No idea what Gibcus' JS is like, not even that concerned so much with his scoring potential but a dead rookie at $171k on a line bereft of them is not ideal. Add Hinge with his shoulder being problematic and I can't rationalize starting more than three.
In 2020 in his only game that year, Hinge scored 54 fantasy and 102 supercoach with 13 disposals ,3 marks and 2 tackles so the scoring potential is there.

Mitch Crowden is another they gave a big go on the inside in the practice match, he had 22 CBA's (first on the ground) but he only put up a 53 with 10 disposals, don't think he's a big threat to Brodie.
Crowden was basically playing in Fyfe's spot, in Freo's best 22 I see both Brodie & Fyfe being deployed as the 2 inside mid bulls/ Brayshaw & Serong as a mix of both inside & outside/ Mundy becomes more outside to use his great footskills - he is an elite kick. That's how I see Freo's ideal midfield makeup.

Had Hewitt at D5 with McCartin, Gibcus & SDK but CCJ being named has spooked me so brought in Hinge for Hewitt to free up cash for Xerri to McGovern. Means I have 180k spare and not really sure what to do with it. I think around 80k is a good starting amount especially this year but 180 seems a bit ridiculous
Possible to turn a speculative premo/mid pricer into a genuine one? Or sure up bench rookies?

That’s what I’m thinking but I can only turn Rowell into Cripps and I’d prefer Rowell. Could go Hinge to Chapman but I’m not sure on Chapman either. Has not really been on my watch list due to the number of rebounding defenders freo already have and don’t want to pick him for the sake of having extra cash.

Other option is Whitfield to Lloyd but I like the Whitfield pick.

Hard to advise without seeing your team but don't pick anyone you don't like just because you have the cash. Off the top of my head McGovern+180k would just about get you to Sicily, woudn't it?

Chapman is speculative for sure but only needs a couple of games of 90 (which he can do, whilst hopefully not tanking his floor) to make some cash. The issue as you raised is they have a lot of these defenders, does his role change depending on opposition? Don't mind the pick but it's a risky one. He was very good in the pre-season games but I'm not sure how much you can read into those games. Freo have a soft draw as well early on.

Just short of Sicily can get Hewitt. I can do that and swing SDK into the forwards.
Plan can then be if Pruess gets named I can then use English as F2 so it gets SDK/Durdin off field and leaves Rachele at F6 and Pruess as R2.

Hinge & Gibcus on Def bench as well which is probably the hardest line this year.

Putting a lot into the Pruess basket but I actually don’t mind it at all.

I just think one week hell have that intercept great role and give an 80-90 then give 2 weeks playing more accountable and struggle to score 50, those sort of picks are nightmares at 275k.

I like it too. Was desperately trying to work it out for my team last night when Stef Martin was dropped, but couldn't juggle it while trying to get my son home and into bed.

Instinctively it feels wrong to bring SDK to forward line given dearth of def bench rookies, but without being able to fiddle with alternatives that seems a decent option. (though I confess I don't like Hewett much as a pick)

What separates Chapman from other young small/medium defenders in that price range like Lachie Jones, Chayce Jones, Bowey, Richards, or Answerth?

It is not an ideal pick for sure but if he does get multiple weeks of the looser role he could average 80 over the course of those weeks and potentially make $100k profit until Daicos/Gov get their DPP. That's best case scenario for him, it's not great but it's something.

Yeah agree looks really weird having SDK up fwd but have Gibcus/Hinge/McCartin down there still. Personally see Hewitt as a good stepping stone to Oliver when Daicos gets his def DPP round 6. Certainly don’t see him as a keeper but think he could be around the 95 mark which is enough for me!

If Xerri is not picked as the starting on-ball ruck I'll pick somebody else.

Forward Xerri is no good; we want ruck Xerri.
Can you trust the starting positions that are released by the AFL clubs?
I would assume Goldstein would be listed as the starting on-ball ruckman?

We know that the ruck will be shared between Goldstein and Xerri.
What I would like to know is, what % will Xerri be rucking?

The positions were accurate for the AAMI game and yes, the team sheets are in essence meaningless once the game starts, but if Xerri is there as the on-ball ruck I think he'd start the CBA.

I don't know why we would try a game plan twice in the preseason only to completely throw it out come round one (unless it was dreadful, which it wasn't). So if Noble sticks to his guns we should hopefully see Xerri ruck 60-70% with Goldy the rest.

And CCJ should stay parked 20m out, directly in front, with instructions to go nowhere near any ruck contests (please oh please!)

That's what I am banking on. :)
