real surprise of the preseason and looks to share the ruck duties with Goldy.

Just hope my bench rookies show up for RD 1…… will downgrade Lloyd to a Whitfield or Ridley to free up some cash if needed.

to pruess or not to preuss that is the question....

Good Luck Coaches.

Hello

Does anyone have a suggestion for an upgrade, I am already considering the rucks or bringing in Berry to the midfield?

Thank you for taking time to reply...
For me if I were running the rucks like that, which for the record I've no issues with Witts at R2 but I'd be downgrading Preuss to maybe a Martin (rookie) in the Forwards (if he plays) move Hayes to R3 and upgrade Durdin to English (fwd keeper and ruck coverage)

At this rate if I go down the value premo mid route, I have 2 of Ward, Daicos, JHF, Stephens on the bench, lol.
Rachele , Ward , D Stephens is my mid bench if I want all of :-

Macrae , Steele , Neale , Cripps , Rowell , Berry , JHF , Daicos

Now weighing up how to fit in all of Brodie , Curnow , McGovern , Xerri @ F5-6 (use Durdin/Maginness , SDK as the bench) so keep Cripps & Rowell or start 2 more F/M in the mids.

I have succumb to mid-price madness post JLT community series.

Def: I think based off the JLT, the max number of rookies you can have on field is two. Apart from McCartin (who has significant injury history) all the rookies selected have question marks on job security. To squeeze in Rowell I’ve had to select Hewitt and I’m not in love with the pick. The role looked good however think he is one of those risky types who will be a pain point for a number of weeks.

Mid: Macrae/Touk/Neale all locked in. I see Cripps as a fallen premium whereas I Rowell as more of a stepping stone. After seeing Rowell CBA numbers I’m very keen on him as he has returned to that inside mid role. Cripps I’m still uncertain of. Can he stay fit all season? Most likely to be changed if an additional rookie is named.
Berry/JHF/Daicos/Ward/Stephens a long list of high priced mid rookies but they have the best JS and scoring potential. I can see the rookie roulette causing headaches in the mids this year but if they all play and score well then can’t complain!

Rucks: I have had Darcy all preseason. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but he wasn’t moving very well. He did churn out two monster scores on one leg last year so he could start strong and bite me but needed something to make way for the expensive rookies/deep mids.
English looked strong but don’t think he can keep up with the big 3 of Gawn/Grundy/Darcy. Haven’t really thought of how I’ll get Gawn/Darcy in and need to create that plan before I lock in this structure.

Fwds: I don’t think I’ve ever gone as mid-price as I have here. Heeney and Thomas’s roles caused me to drop and bought in the three mid-pricers in Brodie/McGovern & Xerri. I don’t like having Rachele on the bench so could go McGovern to Durdin or another rookie if named. Think he has a higher upside than Xerri but his halfstrings are made of glass.

Definitely not married to the side. It does look good on paper but when you factor in injury risk, new clubs, potential for roles to change I start to get really worried.

Obvious option would be to drop Cripps and sure up Hewitt/English and probably what I’m leaning towards.

Keen for peoples thoughts!

A week ago I never thought I would see so many teams with Cripps and Rowell in them. This includes mine by the way :giggle:
To be honest it's been really interesting to watch the trend move towards pretty identical structures, especially in the mids and forwards. Guess having a Wednesday night opener will steer people towards players who are more likely to play!
