Team is all right but need to fix bench rookies. Kelly, Hollands, O'Driscoll, Parker and maybe Sinn won't play. SDK not fieldable probably want McCartin in defence otherwise everything else is good to go.
Yeah, rookies have done my head in - so your response was exactly on the mark, but as I've said in another thread, part of their function was DPP flexibility. However, if they aren't making cash they are pointless, and I guess I need to factor in the DPP changes after Rd. 6 making things more flexible in general. I'm wondering about maybe tossing Whitfield - he's too injury prone, and freeing up cash for elsewhere - rookies/midp. Thanks for the feedback.

I like your team - I guess all those options will depend on the teams. The advantage of tonights match up is that it most of us have locked in any Dogs and Dees players, and it seems you're set on English.

Thanks for the response.

My mistake, I have corrected above, Darcy would come in for English as R2; means I have to make a decision before tonight's game, on Darcy v English; then, if I go Darcy, it is either Option B or Option C (which is dependent on a viable defensive rookie).

Oh, ok, I misread it. Will have another look.

A or B at the moment. I reckon it comes down to your faith in English, but Darcy has his question marks as well. I like the picks, but both A and B.

Will depend on teams, but I'd stick with A at the moment. It's bloody hard work.

Here's what my final team looks like. Going to be an interesting night tonight with just Gawn and Dunkley...

Lloyd, Short, Sicily, Hewett, Hinge, Gibcus (McCartin, SDK)

Steele, Miller, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, J.Berry, JHF, ND (D.Stephens, Ward, McEntee)

Grawndy (Hayes)

Dunkley, Butters, Cogs, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Durdin, Baldwin)

Trying my best not to meddle too much at this late stage. Keen on hearing some opinions on where to throw my remaining 200k though. I'm quite set on refraining from the Cripps selection. Also think Caldwell is rated real highly internally at the bombers and think he'll do 85-90 comfortably. So that leaves me pretty unsure where to spread the remaining cash. Appreciate any thoughts, best of luck in the crunch time, lads!

I feel quite settled with my team, except for the leftover 135k... I think Fwd is where I have to use it:

Current:
Dunkley, Butters, Cogs, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Durdin, Hayes)

Would you upgrade Durdin to say McGovern, shifting Rachele off? Or Perhaps a Naish, Ralphsmith type as bench upgrades?

The spots that stand out to me are Gibcus on field, Ollie Wines and no Dunkley.

I could understand Wines as a POD in a vacuum (though off a Brownlow year it's hard to see upside) but as the player who forces Ward onto the bench he seems unnecessary to me.

So, given stated restrictions, I would go Wines>Hough/Macdonald, Gibcus>Lloyd and McGovern>Dunkley.

A quick headcount puts that about 15k short I think. I would fund that with Taranto down to Dusty or Treloar, or Gawn/Darcy down to Grundy, or maybe by getting an m/f donut (Long?) instead of Hough/Macdonald/Soligo, Baldwin.

Looks good otherwise. Good luck!

A few pods in there.
Was it a deliberate plan to avoid the middle bye premos?

Hard to say without seeing where you’re saving 135k, sneaky, but I also know the feeling of want to start the season without a full reveal. I was trying to do the same but didn’t have enough time for research. It would seem McGovern is the way to go.

On the other hand I wouldn’t be averse to starting with 135k in the bank for early restructuring. I’ve done it before, but I reckon this is the year it could be really beneficial.

I’ve already changed a few things significantly in the team I posted above, but tell me what you would do my friend.

You have a keen eye! I forgot to mention that I'm targeting the round 13 bye to try and take out the weekly prize, but in doing so I also think my team looks good enough to contend throughout the year at least in my league competitions if not a good overall rank. It hurts not picking Dunkley and Macrae but I'm hoping that's just the edge I need going into that bye round.

I forgot to mention I'm steering clear of the teams with the R13 bye to try and target the overall top score for that round, so Dunkley unfortunately is a no go. The Wines > Rookie trade is one I hadn't considered, so I appreciate the perspective. I don't think I have it in me to have Neale at M2 and consequently Berry at M3. Last year going light on in the mids seemed to be what did me in and although it looks like we're forced into it this year I'm still very gun-shy of not having at least 2 600k+ mids to start off the year. Sicily at D5 is very tempting though! Thanks for the feedback, king.

Ok Guys. Haven't had a great deal of time for research, so I open my deck-shuffling to anyone who would like to help. I've left some points of wriggle room pending teams and whims - ie. there's a many rookie place holders and a one or two players I'm not hugely fond of could fade to restructure a bit - but I'll see what you've got to say. Thanks as always.

I think you've already touched some of this but I'll add in.

My team is similar to yours, you've gone for a genuine premo in Mid (Clarry), I've gone one more in Def.
You'll need to update your bench rookies, but I would also look at getting McCartin down back and slotting another forward "rookie"in.

Fairly settled on this at the moment. Only change could be Brodie > McGovern maybe & obviously some tinkering with rookies based on whether named or not. Thoughts lads?

Thanks man. Yeah, bench rookies done, pending teams and McC down back already done. Hadn’t got my head around a few things that have changed - but glad you guys have helped out. It usually becomes so obvious after Rd. 3, but some things can be foreseen as you and @Stormzy have helped with.

Dunkley for Taranto would be my one move. High ownership and if he repeats last year he will be mid 600k come byes.

Taranto is likely to be cheaper if he does play alot more forward and can be picked up in the middle bye.

Team was looking a little bland so decided to do something different in the rucks. Have a feeling Preuss can be a good cash cow once he's back, so saving him on the Pine and then can swing English forward and chop and change to get the best scores on field out if Preuss/Hayes/Dixon over the next few weeks.
