I love Butters as an option but the back rookies are genuinely challenging me on whether I can start him. When you've got Brodie, Curnow, McGovern, Rachele and Xerri all as viable on field choices in comparison to Boyd, Kelly or Gibcus, I'm just having a hard time seeing the latter group being the better options.

I guess you can make the case to ditch one of the Oliver et al group instead and move Brodie to the mids or something but still...

Looking at this team is making me rethink my team structure.

She has the top 3 but her on-field playing rookies don't seem to be compromised at all.
Her bench feels like it's somewhere between unrealistic and pipe dream though.

If we get 5 117k or less guys that look set to play 6+ games I'd be genuinely shocked, delighted given what it allows, but shocked. Throw in Sinn and Hinge and perhaps even Xerri (who is the cheapest in that bracket by a good chunk) and I think there will be a lot of restructuring going on to a team very similar to that.

I was hoping there would be some debate about this team. I had the combined reaction of both of you. She does say WIP so expect this is not her best team yet,

Impressed she had 3 premium midfielders, giving up Cripps and Rowell that will be reasonably popular. Yet is a win for her.

Then looking at the bench I thought a little light. Hard to say how much cash she has, assuming she is close to zero given some of the picks. You would think Gibcus over Sinn just because the former will play. No issue with Martin (lets hope he plays) and Hayes, yet Dixon is effectively going to be a dead F8 as Darling back and Allen not out for long. Hough on the cheaper side, thought a 123k placeholder would be better.

I think unless you want to compromise a few rookie positions which will just burn trades in time, it is a choice of no Miller/Steele or one of them.

Very unbalanced this year, too many bargain Forwards to choose from and not enough bargain Defenders.

No wonder the SuperCoiach Gods are having a good laugh watching us planning our team. :D

I've just dropped Oliver out for a back premium

I think it still looks just as viable as a side, but I've got $100k loose change and nothing really to use it for. Maybe Charlie Curnow on the bench???

Brodie & Coniglio in the mids gives you 2 ultra premiums to start and allows 2 of Heeney & Butters + gives you Curnow , McGovern , Xerri onfield (Rachele & Durdin bench)

Lose Heeney & Butters you can get Cripps & Rowell.

Still have Gawn & Grundy.

Problem is still have rookie @ D5 & D6 (and Sicily & Hewett) , almost then get a Blakey , Chapman , Bowey , Richards price type @ D5.

Note D1 & D2 is Short & Whitfield.

Mind you my bench is all priced higher than Durdin except for J Hayes so if the cheap rookies are named could find myself $ 100-300k possibly

I like that side if the likes of Sicily/Hewett/Rowell/Cripps are good enough to hold most of the season/dont get injured, otherwise we very quickly need to use alot of trades to actually complete a side and are chasing alot of players that aren't going to be cheap.

Try looking at Rioli , Blakey , Chapman , Bowey , Richards price types with Sicily & Hewett , might surprise you how strong the other lines then become.

That's the risk we all have to weigh up , I keep moving the jigsaw pieces around and keeps coming back if I want to start that second ultra premium mid I really need 4 of the Butters , Cripps , Heeney , Hewett , Rowell , Sicily.

Plenty of $ 200-300k forward options , I guess it then is a matter of how many of JHF , Daicos , Ward & D Stephens we want onfield.

Get 3 cheap mid bench rookies and the whole structure changes again.

I look at Hinge & Gibcus at D5 & D6 and then see Rachele , Ward & Stephens on my bench and think mmmm

Neale & M1 allows a 5 premium starting defender side.

Dunkley & Whitfield starting in the mids opens up all sorts of possibilities as well .

Hopefully Monday & Tuesday we get some Round 1 debutante news and start actually locking in some players and positions.

I think we need to be picking Rachele,Stephens and Ward to actually bring some cash gen through to be honest, have no confidence rookies on any other line are going to do it.

Totally agree.

Almost time to stay away for a few days and wait for Round 1 teams then completely change our teams in any case.
