I'm doing OK at the moment but feel under some pressure to close a few gaps in my relatively cookie cutter team:

DEF: Crisp, Short, Whitfield, Hewitt, P. McCartin, Hinge (SDK, NOD)
MID: J. Macrae, Touk, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, J. Berry, JHF, Daicos (J. Ward, D. Stephens, C. MacDonald)
RUC: Grundy, English (Dixon)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Cogs, Brodie, McGovern, Rachele (N. Martin, J. Hayes)

Changes I'm looking at are either:

A) Xerri for McGovern and Hall for Whitfield or

B) Xerri + Heeney + Bowey for McGovern, Whitfield + one of Ward or Berry (Rachele moves to MID bench).

Not sure of which way to go but I'm feeling the pressure to make some changes to keep up with the pack.

Anyone looking at Jack Sinclair?

He's giving me Brayden Maynard vibes and is passing the eye test so far as a potential POD?
I'm glad someone else is looking at him as I thought I was the only one.... it was originally Wogitalia who did a positive write up on him in the first round but he looks like he's playing more at the stoppages, good few weeks i'm just not 100% sure if Ratten moves magnets around? seems like he's pushing up to the stoppage very quickly off half back, who's spot has he taken in the mids? any Saints fans who might be able to shed some light?

Any Eagles fans able to shed some light on Foley? Is the JS and PS there or is it just the injuries and recent covid shenanigans?

I really like Sinclair but the midfield role probably doesn't hold up when Jones, Clark and Billings are all back to provide a bit of pace/class in that area although it probably should as he's shown he's much better than Crouch or Ross over the past couple of weeks already.

That said, I thought he was a sneaky option coming into the season with Coffield out he was the primary rebounder and averaged well last year.

Like a number of coaches, I am considering trading out Gawn before he starts losing cash (Grundy is R2). As a swap for another keeper Ruck, I think the best bet is English because he only needs to make FWD premium status. Has obviously started well, though I still have some doubts about him with S.Martin lurking.
Darcy, NN, ROB, Marshall I’m not really interested in due to price v my perception of their scoring power and/or durability concerns.
Jackson is intriguing but at a price that won’t give me enough cash to do anything useful this round.

The other option is to trade down to free up a heap of cash that I would likely use to upgrade a MID rookie to Miller or Brayshaw (already have Macrae/Oliver/Neale/Cripps). Preuss would work great for this but his JS and durability are big issues. The next best bet might be Meek. He’s done ok so far, even with Darcy in the team and there’s a good chance Darcy gets injured again.

Gawn to Preuss
Ward to Miller
OR
Gawn to Meek
Ward to Brayshaw

Also open to the idea of just keeping Gawn. And I think Ward could still be a good cow.
I’ve got all the necessary rookies and MPs so don’t need to trade this week.
But Miller or Brayshaw look like doing a lot better than Gawn and Meek or Preuss should at least equal Ward.
Hmmm...

option A for me. Either way, Xerri is a must have I think.

Hayes at R2 just isnt something Im a fan of in the slightest, hes no gaurantee to even stay in the side until you can swing Xerri let alone score sufficient points with Ryder and Marshall in the side.
I agree, but a combo of Hayes/Preuss (if selected) could hold down R2 for awhile.

With 372k Bank I've got a few juicy early upgrade options available to me in Rd3. I already have Cripps & Hewett, so will look to get in Heeney or Hall this week.

McGovern > Hall (via DPP)
Owens > Dyl Stephens
Bank 2k

or

McGovern > Heeney
Owens > Dyl Stephens
Bank 120k

I'm leaning towards the 2nd option as 120k would go a long way towards an early upgrade in Rd5-6
I started Hall and didn’t start Heeney. Heeney’s roll still isn’t rolled gold Mills like, but a fit Heeney, and I don’t think we’ve seen that for a while, is truly something. I’m buying the second part of this story, suggest you do to. Both top 6 in their line, don’t think you can go wrong.

I think I could only do it if Preuss is named this week. Hayes even with a 50 this week goes up something like 80k and then you're making money on the trade come round 5. The way I see it that's 120 or so points lost at R2 over two weeks and I make them back on Petracca alone, never mind Heeney.

The tricky thing is that I don't think Gawn is actually playing that badly, he's getting to all the right spots but just not clunking those intercept marks that are so good for his score. So there's serious burn potential, no doubt - but I can't help but think continuing to fade Heeney and Petracca has even more.

Hardwick on AFL360 said the tigers put a lot of time into shutting Whitfield down/ real focus on keeping him quiet.
They executed the plan well obviously, question is will other clubs starting with the suns this week do the same …?

No doubt clubs have put time into Whitfield before, not sure on the details of the tigers plan for him but maybe it caught GWS by surprise as the tigers traditionally don’t really tag as a team.

Currently got

Gawn, Ward, Owens out for Witts, Crisp, Bowey. Passing on Hewett. Can only get one of him and cripps without a sideways trade. Though leaves me stuck with Ridley lol.

Or Gawn and Owen's out for witts and cripps. Have the option of gibcus to bowey with the boost. Or just hold the trade.

Why is Crisp a priority over Hewett?

Crisp has a 144 breakeven and will likely lose money, whereas Hewett will jump up 50K with a 90.

I have no idea what to do this round. I don't have Rowell, i want him but i don't think he is an ABSOLUTE must. My heart was set on Caldwell pre R1, had him in my team for alot of the pre-season but then 'played it safe' & went with the crowd & swapped him to Berry just prior to R1. (always pay for it when i go against my instincts). Missed selecting Xerri also, mainly because i went 3 premos instead of the 2 i've seen alot have, so it meant one of Rachelle or Brodie would of had to miss.

Anyhow, i'm thinking the following:

1: Gawn to Witts or English?

2: Meade to Xerri (via Brodie), also gives me back the mid/fwd link that i broke prior to R1.

3: Berry to Rowell or Caldwell?

Doing these would also net me another 120k in the bank (if Gawn to Witts), had just under 40k prior, will have just under 160k after the above trades.

Still think Gawn will come good and can trade him back into the team if he warrants later on.

Any thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

im going caldwell and got two options
option a: cripps doesnt fare with a full health carlton midfield, he doesn't do that good
option b: cripps still pumps up monster scores so im trading caldwell for him
i made a trade to go from berry to caldwell, why? because merrett is out and he's averaging 90+ with merrett
