Yeah which is mainly because people start rookies who end up being dropped after couple rounds, I’d rather start a 102k dpp rookie who plays last every week to make sure I can gain points from it

And start rookies who are more or less better and can hold there spot
But but, that 133 VC from Macrae is so tasty, I don't want to miss it!

Or TB has just made this up.

I really don't want to select Brodie when he is borderline 22 for them and could be first out when Fyfe returns.
Is Brodie really not best 22 with Fyfe? Don’t they have a midfield spot up for grabs with Cerra departing ? They have a pretty small midfield group as it is. I know his js with Fyfe wouldn’t be too great because he’s got some flaws in his game and some other players would come in but I’d think he’s best 22 to start

^ Current iteration of my squad has 92k free. Can afford to upgrade from Martin to Durdin and go from my 180k types to Brodie if required. Not sure that it improves my onfield result much with Rachele/Naish at F6 and 7 so might just be happy with being half way to my first upgrade instead

Probably just in their 22, depends, they could decide to play some of their younger players (Erasmus for example). Would have been really helpful if we saw him in the same side as Fyfe in the pre-season.

But given he’s ahead of Erasmus in the AAMI games I think he would be playing with Fyfe in any case, maybe not scoring as much or getting the same amount of mid time. They’d only be going in with 4 inside mids with Fyfe, Brayshaw, Mundy and Serong, teams usually play with 5+.

Doubt he is even remotely close to being ready for AFL but would be the fastest on our list and we do have a need for speed.

Bit of a hangover from the Buckley era that legspeed wasn't important since a well directed kick travels so much faster. We then proceeded to draft **** kicks and wonder why our men were so often 2nd to fall of the ball. Great for our tackling stats though, at least, while we were actually trying to tackle but then even that dried up.

So I'm keen to see the likes of Harrison, Chugg and Murley once they are ready for the big show. Each of them have a bit of toe.

Fly has decided we are going to tackle more too and gone and gotten an NRL fitness guy so maybe we won't be the lightest midfield on the list every year anymore. I hope he has decided that we will shepherd more too. One thing I notice watching other games is that protecting the ball carrier, while nowhere near as fashionable as it was back in the old days, hasn't been banned altogether by the coaching fraternity. Therefore, the ball carrier has that extra second or two to make his kick count, instead of panic handballing it to the guy who should be shepherding for him. Remarkable! I do hope we give this new fangled idea a try some time.

No question that he is in the side to begin with but feels like he'll be playing every week to keep his spot.

Yeah Brodie has been in and out for me too and I share your reservations. I think i take him though just as his scoring ceiling looks good so hopefully he tons up against a fairly weak midfield in the crows and if I have to trade him at round 3 as his role has changed or fyfe has taken his spot then at least I have banked some points and I can correct him to preuss or some rookie i have missed. Pending team announcements he is all but locked in at F5 for me.

For what it is worth I am going in with Gov, Brodie, Xerri at F4-6 with Rachele on the bench. I figure I can redistribute with DPP and a correction trade if any of them fail - eg flip to chapman in def via a de koning, flip to preuss at R3 via Hayes etc....

Got Gov locked in and its Xerri vs Brodie at f5 for me, going for only a three rookie backline so don't think I can fit all three in unless Rachelle goes. If Xerri is first ruck then he's ahead for mine.

Also running 3 rookies down back: McCartin with Minge and SDK on the bench. Running Gov, Xerri and Rachele up forward with Naish on the bench to start. I like the idea of Gibcus and Brodie but each of the others chosen has the better chance at peeling of 6 games of better points per dollar with the exception of Hinge who can be corrected down if he hurts himself again.

If Brodie was 50k cheaper he'd be getting a run. Maybe the same with Gibcus

Think Brodie is in Freos best team, the important thing has he got the inside midfielder role. Brodie on the half forward flank is probably a fail.
He is a good inside midfielder and is right in the mix even with Fyfe, Crowdin (spelling) was playing inside in preseason and surely Brodie is better than him.

No idea what Gibcus' JS is like, not even that concerned so much with his scoring potential but a dead rookie at $171k on a line bereft of them is not ideal. Add Hinge with his shoulder being problematic and I can't rationalize starting more than three.

Mitch Crowden is another they gave a big go on the inside in the practice match, he had 22 CBA's (first on the ground) but he only put up a 53 with 10 disposals, don't think he's a big threat to Brodie.

Had Hewitt at D5 with McCartin, Gibcus & SDK but CCJ being named has spooked me so brought in Hinge for Hewitt to free up cash for Xerri to McGovern. Means I have 180k spare and not really sure what to do with it. I think around 80k is a good starting amount especially this year but 180 seems a bit ridiculous
