Were a few posts possibly mentioning something , haven't seen any confirmation though.

Easy fix once teams are announced if he is missing.

In reality will probably need to lose one of Heeney/Butters and put those $$$ into a stronger D5.

Rookies D5-D8 don't look viable to me , Round 7 is a long time to wait for Daicos.

His scoring will be up and down due to the nature of playing up forward in what will still be a weaker team this season. His willingness to apply pressure and ability to hit the scoreboard gives me confidence that he'll have one or two spike games at some point which will push his price up to allow you to upgrade him somewhat easily.

Plus the job security makes him a really good loophole candidate when the teams start thinning out in a few weeks.

Literally none of that has anything to do with De Goey getting a fine...

AFL players hold a privileged position and with that comes obligations, of which they are well versed in.

He was charged for violence against women and like many women before and unfortunately many to come she may not have got the justice she deserved. Only the charge against a bloke stood in the end.

If you are trying obfuscate your lack of commitment to gender equality there isn't a much better time to release lack of punishment.

The AFL statement completely neglected the gender based aspect. It chose the narrow road, the low road, and tried to hide it.

How many of McGovern, Xerri, Brodie, Naish are people planning on fielding? Seriously considering running them all (F3-F6) and strengthening down back.

Now thinks get interesting on this line if the likes of Rachele , McCartin , Durdin , Baldwin etc are viable (onfield and bench)

Assuming Dunkley is a lock @ F1 do we drop the Bailey/Butters/de Goey/Heeney/Thomas price types or drop the Brodie , Coniglio , Curnow , McGovern , Naish , Ralphsmith , Xerri etc types instead ?

I’m struggling to get excited about Xerri as a pick, is anyone else? See him popping up in lots of teams.

Yes, there’s the possibility of ruck time, and rookies are tight this year but the guy played 8 games in a row last year for an average of 38… Thirty. Eight. Not much to get excited about for $200k.

I see in the stats he was getting hit outs too, so I’m guessing he spent some time in the ruck? Or was he playing predominantly as a forward?

I want to pick him excitedly hoping for ~80 average, but I’m struggling to see it…

Compare to Goldstein who had 1306 ruck contests from 22 games, you can see he wasn't doing a large amount of ruck work last year. Goldy had over 50% hit outs won and 30.7% to advantage, clearly Goldy was the #1 last year. Xerri definitely a risky pick on those numbers, but Goldy is getting older.

CCJ was 61/157 for hit outs, 26.2% to advantage for comparison, but I'd argue Richmond had better players to get the ball which accounts for a bit of the difference in HTA. CCJ v Xerri as a second ruck option is closer than I expected.

I think Butters is really a non negotiable though, he's a 100ppg at least and at that price his hurt factor will be pretty huge if you don't have him and he pumps out some big scores early on. Structure wise I think he has to be no lower than F2 with Cogs at F3.
