Seems Most are throwing out a Keeper for upgrades.?

I didnt start JFH or Rachele both highly owned. I Currently sit in the top 1000. Thinking i should get both, supercoach 101 get your rookies in order RD3.

Gov to Xerri
Berry to JFH? Concern on J.Berry Shoulder.
Baldwin to Rachele or Naish as a POD move.?

oR

Burn Steele for Brayshaw and CrippS and assume they are keepers.?

Steele - Brayshaw
Gov - Rachele
Berry - Cripps.

The go Durdin to Martin RD4 and just sit for a few weeks. 4 trades used.?
Steele has a reasonable fixture coming up but I really like Brayshaw who also has a good fixture including West Coast next week.
Gov and Berry traded out seems reasonable to me.

I'm looking at it too, so here goes my worst case take on it...

Ryder is listed as available so let's assume he comes in next week. They run with all 3 rucks for a few weeks (Hayes as a perma-forward scoring 40s) before dropping Hayes.

Meanwhile Dixon chugs along and provides a contest, 40-60 type scores until Allen is back. Probably just in time at R6 or 7.

Good chance there is a R6 donut brewing here (unless you have English already) so if you were going all out on this play I'd bank an extra trade to bring in perhaps Preuss to shore things up.
Are WC going to play all of Darling , Dixon , Kennedy , Waterman & B Williams ?

Don't tell me this is the year for the all rookie ruck line 🤔

PREMIERSHIP players Jake Lever and Michael Hibberd are a chance to return to Melbourne's frugal backline for its clash with Essendon at the MCG next Friday night.

The makeshift Demons defence was outstanding in their win over Gold Coast on Saturday night, restricting the Suns to 10 goals from 60 inside 50s, and it could get even better for the premiers in the not-too-distant future.

Following the victory, coach Simon Goodwin said Lever (foot) and Hibberd (calf) would be assessed during the week after almost returning against the Suns.

"We'll look at Hibbo and Jake to see where they are at but I'm really happy with the group we've got going at the moment," Goodwin said.

"They are playing well and have good cohesion together … they absorbed a lot of pressure really well."

Christian Salem and Harrison Petty are still missing longer term, but Trent Rivers made a successful return from injury, while Jake Bowey continued the incredible start to his career.

Bowey finished with 34 disposals, including a match-high 16 intercepts.

"He's a much-improved player," Goodwin said.

"He's played in nine games for nine wins, so he's pretty lucky.

"He played an outstanding game last week, but it was more defensive, and he didn't get rewarded with ball in hand, and tonight he played exactly the same game and got some reward with the ball.

"He's going to keep improving, he's still a young player with a lot to learn, but he was great tonight."

Comment from Goodwin's presser on the weekend. Interesting to note he played exactly the same game and got some reward with the ball.

Interesting to see if Hibberd and Lever has any effect on his ball winning ability. Think they may effect his intercept work but don't think they'd effect the chip mark part of the game.

Think I may seriously look at McGovern to Bowey with some DPP swings instead of McGovern to Jackson or may just end up holding McGovern.
I actually take this differently - Bowey had 16 intercepts. As much as I love Bowser, he's not going to have 16 intercepts against any other team. Gold coast were horrible with ball in hand.
I'd expect him to go back to 70s

is cripps a must have at this stage?
has the Taylor walker of 2021 feel of him….I’m staying away, feel his disposal may drop away and we haven’t seen cerra, Walsh and he in the same side as of yet….
well done to those that jumped on but could set you back if he starts reverting back to his 80-100 type scores….

keep in mind he has always excelled against the tigers every year too….

Off to a reasonable start and would love to read SCS perspective on my side ahead of round 3.

Def: Crisp, Short, Whitfield, Hewett, Hinge, McCartin (Gibcus, SDK)
Mid: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, Berry, JHF, Daicos (Ward, Stephens, MacDonald)
Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (Dixon)
Fwd: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Hayes, Martin)

Cash: $24,600

At this stage I’m tempted to hold fire in preparation to aggressively attack “upgrade season”, but have considered moving on either Whitfield, Berry, Gawn or Ward.

I think I'll pull the trigger and get in Brayshaw for Berry and trade out Marshall for Naish and get in Nic Martin for Owens next week.

Aside from Cripps I'm not missing any important value picks/rookies. Xerri, Hewett, Martin, Hayes, JHF, Stephens etc are already there. I can use a couple of trades to get Cripps (already have 100k itb), or stick with the team I've got.

My best options for getting Cripps are:

1. Underperforming premo (Steele/Ridley) and Owens > Cripps and Bowey/similar player.
2. Berry and McGovern > Cripps and Skinner.

No need to use a third trade unless there's an unexpected out.
Option 2 assuming Skinner is on the bench. Especially with the calibre of forward options (< 250k) available in your side!

Option 1 easily mate. Xerri, JHF and Rachele will be three of the best cash cows this season!

Ok I have settled on two options, although the Ryder news is scaring me greatly as option two requires on of Dixon or Hayes on field:

Whitfield, Berry, Thomas to Hewett, Rowell, Heeney
or
Whitfield, Berry, Marshall to Hewett, Cripps, Heeney

Tarryn Thomas should be your number 1 trade priority this week. Trade 1: Thomas > Heeney.

Without seeing the rest of your side I would look for a way to bring in Cripps next.

Yes…. I still think Cripps will fall away with his poor ball use ….Petracca on a new level and in hindsight I should have taken petracca over Oliver….
Reckon Trac was cheap - I feel the same way now re. Vs Oliver but Oliver won’t be a waste Trac however seems to be going next level, which is must have. Will he be affordable at any point beyond now?

Hard decision. I’ve started Oliver the last three seasons. Just felt right. One of my first picked.,

Maybe its just me being to risk adverse, but there is no way in hell I would be going down to:

Prem Ruc, Hayes (Dixon)

I guess the one crevat is that if you have English in the FWD line, it may work for a couple of rounds until Xerri gets RUC/FWD

I have a very similar side to yours which I suppose is cookie cutter. I haven’t got a problem with mine. You have all the rookies, Berry Brodie doing ok. You have Cripps and Hewitt, some are dismantling their side to an extent to get them in. Gawn and Whitfield are in heaps of sides, willing to risk them coming good. Personally I am not concerned if Gawns value drops considerably, he is a season long keeper, be in the top few rucks. As for Whitfield, he is a worry I admit, had a great preseason etc but coaches are all over Heeney and he is fragile too.

I have been looking at Bowey. But I also do not have Hinge in def so have been considering which one to bring in.

My rough (very rough) calcs have it looking like this. Due to the 151 Bowey could go back to 70 for three games in a row and still go up 100k. Hinge could go 75 three times in a row and go up about 120k. It is a tricky one. If Bowey produces another 100 in the next two or three rounds he could push up towards 400k and could be upgraded to a premium from there. Hinge is unlikely to get that high and is more of a cash cow. He could go 100. 100, 75 and will make 150-160k but still only be around the 350k mark.

Go for Bowey , he is super efficient in his kicking and is taking Salem's job for 7 more weeks.
