Too true. Whitfield is a damn enigma.
One commentator mentioned in game one they thought he walked of the ground funny and doing a lot of lift leg up and outwards (groin stretching). Someone mentioned game 2 he was running in 2nd gear only. Is it a slight strain or more or nothing. Remember sitting on Kelly for ages until they told us OP. Neale last year, they told us nothing.

My def is Crisp, Ryan, Ridley, Hewitt, Gibcus, McCartin, bench SDK and donut. Hinge is the only def rookie prospect I don't have.

Forward rookies are Xerri, Rachele, Hayes bench N Martin and McGovern.

So the plan being considered was SDK forward and take the McGovern cash and get Bowey on field in def. Gibcus can then go to the bench. McGovern might come good but for quick cash generation and getting to a trade up position Bowey beats him to the punch.
Cracking backline except for donut. Bowey does make quick money yet needs some 80-90's to make the 150k. As aggressive as I am, I would trade McGov to Heeney knowing he is probably 100k underpriced and potn keeper. McGov could still make us money, has a good role, although, coach did make a comment after the game which questioned (in my mind) whether McGov may play 2s for a couple of weeks to learn role.

anyone looking at caldwell over berry, averaged 90 with merrett and now merrett is out for 6-8 weeks
Caldwell should be looked at. For Berry, just not sure. Berry did play a cooler role which hurt his scoring and has a range of concerns including injury issues, as does Caldwell have history. Think these trades make more sense when you know the outgoing target is going to lose money.

I admit I haven’t seen him play, sure can if he can get a score like the last one.
Took a lot of intercept marks, at 176cm I can assure you they were uncontested. Elite user of the ball, yet needs to get the ball. Highly dependent on role, needs HB not back pocket. If named at HB flank (with Hibberd in side) then 80-90 is quite possible going forward and expect he is traded in by many.

Still no idea really

McGovern - > Xerri looks locked
Whitfield - > Hewett
Long - > Bowey via DPP

No Hayes 🤔 , keep Gawn 🤔

Lose my 🍩 and F/M link with Brodie.

Dixon , Milera , SDK possible donut options for VC/C

Bench

Milera , Gibcus
Rachele * , Ward , Stephens
Dixon *
Durdin , SDK *

Any thoughts on what if any Toby Greens return in round 6 will have on Tom Greens output? Thinking of bringing in Tom this week.

T Mitchell > Cripps
N Blakey > Hewett?
Always a bit hard to know, recency bias kicks in and we forget that we’re also chewing up a trade to get off one position and into another.

Seems Most are throwing out a Keeper for upgrades.?
Given the lack of cheap cash cows I think the chase for cash and value is more important this year. We now have more information. I would rather trade a Whitfield than a Berry or McGovern. Not that Whitfield can't turn it around but he probably gets more people into some of those players that look heavily underpriced. I wouldn't be trading a keeper to chase another fully priced keeper who is off to a hot start. That's just chasing last weeks points.

Reckon Trac was cheap - I feel the same way now re. Vs Oliver but Oliver won’t be a waste Trac however seems to be going next level, which is must have. Will he be affordable at any point beyond now?

Hard decision. I’ve started Oliver the last three seasons. Just felt right. One of my first picked.,
Agree there Zimmer….Oliver one of my first set the past two years…. only reason Trac isn’t coming in this week is because my midfield already strong and I need to move on Darcy and Whitfield….

Concern is with Berry Shoulder.? Haven't yet watched a reply of the game.

Berry to JFH seems ok.

Still like Gov role might hold but Xerri is tempting.

The more I think about things, the more I'm lost... here's where I'm at.

Lloyd, Short, Whitfield, Hewett, Hinge, McCartin (Gibcus, SDK)
Steele, Miller, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, J.Berry, JHF, ND (D.Stephens, Ward, Owens)
Grawndy (Hayes)
Dunkley, Butters, Cogs, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Durdin, Martin)

Tempted to trade Gawn to English but that's about where the thoughts stop... no rookies scream out at me. Whitfield looks like he's not 100% and want to get rid of him, but a lot of the other defenders concern me.

Wouldn't overthink it. None stand out because team is good. Hold your fire.

I've toyed with it what it gives me too, so I understand the appeal, but I reckon people doing some version of Berry>Xerri are going to have an unpleasant Saturday night.
Yep. Xerri looks like he had a very fortunate spike game. Playing East Perth without NicNat. I would think the rnd 1 score is closer to the norm. If you already have him you'd be happy but I don't see the need to trade him in. Even though we're lacking in cheap cash cows it looks like there is still plenty of cash to be made in other ways.

Should be zero. Toby's up forward. Tom's playing the #1 mid role (in conjunction with Cogs). Maybe Taranto gets pushed out but at this point he's more likely to end up on a wing.

I'm not necessarily against trading Berry but it would have to be for a must have cheap cash cow or value keeper. Give him another week and reasses for maybe an NMartin next week. I would rather use a cold higher priced premium to get JHF and it might let you get in an undervalue keeper like Cripps, Hewett or Heeney if you didn't have them.
Edit: Supposed to quote @Vicwood. Don't know what happened.

Re: Xerri - he looked very good in that role sharing ruck time with Goldy, I wouldn't take out the value of CCJ missing from that team but yes they were playing a somewhat spirited 2nd string Weagles. Xerri can make some coin I think.

I'm probably going to hold Berry for one more week also, I'd like to see him against NM and he's not going to lose money - for me I'll bring in both Stephens and Rachele and move Whitfield to Hall I think and re-assess another week.

Tossing up between two trading strategies.. interested to hear everybody's thoughts:
Option 1)
Whitfield out --> Hewett in
Berry out --> Rowell in
McGovern --> Xerri in
or
Option 2)
Whitfield out --> Bowey in
McGovern out --> Heeney in

Ideally would love to go strategy 1 but replace Xerri with Heeney, however am about $2K short.
