Joel Smith has zero durability, doesnt score and is very much on the fringe of the best 22 why people are interested in that pick is beyond me, what am I missing there?
That he's a DEF rookie?

People are desperate to try and find 4 or even 5 of them, atm he's the 3rd who is actually confirmed as playing of a group that's maybe 7 deep in total.

Was somewhat keen on Kelly after seeing him take a few kick-ins at training.

But it appears that Kreuger is only 1 week away, Roughead is only 4-5 weeks away, Dean comes back midseason, Howe is already back.

Feels like Kelly has 3 hurdles...

(1) Selected as the lockdown KPD ahead of Howe
(2) Play well enough in round 1 to keep Kreuger up forward (probably the easiest hurdle since Kreuger was brought in as a forward)
(3) Retain his spot as a 3rd tall defender alongside Howe when Roughead returns round 4/5

Feel like all 3 conditions need to be met sequentially for Kelly to be a successful cash cow... I think I will pass

Also needs to get named tomorrow tonight as another hurdle.

Was taking kick-ins for the weaker team from what I saw.

His biggest hurdle is staying fit in all honesty, guys absolutely made of glass.

Poor durability, scoring potential and job security, firmly in the pick at D8 if we have nobody else camp for me.

So Joel Smith ha...

If he's named on the ground as a back-pocket, might be good to just lock in a playing rookie instead of risking the likes of SDK/Kelly/Sinn not playing.

Dees have a few backs out (Hibberd, Petty) that would come straight in for him you would imagine.

Let me fix this for you

Feels like Kelly has 3 hurdles...

(3) Retain his spot as a 3rd tall defender alongside Howe when Roughead returns round 4/5
(4) Actually finish a game at the top level. He's currently 0 from 3 attempts

Feel like all 3 conditions need to be met sequentially for Kelly to be a successful cash cow... I think I will pass
Having said that, I'm getting a horrible, horrible feeling that I might just have to select him after all :cautious:

Well that’s what I’m saying - but on the flip side you have people fitting in strong benches by introducing risk in players like McGovern, Berry, Cripps, Brodie etc on field so it’s certainly not black and white.

I’m not sure there is going to be a lot between a JHF and Stephen’s when you look at the role each of them will be playing
JHF to Stephens opens up many possibilities.....

Sadly, you left out 'option 4 - Gastro'. The poor boy is out of round 1

Hough, better JS - think we have just 25 fit/ rated highly within the club/ fair chance he gets def classification added after round 6 (playing half back) so mid/def to pair up Whitfield/Crisp/etc
Even with Witherden to return, do you think there’s still a spot somewhere in the 22 for him ?
