What about Pavlich do you reckon he will average 95+?
Weighing up between him and T Mitchell at the moment.
Heard Pav had an injury free preseason, but was un impressive in the NAB but why should he be, they were smashed. I think reiwoldt had no NAB last year and did great.
I currently have both Pav and Mitchell T. I wouldn't worry about Pav's NAB, its not for Superstars to shine, just to get a bit match fitness.
I think Pav will be 95-99. Mitchell potentially similar, but I would have Pav before him.

Rowsus, I'm pretty confident with the players in my side. Just a bit concerned about how many keepers I've got.

How many do u think is a neccessary number for:

a. the amount of certain keepers (certain 95+ and 105+ in mids)
b. the amount of possible keepers (likely 85+ and 95+ in mids)

Thanks that would be a big help.

Hey Rowsus,

With Dunstan likely starting for my team as M8 and Cunningham as M10, do you think its exessive to have a rookie like Viv Michie on the bench as M9?
I'm juggling M9 between Crouch (117k and vest candidate), Michie (172k), Aish (187k) and Roberston (117k) at the moment.

To everyone else, who have you got as M9,M10?

The extra cash could be used to say upgrade a Cox to a Minson, or a Franklin to a Martin for example..
I'd definitely grab the cash and upgrade. I like Michie, and he was one of first picked, but if he's on your bench, swap him for Crouch, and grab the upgrade.
My M9/10 is Dunstan and Cunningham/Crouch.

Hey Rowsus, great thing you're doing for the community here

I wanted to know your opinion on McVeigh - is the price tag really worth it for someone who aside from last year has only averaged around High 90s? Or is this consistency mixed with potential for the 107+ output worth the price?

If not, who would be a potential contender for a D2 spot behind Mithcell if Enright is considered D3? C

Thanks mate, appreciated.

Hi Rowsus,

Do you see having both McVeigh & Mitchell at the start as a must have? Or do you think starting one of them is enough as splashing the cash on both is quite costly considering it's for the defense. If so which one do you think is the better starting pick?

Thanks

Hey Rowsus, I know you'll be busy with the 'rate my team' special but if you get a chance I'd love to hear your thoughts on Lobbe now Renouf has been upgraded. Was happy with him as a selection and the overall balance of my team but now a little nervous. If I go Laidler down to Langdon (whichever the Collingwood one is) then I can upgrade him.. Am I jumping at shadows here??

I think you need a minimum 12 Keepers, and you actually don't need any of the others. It's nice to have 1 or 2, but you don't need them.

I honestly think he is a bit too overpriced. It's ok to have a couple of overpriced players in your team, but not a player with only one season's history at that level, and especially not a Def. I actually have Enright at D2, but the other option is Hibberd. I'm just a bit wary of him coming off a niggle, and starting slow.

I actually don't see either as a "must have", especially McVeigh. I think Mitchell is a better pick, as he has more history at that level of scoring. McVeigh is quite possibly/probably a mid 90 point player that spiked last season. One's enough, but if you have LOTS of cash leftover, and your happy with your team, there's no great harm in grabbing the other.

I think there is enough doubt to change him out. I swapped him out on Wednesday!

Hi Rowsus,

Thanks for the feedback in the Rate My Team thread.

I have tinkered with my team a little but have questions on a few players.

Shaun McKernan @ F6 instead of Caddy. Concerned over my Ruck situation (Ryder & Sandi) and he played very well for limited time during the NAB. Gerard Healy rated him to have a breakout year this year & I rate Healy's opinion highly.

Shiels @ M4 over Murphy. If he doesn't tag, he'll explode. If he tags, he'll flop. Risk vs reward etc. Thoughts on Shiels.

I've also left 190k in the bank to fix errors after Round 2.

Cheers.

Don't forget, Healy isn't talking SC breakout, he's just talking team breakout. If you wouldn't pick him as a straight Forward, which I suggest you don't, then don't pick him at all. Not sure why you think Shiels won't tag. He's good at it, and no one tags (pretty much) in the NAB, not even Crowley. Too high risk for mine, I'd prefer Murphy.

Gday Rowsus

Interested to know what you think the ideal midfield structure is given the rookies that have been named thus far. I was pretty bullish on a 3/0/7 midfield however given Laidler, Langdon and the likely naming of Georgiou, is a 4/0/6 mid setup with 4 back rookies (Langford and McDonald look startable imo) back on the cards? Im also not sold on the js of Cunningham, Robertson, Cripps and the other relevant mid rookies who would be natural m10s.

Cheers in advance

G'day AA,
I'm not sure there is an ideal Mid structure that fits all teams. It depends on the balance of the whole team. Some sides are better 3-0-7, some are better 4-0-6. Don't be lulled into thinking that round 1 selections of Def Rookies means they have JS. I still think any line other than the Mid is risky to have more than 3 Rookies this season.

Hey Rowsus, do you think it's too risky starting with McDonald at D5 and another rookie at D6?

This is the one quandary I have. It's really eating at me. That's my structure at the moment, but I just can't be sure the likes of Langdon, Langford, Georgiou and Laidler will get games.

Hence my thinking now tells me it's best to maybe sacrifice McVeigh for Swallow and upgrade my F6 to Suckling so I have a hackline of Mitchell, Enright, Swallow, Suckling, Webster and McDonald.

Cheers

Hey SOG, the 2nd one seems the safer option, but that's why it is called risk vs reward. If you get away with McDonald at D6 you have virtually saved a trade!
