@lavenderbandit - Rowell being only 78kgs surprises me, where did you get that from? Guessing that site hasn't updated, certainly appears bigger than that/all muscle - looks very solid to me watching him live & covered the ground well yesterday.
The mighty google, like you said wouldnt be surprised if he's 3-5kg more than that! still only 1.8m however

edit: 80kg from the suns website (not sure when last updated)

I watched the North game and it would be unjust if Xerri went before CCJ IMO.
CCJ was awful, playing the 3 of them really hurt North in the 2nd half/ did not have enough run. Goldy again looked decent up fwd & Xerri in the ruck. Can't see how CCJ plays again this week, it was very obvious they went in too tall & he was the poorest player out of those 3 by far.

No trades for me subject to any Berry injury. Gee, those 3 trades at the end of rd 2 are looking tasty and appreciated though!
Remember, you can only activate the trade boost 5 times for the season, so it is worth considering whether it would be better to use an early trade this week and then only use 2 trades next week instead of 3.

Is that in addition to 3 trades during the bye periods or do these 5 trade boosts cover those rounds also

I noticed the same thing, it's just the way I cut and paste it as Oleg is the playing number before him.

I think my posts are just me trying to justify why Rowell's not in my side already haha.
Haha I am battling with the same decision mate. Your posts are certainly giving me some useful food for thought. I think the fact he is up against the demons this week and I don’t need to trade him in this week is enough for me not to pull the trigger this week

NM can't play CCJ, Goldy and Xerri after seeing that on the weekend, interesting to see where they go with this and also Comben coming back into calculations.

The fact that Goldy spent the first half of the first QT warming the bench is evident that 3 talls + Larkey was not the answer! I just don't get why they went in with that setup, did they really wanted to show their dominance in the rucks that badly...? Goldy alone would've been enough.

I hope to see something different when team are released later this week. CCJ can work on his craft and buy his time in the VFL, like those before him. Xerri continues as our 1st choice ruck with Goldy coming in to dominate opposition's backup ruck, Goldy is more than capable as a forward (2nd only to Dean Cox for average goals per game for modern day rucks).

Now THAT is a great question, to which I do not have an answer. My guess is that Trade Boost gives and extra trade on top of the 3 during Byes, but that is merely a guess

Edit - although supported by BB in the previous post 😎

Rowell is interesting, and he's certainly on my Radar. For those who dont have him and are consider trading him in, including me, across his career:
- 2 highest ever scores are against the eagles at 171, 157 (I know this too well lol)
- averages 77 against all other comers taking out his injury score of 6 , 72 if you include the injury score
- has an injury history and is still listed as only 78kg
- just played a WAFL standard midfield
- are you considering trading him in as a stepping stone? or a full time mid? do you think he will be top 12'ish ahead of Macrae, oliver, steele, miller, Neale, Trac, Brayshaw, mitchell and so on...
- watching him play yesterday, he is borderline reckless (PS I love watching this style of play!). One time rather than dispose of the ball he took on 2 and got crunched, I thought he was done again but to his credit he jumped straight up. might not be so lucky next time.
- Has Melbourne this week, cant see him getting off the chain this week and i feel a 75-95 more realistic.

He's obviously started off with a blinder, is a unique talent and im definitely considering him! just pointing out that all of us either did or did not pick him for a reason for me its injury history and i dont see him being a top 12 midfielder come years end. However when the data changes its prudent to at least review our decisions.

I'm prepared to wait another week as i really want to see how he goes against the Demons, because if i bring him in it requires a semi-restructure. We have more flexibility with the trade boost so I can then make a more informed decision after round 2 to change and get him in if it warrants.
I thought exactly the same thing watching Rowell play. He puts himself into seemingly vulnerable positions a lot when he doesn't need to and that leaves him open to the wrong player (eg. Viney) really lining him up.

It's just one game, but Xerri and Goldstein had basically the same hitout win and HTA rates. Hopefully that buys Xerri more time in the ruck share setup.

I'm of the belief that they 'persuaded' him to play it safe last season by virtue of playing him more outside to 'protect' him from reinjuring himself again. We all know the result of that, both for the Suns and for SC scoring potential. He looked all at sea in that role and reflected in the Suns overall performance as well, particularly when Greenwood was injured towards the back end of the season.

Positive signs for this new season are: looks fit, tackling again, no tape, stronger (he didn't even went off after that hit from Rioli), emergence of Anderson, hopefully a fit Witts.

Sometimes a player only knows one way to play footy, just look at Danger and how he's playing after 14 years. We all can only hope that he learns to be more 'smarter and prudent' in his decision making as he progresses but I don't think anyone can (or should) tell him to take it down a notch as there's no 'WOW' in that.

I’m just pointing out it could have been a nightmare for Rowell owners if Rioli had KO’ed him & concussion protocols kicking in ruling him out for R2 etc

I’m honestly baffled he didn’t cop a head knock.. huge hit

I have very little doubt that Xerri has that primary ruck role until he fails hence I'm not overly concern about his JS and would be shocked if he was to be dropped in favour of playing CCJ anytime soon. I just don't like the 3 talls + Larkey setup and don't see the point in doing so if the plan was for Goldy to play more time forward.
