Can I check what the background is on Durdin please? I missed the practice matches and can’t see much appealing in last year’s performances (37 and 29 from 75+ TOG, ave 4 disposals).

Has his role changed, potentially?
He was winning ball a bit up the ground in the two pre-season games. First praccy he had 17 disposals from memory. From a JS perspective he's as solid a pick as you can get for your bench with the potential to have games where he will kick a few goals and score an 80. Wouldn't dream of fielding him though.

Do think hes the standard small that gets more space in a practice game, I'm expecting plenty of 30's personally but should have great job security.

I've see teams where they've stacked their mids to fit the big three premos, Neale, Rowell and Berry and have Rachele and Durdin on field at F5 and F6 with Ward or JHF on the mid bench. Can see it ending up in a lot of pain for these teams.

I have Durdin at f7. I thought about getting rid of him but can't find anything better. He was more of a mid as a junior but now he's a pressure forward. Hopefully he gets some multiple goal games. I think he played different roles in the two pre season games. Played higher in the first game.

Agree, his comparison last year would be Rowe, when he kicks a couple or sets a couple up it's going to be 80ish and when he doesn't it will be 40s.

I wouldn't go as far as great job security as they do have some depth to challenge but it sure seems he's on the inside track and it's his spot to lose which makes him pretty much the cheapest rookie this year who meets that criteria.

Saw OMc mentioned early and agree entirely with @Bontempele that it looks like there's one spot between him and Young, I think OMc was slightly better in the preseason but it's only just, possession is 9/10ths and all that but Young is right there and they targeted him for the role so have to think that even if OMc is slightly better they will push development into Young who definitely has a bigger ceiling as a player, imo.

A fit Whitfield at that price is a lock for me. Runs on the board.. only concern is he’s built like a cigarette.
Yeah, you just know he will miss games. If he can play 17 for the season is he worth the pain of a few DNP.? Soooo Cheap.

Have been running the eye over McInnerny from the swans. Any swans supporter with any more info to the role he plays.?

Im personally not as big on Rachele as most as I really think you're paying 184k for a 50 average that should really be on your bench, hes not going to kick 2 or 3 every week.

The thing that I liked was that he tackles, it raises his floor and he has been played as a high half forward so has won ball down the ground. Also his JS seems to be the best of the rookie fwds.

Woggie made comments else on McInnerny - hard to say if his role is wing or inside. Expect he gets the good wing over Dylan Stephens.

With Hall not playing, Dawson unseen and maybe a question for round 1, yet to see DPP impact, it feels hard to pick more than 4 defenders. Not sure Lloyd is a cut above the rest still and given movement of players do we see some change coming.

If not Whitfield, who is marginally above before you get up to the $570k players. Does Ridley give us 105 if not going with the kick outs.

if you think 17 games for Whitfield then you dont pick him. Post kidney issue he missed one game from memory last year, although he is a tall slender player despite having been in the system for a long time.

Ridley did take 5/9 kick ins in their game against St Kilda so if that trend continues he's still taking the majority for them.

I really don't think Whitfield is that cheap. If he can get back to 2019 for then, yes, otherwise he's only 5-8 points underpriced on the other 4 seasons 2 either side of that one. He's played a full season twice (incl 17 game season) in that 5 year period, missing 6-7 games in the other 3.

There's definitely upside to him but his realistic outcome I think is probably a solid D4 level of scoring. Obviously if he moons, that's another story but I'll be honest, I reckon Daniel at the same price is just as good a buy with significantly better durability but no one is talking about him :)

I don't like the JMc pick, averaged ~80 over the last ten in the same role and wing is just a really hard role in SC to score greatly in. He doesn't really do any of the things that the wingers who have scored great do either. His kicking is sound but not elite, he doesn't intercept mark, he doesn't win much contested ball, he's not high volume and he doesn't tackle. At his price he has to be a keeper so you're talking 95+, there were like 3 wings in the league who did that last year.

Like the player and it's possible he starts doing some of those things but you're looking for 15+ points of natural improvement basically as the role is unchanged. Not impossible by any means but that's a strong jump.

I just question the scoring capacity of smalls in crap sides last year for instance they had Sam Berry 46 (tackled like a madman), Murphy 54, McAdam 52 and Rowe 57, its hard to then see Rachele come out and average 60+ in his first season which we really need out of a 180k rookie to be making that 100-150k quickly, no doubt the guys a super talent but just not sure its going to translate to consistent SC output in a likely bottom 4 side which worries me for cash generation.

Give me an alternative (have Durdin) and I'll happily roll with it.
