I look at Hinge & Gibcus at D5 & D6 and then see Rachele , Ward & Stephens on my bench and think mmmm
Me to. But there is no one in the defence line to replace them? All the good rookies are in the midfield. Makes this season interesting.

Trying to avoid having to pick him tbh
McCartin
Dekoning

Then 2 more
Hoping
Sinn and a blue
Or Wilmot (pray for rd2 debut)
I don't think Boyd will play and if he does I really don't see him being in the side long term, Docherty will be back. I fear Sinn will be the 23rd man for Port as well. I've prepared a contingency side with just McCartin, Gibcus and SDK in the backs and Hewett at D5, I think it's ok but reliant on fwd rookies who I am not 100% certain of either (specifically Martin).

The other option is to take a punt on a mid pricer at D5, Heath Chapman is one i've considered but it's really not an option I want to go with.

If only 3 are picked I think I'll run with Wilmot at D7
Rd 1 vc/c option

I'm worried that Hinge might not even play with his shoulder that seems to be sticky taped on to the rest of his body.

This is my main headache ATS. Dropped Hinge and brought in Chapman at D5 but I have a worry about his output as the AAMI game was just circle work for the back 6 and I'm not sure that will continue into the season. I have Luke Ryan at D2 too with the same question marks.

So if it isn't Chapman who might have a spike in their scoring then who does around the same price? I have Rioli as well.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if he's named in the side for Thursday, I don't see it as a nice role though.
Not sure we even know his role, played third tall preseason but with Harry, Charlie, Jack and TDK ahead of him dont think he plays forward. Played mostly back last year, but the area is pretty full as well.

Can play anywhere so good chance he is the sub.

Mr Versatile

Carlton will want to pump games into you’d think. He’s from the very best aswell in Echuca 😎

Try looking at Rioli , Blakey , Chapman , Bowey , Richards price types with Sicily & Hewett , might surprise you how strong the other lines then become.
My point was the lack of Bargain Players in Defence.

RE: ...........Rioli, Blakey, Chapman, Bowey, Richards...........
I don't rate any of those 5 players you mentioned as bargain players, not confident they can be Cash Cows or Keepers.

If I get desperate for one of them in Defence, who do you recommend?

No probs , some are similar to Cogs in price.

Hewett + Hinge is probably close in price to Bowey + Chapman.

3-2-3 probably allows $$$ to be pumped into the mids , I guess it depends on how many value F you want and if you want Rowell , Berry in the mids , assuming most will start JHF & Daicos.

Was keen on Rioli preseason , but Bowey & Chapman are gaining popularity on another site , I guess they would all be stepping stones though.

Don't know enough about how the Swans setup without Dawson , but Blakey interests me (so does McInerney though)

Looks like we can’t see if Hinge is playing before we need to make a call on Gibcus.

On another matter will we know full Saturday teams before the Thursday night game starts?

Had a quick play

The 5 mentioned + 3 rookies
3 ultra premiums + Neale , Berry , standard 6 rookies
Darcy , Grundy
Dunkley , Sidey price , Heeney , Butters , Cogs , McG / Durdin , Baldwin

10 premiums so probably 2 short

Might be easier getting $ 500k defenders & forwards though as upgrades starting 3 ultra mids & Neale

I think he might have a potentially decent insurance role as the "swingman" .... but got to work with me here ...

- McGovern came off with possible Hammy tightness and didn't run out the match ...
- Durdin had a shin knock and didn't play but apparently should be fine for round 1....
- Curnow got a knee knock and didn't play but apparently should be fine for round 1....

- Kemp didn't play but was apparently managed and right to go ...

Think he is ahead of Boyd for flexibility ... and possibly could stay even when Doc comes back ....

- Damm hard team to read .... think I'll take him if named ...

Kemp is definitely ahead of Boyd, problem with him is he's good in multiple roles, if he's playing as a defender then he's on field startable. He was used as a forward in the first praccy game but McKay was an out.
