I know. Sometimes the hard and fast rules need to be broken to get better. Who says it's too late to go? If it works it works, you're ahead anyway. Going "late" on a player doesn't mean you've lost if it works. If it doesn't work it's frustrating. But if you're left carrying those underperformers and in hindsight, it would have been better to go for broke, it's even more frustrating when you hold off.

There's a lot of luck involved, but that's what I was on about with my SC history last round. I generally observe the conservative rules, and consistently finish around 5k give or take - respectable, but... I want to beat my previous best finish of 300 or so.

Trying to get that break, change it up... its a game of chess. Bloody hard. And you know you're going to be harder on yourself if it goes wrong - or that's my habit anyway. A personal habit that if I break might help me in many areas of my life.

Still, after round 5 or 6 you're still in it or you're not. Not saying that the Green trade is the right one, but it's one of those one's that can make or break a good or a great year.

That's said, the variables involved at the moment make it even harder. Good luck whichever way you go.

And every now and then you have this moment where you go: it's a game that costs me no money to play, but I treat it as if it's more important than my ****ing job! Or maybe that's just me too...

Sometimes I try to remind myself that the guys up in the actual coaches' boxes coaching these actual teams make mistakes... how do they detal with it. But also the decisions they make risky decisions that win games, and legendary premierships. It's different in many ways, but you keep going - deal with what you've got in front of you.

Sometimes, when the time is right, breaking the rules is the way to go. I could have got that Telecaster cheaper last week, but I still want it and believe it will perform better than the one that won't hit the notes I want.
Mate you're 100% right and that's my life to a T - conservative, not a risk taker and consistent and that's pretty much how I've played a fantasy footy all my life. I always say I'll take a risk but never do and then just kick myself when I know I should've. I'm a gut feel type player also......

There's plenty in here I think like myself that take Fantasy Football more serious than their work :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I certainly know it can shape my weekend depending on what happens Thurs/Fri nights
I'm not a big risk taker in life, but treat supercoach like a game so I take lots of risks. I don't mean pin the tail on the donkey, but look at role changes or fitness etc. I'd rather crash and burn then safely finish 999th.
I can get annoyed so I have some "rules". Couple of things that help me is not to follow scores during a game. I'll just keep track of loopholes over the weekend. And I'll often watch a game with the volume turned down and play music or sometimes a word game on the computer. Something that doesn't need my full attention. Especially if it's Freo.
If things are really pear shaped then I'll switch off.

I actually haven't heard of him Herbie, I'll look him up. Tsitas is definitely one I'm keeping an eye on
No idea what he is like as a footballer , thought his name was pretty cool sounding when he got drafted.

3 cheap mid downgrade options around Round 7-8 would be quite handy providing Rachele , Stephens & Ward have made plenty of $ by then.

Yeah, I've stopped watching live scores. I might check them at halftime if I'm watching a game, but otherwise, nah. You sound like a bit of a Zen supercoacher I should aspire to be.

It's an interesting conversation - and reflection of character.

Thoughts on Rachele to Gollant, Crisp to Hall
Then potentially going for a third trade and getting rid of Gibcus, McCartin or Hinge and getting a defender with a cap of around 430k

I think they are a bit too sideways even for me. Maybe Rachele and Gibcus to Gollant to D if you must

I am not sure anyone should be picking Gollant to be honest....kicked 4 goals against a bottom four side and only scored 79...

Tex back....dunno, doesn't feel like a winning pick to me, but I am often wrong

Taking a great deal of strength to stop me from trading Berry to Green - Loving Green's role, he's right up there and appears to be the got to man for CBA's and ahs the body for it. Must resist the urge but it's not easy.
Another aspect of my thinking is that we're keen as to grab Cripps as he was 'back to his best', yet the form of Green (who many predicted as a breakout candidate ala Clayton Oliver) is matching Cripps' so far.

Question will be whether it can continue thus scaring many away.

Contemplating the following,

Gawn to Pruess
D.Stephens to English (via Rachelle to mid)

Not sure its worth it. My concern with Gawn after seeing 3 games now is his clanger count and his ruck work. Just seems a half step slower, and is giving too many free kicks away in the ruck contest, and seems to be getting beaten in the ruck contest. 22 disposals on the weekend and only a 117. Not sure what his HTA was but im guessing it has been low this season. I wonder whether he can get the big scores this year as a result. Also, not sure I can watch another bulldogs game without having English in my team. No one seems to man up on him so he just roams free picking up possession after possession. Will prob hold tight as I don't like trading premiums generally. Any thoughts on this?

A bad game from Gollant and he'd get dropped. Won't score 4 goals every game. Rachele the perfect example of this like in Rd 1.

Way too sideways. Crisp outscored Hall on the weekend. Crisp also up against West Coast this weekend. May go huge.

B/E's
Gibcus 8 - Has good js, a slow burner on the bench.
McCartin -17 - Has a great role and great js.
Hinge -37 - Not sure why'd you'd even entertain getting rid him, he outscored Hall on the weekend.

The 430k not quite enough for upgrade season. Too early.

I think the time to offload Gawn to English was last week. You may have missed the boat. It's about an 80k loss doing the trade now. Gawn scored well on the weekend, so should be a hold now. May need another avenue to grab English. The Stephens to Preuss trade could be worth it if Stephens gets dropped this week (via dpp).

I should have mentioned that I would only be contemplating those trades if Stephens is dropped. He still has money to make if he plays. Gawn has a good run of opponents coming up to, hence my reluctance to trade him. His clanger count this year has been awful. Im sure if he had committed even half of these he would be looking at an average around 110 right now and this wouldn't even be a discussion.

It's actually only a 46K loss on those trades last week, since Stephens went up 34.5K too

Those contemplating trading in Preuss as R 2 are taking a big risk. Ballsy but gez his injury history is off putting.
I agree, however if you have English in the forward line to cover, the risk decreases significantly. Of course that doesn't help if gets injured in game and puts up a bad score.

On Green, as good as he looks, 2 of his 3 best scores in 2021 were when he kicked 2 goals (111 and 123) and he went under 100 in 14/15 of his other games.

This year, his two best scores are when he kicked 2 goals (164 and 147) - not sure how often he is going to be doing that (2/17 last year)

That being said, he's also at 29+ possessions in all 3 games this year when that was his peak last year.

Could be a keeper but I really struggle to see him kicking 2 goals a game (or even averaging a goal a week for the rest of the season)
Might be able to average 110+ without the goals though still!
From memory, Green was a massive pig as a junior so he certainly has the chops and I wouldn't doubt his ability. However, it's worth remembering that he's only 21 and this is only his third season so he's not yet in that elite level age bracket, which is not to say he can't be elite at a young age, it's just that the odds are he will have more off games. The other main concern is Leon Cameron. Query what happens when Toby Greene returns, which will presumably see a re-shuffle of midfield opportunities (Taranto??)

WHo's your defender? I'd have someone in mind that you're 100% certain will help improve your team rather than just finding someone for the sake of it.

Crisp to Hall is pretty sideways too.

I'd be passing on that mate.
