Pruess, site unseen at R2, and Hayes/ Hugh Dixon backup at R3 is a bold move Cotton without a Ruck in the Forwards to swing.

Yes, it might work - but if the injury prone mountain and third wheel saint are both out next week, then it's at least one trade to stop a donut.

Agree. I wouldn't be taking Preuss as a long term play at R2 and only Hayes as cover. That's asking for trouble.

However, I'm happy to take the risk on Preuss for one week (rucking solo without Flynn) and bring in English next week (as a forward) for the cover / looping. It's an extra $40k for English but at $525k he's still a good buy. It's pretty clear after three rounds that English can be top 6 forward and possibly a top 2 ruck.

I went Dusty to Heeney.
Now looking at
Gawn -> Preuss
Gov -> Trac

Leaves me enough cash to get Berry to English next week.

Now wondering whether I need an English plan for next week, he'll be ~537k after a rise this week.

Gawn > Rachele
Chapman > Hewett

The above double leaves me with 353k (preserves the trade boost) to do McGovern > English. I would then have the below team with 32 trades and around 80k:

Stewart, Short, Whitfield, Hewett, McCartin, Hinge (SDK, Gibcus)
Macrae, Touk, Oliver, Neale, Rowell, Horne, Daicos, Stephens (Ward, Macdonald, Hough)
Grundy, English (Hayes)
Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Martin, Dixon)

Thoughts? Only 'concern' I see is No Cripps.

Probably a bit too bold without seeing a couple of games from him first. Flynn being dropped after one good game and one bad game makes me wonder if Cameron will rotate the two rucks at regular intervals.

Is there anybody that hasn’t/isn’t trading Gawn?
I had decided to, but I'm now unsure.

My plan was to trade

1. Gawn to Jackson
2. Long (FD) to Hewett (via SDK forward)

(the SDK <> McCartin D/F link would be handy)

But if Long is named as a starter, it seems a bit counterintuitive. If he's a sub then it's even more problematic.

It really comes down to if Hewett is a must?, and the money Gawn will lose vs what Hewett (or Long) will make.

Can anyone remind me of Long's scoring potential and JS?

Does Hewett keep up this level of scoring as well?

I can't really work it out.

Any advice super welcome.

*(Also on some wicked painkillers at the moment, so I'll need all the help I can get - or maybe I'll make better decisions. Doubtful though.)

Here's my team:

Reckon we wait for Preuss to bubble and then make the call. Get some more info on the r/f lads and see if Preuss is worth it.

I’d really like to see Darcy miss a couple, then do Gawn > Meek for a couple of weeks, then Meek > Preuss and eventually get the Beard back, but probably getting ‘too cute’ and will backfire big time and I’ve wasted a few trades when the play is prob just to back the big fella in. I feel I have enough cows not to worry about Gawns $$ loss, it’s the onfield points that I need. McGov will go for Xerri depending on how Rachele goes tonight. Prob have to give Cripps &/or Hewett a miss at this rate.. too many decisions.

Yes but right now regretting not trading him to English who’s no longer a bargain forward at $525k.
Wrong mindset I think, arguably still presents great value at 525k, not as much as at 480k, but still value.
He won't keep scoring 150's but even if he was more expensive you're probably still trading in an F1-F3. Maybe even an R1 or R2. And he can cover both lines.

Been eyeing off English fwd pre-season, last week and last night so the 150 pts hurts. Decided to keep Gawn but he may drop $45k so it’s a 90k loss if I do the trade next week which I definitely won’t now. It’s a missed trade and won’t revisit till upgrade season or a premo injury.

At least now you have seen his potential and can pick him with pretty solid confidence as a versatile keeper with the magic round 13 bye.
I'm saying that's worth 40 grand which is what Stephens almost went up by so I'm figuring that's a fair trade.
Might have an extra week to think about anyways.

Fark - didn't realise Ned Long had been named.

Doubt he plays. Howe in for Phillips is the obvious change. Looks ripe to be the sub which is problematic.

What kinda donut are you Ned!!

I guess that answers the question of who would play first out of Ned and Hollands

Extended bench, not a definite in yet. No debutant announcement that I have seen. Expecting he is an emergency. Again.

Ummed and ahhed about trading Gawn, probably would've gone to English, but ultimately couldn't find anywhere obvious to spend the extra cash, so decided to hold. Though i'd be lying if I said watching English go huge last night didnt make me feel a little uneasy.

McGovern out has forced my trading hand, so think i'll go

McGovern > Caldwell and leave it at that

Still need to get Martin in, and I reckon O'Driscoll might be in for a run of games so wouldnt mind getting him in too....DPP is appealing.

So may consider pulling the trigger on one of these two this week to allow myself some more flexibility next week...
