I still think Heeney is a solid pick even with role issues, the issue is with Cogs and Brodie in the mids, whose spots do they take?
Not sure to be honest , I think it becomes a case of how many of Butters, Cripps , Heeney & Rowell I want to start (probably can have only 3) but that's going rookie at D5 which looks yuck.

Maybe just have to trust 4 defender rookies for 6 rounds, then hope that Daicos & McGovern actually do get DPP.

You can still get an ok team with something like Lloyd, Short, Whitfield, Sicily, Hewett, McCartin (Gibcus, SDK) in the backs. I'd prefer Sicily to a top level defender premo and Hewett to a rookie but this at least provides stability and decent enough scoring at D5 albeit at a bit of a premium price over just a standard premo/rookie combo. The negatives are that I don't rate Sicily and Hewett to be top 8 backmen but it's an option anyway.

In the forwards you should still be able to do something like Dunks, Butters, Cogs, two of the $200k mid pricers, Rachele and a couple of fwd rookies. The mids will need to take a hit, probably still should be able to do something like Macrae, Touk/Steele, Neale, the rookies and Rowell.

Correct

Lloyd, Short, Whitfield, Sicily + 4
Macrae, Neale, Cripps , Berry, Cogs, Brodie , JHF, Daicos + 3 expensive
Darcy, Grundy, / J Hayes
Dunkley , Heeney, Butters, McGovern, Curnow, Xerri / Durdin , Baldwin

Trying to "force" it too much to get a ultra premium mid at M2.

Not convinced on Xerri personally , so that can easily be fixed to a cheaper mid bench rookie

Just need to step away for a few days, reset and wait for teams

Appreciate the insights/thoughts

I would get rid of Heeney to allow funds for Steele/Touk

I actually did the same thing last week
yea just need to find a lazy $ 230k , not Heeney though 😭

probably has to be him (or Cripps) if I want a ultra premium M2.

Taking a break from looking for 24 hours (maybe)

Anyone have stats on Mcgovern's 1st preseason game (Disposals, TOG, SC, Kick-ins, etc).

Reportedly went of at 3 quarter time grimacing and holding his hammy. Not on the injury report though. So make of that what you will.
Where did you hear this regarding holding his hammy?
Yeah. I just thought he was just shaking his head. Which might have been him disagreeing with being rested.

Lot of chat about Xerri from North Melbourne. He’s getting ruck time and played well in preseason games. However, I looked at North’s draw: Rd1. A v Hawks Rd2. H v WCE (Nic Nat) Rd3. A v BRIS (The Big O) Rd4. A v SYD (Hickey) Rd5. H v WBD (English & Martin)
That early draw does not give me confidence since with exception of Hawks, the rucks plus defence from other teams are strong…

Only needs to average 70 to 75 to make $150k and if he does transition to being their main ruckman he should achieve this. He scored 96 rucking mostly against Hickey last game and also showed he can get his hands on the ball (17 disposals, 14 cp, 5 marks).

Think Ben nailed and made me laugh.

I would also fear a GWS with a Preuss smashing into him and a talented midfield, which he doesn't have in that list.

Nic Nat all class however I think ruckman do ok against him. Darcy smashed Eagles for HTA given the weaken midfield. The question will be role consistency and does it change if North lose a few games.

Agree with the others, that's a great ruck run. NicNat will take hitouts but he's exploitable forward and you only ruck against him half the game and their 2nd rucks are terribad.

The other guys are all on the easier end of the spectrum. Plus it's his ground level stuff that allows him to score as he follows up well.

2 of the strongest and 3 of the weakest midfields isn't a bad result either.

Plus, realisticaly if Xerri is playing #1 ruck, you're going to want to hold him longer than most rookies, he should be one of the strongest scoring and he has the best bye and will get DPP to offer cover to rucks although unfortunately not in the byes where he shares it with Gawn, Grundy and Darcy!

Their team sheet is going to be interesting but the talk from Noble definitely seems to suggest Xerri is the #1 ruck and Goldy forward is what they want.
