Struggling with Durdin vs Stephens to Martin
I am contemplating the same, however I also have Owens rotting away on the mid bench. Handy donut, but with Durdin missing this week, Owens donut powers are negated somewhat....I know I should move him on, but I just can't bring myself to use a trade on a player who isnt going to put any money in my kitty

Long story short, I probably lean towards trading Stephens as Durdin's JS seems pretty good, offers a good loop option this week and there's no telling when we might see Stephen's again....

Is this worth it;
Owens + Durdin - Dixon + Dow?

Owens not looking likely at all for another game. Get Dixon's price rise then he can be my loophole when he gets dropped in a few weeks time.

Dow definitely has the upside on Durdin who I think would be a really slow burn and probably struggle to go above $260k.

Is it too much of a sideways trade without enough upside?
If cash generation is a priority, then yes, I would make those trades.

Been tossing up all day as to whether I'll move Stephens or Hough to Cripps.

Think I'll back the draft pedigree in Stephens to work his way back into the team and move Hough.

Happy that he's getting a full game of reserves and won't be the sub.

If we are talking about the good Dow from Richmond, here are some achievements.
  • at 2 yrs he held his breath and swam the English Channel underwater twice
  • at 5 yrs he decided to take up crocodile wrestling to keep fit
  • at 7 yrs he broke the 4 minute mile running backwards
He is being picked because of his contested ball work and elite disposal by ✋.

Richmond need the younger players to step up and he is the only one doing so.

The Stephens to Dow question has been posed a few times already in this thread - I'm certainly tossing up over it.
At this stage, I reckon Dow looks likely to get games for the Tiges & we know he will get a nice price-hike this week.
The real snag is Stephens.
If we knew he would be back next week, I'd hold. If we knew he would miss for 4 or more I'd definitely hit the trade button.
Where would others in the community draw the line here?

Why not?

The premium at R2 is replaced with a solo rookie ruck that has a scoring floor of ~80 and a ceiling of ~130. The Stephens/Ward/Rachele scoring 40 on field is replaced with a premium midfielder.

Could easily still come out on top (y)
Why not? 160 points a pretty good starting point…..

Whilst Pruess is a strong selection I wouldnt personally have traded Gawn to make that change….
could move on Jack Hayes ( been dropped this week) or a slow burning rookie instead….

Time will tell on the outcome….always dependant on a needs basis …

Stephens is not making us money playing in the Reserves, while Dow will. Stephens last year was in and out of the Senior side all season, looking like it is happening again. Highly likely Stephens will play again, but when?

The thing that bothers me a bit with Stephens is that he's revealed a lower floor than any of us would have liked to see. Even semi-regular scores in the 50's will go a long way to killing his cash gen speed and peak longer term and it looks like he certainly has issues when the opposition or game situation don't allow him to play relatively bruise free link-up footy out on a wing.

Burning a trade and hoping that Dow can at least break even (probably needs to make 230k or so to make the sums work and that's assuming he can be a heavier scorer than your Stephens / Ward / Macdonald types) is definitely a risk. Glad we've got another day to sit on this one that's for sure...

Reckon I might flick Stephens > Martin & Hayes > Dixon, frees up some moolah, just a bit worried about Dixon losing his spot when O Allen is back, have no idea when that is.

Tom Green in? Stephens, Marshall out? Just can't make any decisive calls!

Struggling a little bit... only used 2 trades so far, so thinking one of these two options.

Option 1: Owens to Dow
Option 2: Stephens to Dow, Hayes to Preuss

Feel like this is a good chance to get some cash generation going - but not sure if it's too sideways?

medi sub - bullcrap position - could have looped Butters if Hayes was dropped and we knew about. Could also go early on Preuss and put him on the ground over Martin but not worth the risk with Hayes unknown. May as well hold off and put Martin on the ground over Rachelle.

I like the Owens to Dow option.
Preuss, Stephens and Hayes can wait another week to see how Preuss performs and to see if the other 2 play next week.

You need to factor in the potential for Dow scoring more heavily somewhere in there, don't you?
Maybe. I have Durdin on the bench and Dow wouldn't push anyone off the ground but that could be the case for others. We're guessing on Dow's ability to score and keep that role. Durdin's job seems secure, he has more cash to make and is good for looping this weekend.
To me it just looks like itchy fingers.

Think I'm leaning that way too - appreciate the support. Not the best feeling having Stephens, Hayes and Durdin not making cash this week but think most are in a similar boat.
