I just need to work out if Butters fits as a season long forward keeper or not , Dunkley , Heeney & Cogs taking up 3 spots.

Who gets F status added , who else do I want ?

If I want Preuss next round is Butters my best way of getting him or not.

Is Xerri still worth holding onto as R cover if he gets F/R status.

Does Butters himself end up as a F/M which could be advantageous moving forward.

Lots of things to consider.
I suspect Butters will likely end up as a F/M DPP, he's played enough time in the middle to warrant it I reckon and only needs to hit the 35% of game time mark.

Xerri looked pretty ordinary today and most of his ruckwork was sharked especially at the CBA's, but he should hit his 150-200k target fairly quickly and still might be reasonable ruck cover / F6 material beyond that if he can maintain that #1 ruck role.

I'm not so sure that Cogs takes up a keeper spot either, the 149 threw the cat amongst the pigeons a little but is the range of his other scores (ie. 64-99) more like what we can reasonably expect?

You're right though, there are lots of things to consider on all lines both right now and in the short and medium terms.

It's more about moving on the DEF rookies than anything, a lot of the DEF premos are so up and down like you mentioned in your earlier post, which makes it hard to do straight 1-down-1-up moves on the DEF line when we don't really have a good read on any of the DEF premos that have "fallen" at this point.

We also know that the more prolific cash cows generally tend to pop up in the midfield as the season progresses but the current crop of MID rookies looks like it might take a bit longer to moo - Daicos and JHF because their ceiling is higher, Stephens, Ward and McDonald because of their lowish scoring - so the downgrades might need to be triggered on other lines initially to get a specific upgrade target in.

Personally Stephens is almost certainly leaving my team to make room for Preuss next week, after which my rookie group is looking really solid - Hinge, McCartin, SDK, NOD, Daics35, JHF, Rachele, Ward, Macdonald, Preuss, Hayes, Martin, Dixon (plus the fairly standard 200k+ types in Berry, Xerri, Brodie, Cogs), with only two trades used (if I bring Preuss in).

The harder part is going to be unpacking them all in the right order, which again might require some DPP links to be set up if I can manage it.

As an aside I'm not too fussed if Dixon and/or Hayes aren't getting a game as they'll still act as useful loop agents on the FWD and RUC lines with Grundy, English, Zerri and possibly Preuss all needing to be juggled in the short-to-medium term.
Good post.

Once Round 5 is completed I will have a clearer plan of what I can do , need another 2 price rises out of all my rookies yet.

Currently running :-

Hinge , McCartin / Gibcus , SDK
JHF , Daicos / Rachele , Stephens , Ward
Dixon / Hayes
. / Durdin , Martin

Obviously hoping all my bench players can make that $ 150k magic profit before downgrading (could be questionable on many of them at the moment)

Also have 7 mid pricers

Blakey
Berry , Brodie , Rowell
.
Coniglio , Curnow , Xerri

so hoping the majority of them can be at least 85-90 and making $$$

Have 12-20 fallen premiums I am currently tracking plus waiting on the first lot of DPP.

So yeah lots of ideas/thoughts going around at the moment but just need to wait a couple more rounds before things become clearer.

With Martin, Hinge, Sicily, Cripps, Hewett, Rowell & Miller to come.

Was able to double loop and take the higher of JHF & McCartin. Xerri with a shocker. Owning the top 3 pies players was great, all going huge. Crisp can keep yo-yoing as long as he produces these big scores every 2nd game. Grundy much better than last week. Daicos just wow! Dixon a missed oppprtunity to loop him... Here's hoping Hayes is the sub? 🤣. Just gotta hope Martin can get close to Dixon's score.

Neale VC over Macrae was a 30 point loss, not the worst result. New recruit Dow with a respectable score. Whitfield needs to play a proper full game, a bit worried about him. Brodie just wow!

Here's hoping to break 2.3k!

1796 / 16 + Macrae

Ridley, Curnow, Hinge, Cripps, Rowell, Hewett to come.

Happy enough. Live ranking has me sitting around 190. Last minute sideways trade of Crisp to Lloyd certainly didn’t work out early on. Would have been comfortably ensconced in the top 50 without it, but can’t complain too much.

Heard a Forward asked that exact question 3 or 4 seasons ago.
Response was something like "Oh yeah, it's something we work really hard on. The other day I took 25-30 shots on goal at practice".
When they flicked back the studio, one of hosts said "I guess that's the difference. They think taking 30 shots at goal is working hard, when Plugger would do extra practice by himself, 2 or 3 times a week, kicking 100-120 shots at goal, from all angles and distances."
Matty Lloyd has said something similar. He’d stay back after every session as well to do extra. Usually with Scott Lucas.

Another round & still haven't managed to get a VC/C decision correct. This time I shifted the VC off Macrae & onto new recruit Green

Going to roll the dice with the C on Cripps.

Will take 2250 & move on.
