Provided you don't have Macrae , Mills & Smith in your mids to cover as well.

Doubt to many people will have 3-4 F/M's in their midfield to swing in any case.
The swing doesn’t really help if you already have Macrae, Miller & Bailey Smith/Mills sitting on the mid bench though. Most teams would have at least 2 of those players you would think.
In that situation it wouldn't matter if you had 5 fwds and 3 mids or 6 mids and 2 fwds in R13, it's still 8 out of 19 missing. It can work fine as long as the other lines don't have many R13 players. The issue with too many missing on one line, is when it results in over adjusting other lines to balance out bye rounds. For example, if you have 5 forwards, but you only have 2 midfielders with R13 bye, leaving you with 9 playing midfielders and wasted score on the bench in R13. This is why I pointed out that most of those players have DPP, which can fix this issue provided you have a mid with DPP too.

I can’t pick a top 6, not even close. Seriously options abound, especially as it’s not free to switch out of Ridley et Al types. I think there is some hope of an interesting final series with defence leading the way.
Yeah, I'm resigned to keeping Ridley and Whitfield until I've got all the rookies off the field. By then, who knows if Ridley turns it around. He's shown signs here and there, as have Essendon - but I'm not banking on it. Whitfield seems completely cooked - where there's some sort of malaise that has fallen on Essendon after positivity and progress last year, or rather the malaise has returned...

The problem is, I've dropped to 19k after being top 4k overall a few weeks ago - and with the lack of variety I'm not sure how I'm going to make those points back. Nailing VC/C is going to be more important than ever -my drop last week was largely due to a failed C. Had I gone with one of my other choices, I'd still be at least in the top 5 to 10k or so. I did bring in B.Smith in as a bit of a POD with the the idea there was a good chance he'd get become a M/F, but I'm not sure that will pay off, especially with the quality of English who seems a must have, and how many of the best forwards come from just two teams. If Dusty comes back refreshed it would make it a bit more interesting.

It's hard to plan too far into the future, then there's the particular way coaches use their boosters (a lot seem to be burning through them and we are only a third through the season, this will end up being an advantage overall, but could bite at the other end in the context of League focus) - along with the dearth of genuine premos is going to make this year harder to make up ground.

If this is true, the those who trade aggressively and get to the same side faster have a huge advantage... the rest are playing catch up.
Those Coaches who are not trading hard will have an advantage when injuries stike, as they do, in the latter half of the season. 2/3rds of the AFL season still to go.

I dont think so, I'll complete a side with like 10 trades left, this year theres no point being conservative for mine, smash the upgrades and get the points in the bank.

Depends on their trade ins/outs as well. Lots of people burning rookies early and paying overs for last week's heroes. They may struggle for cash for their last few upgrades, and get a few "not quite" premos to "complete" their team.

if they keep 35 trades next year will consider not playing anymore
“Well Steve, the results of the focus group are in. We’re bumping the number up to 35 to keep the trade-happy monkeys interested.”

“But boss, that means rusted-on SuperCoach tragics like @Blue Bloods might give the game away for good!”

“Just do your job, code boy.”

Yep, that is the problem with 35 trades, players are happy to use a trade to turn a underperforming premium to a hot premium, if they keep 35 trades next year will consider not playing anymore.

The only advantage is competing your side a week or two before the masses and plan your byes.
Well that will bump me up a spot each year, so that'll be nice. :p

Anyone using this round to fix their mediocracies, ie Whitfield, Butters etc? To get some big dogs in Gawn, Stewart etc?

Is Zorko a trap? He's a good price with the potential to average close to 110 if he plays midfield, but he's 33 and has injury concerns. Scoring up and down this year. Could be a steal or a disaster.

I need a def upgrade and looking at safer options like Pendlebury, Sicily, Crsip, but Zorko is tempting. Getting him should allow me the funds to get Petracca for Macdonald next week, but if I go for a more expensive option I may not have enough money.

Yeah, I'm looking at taking advantage of Cripps' and Parker's low prices. The only way to afford it is to trade out a mediocre player. The extra concern for me is that, I will have to use a Boost Trade, which I am weighing up, is it worth it?
Maybe having patience is better, as only the SuperCoach Gods know what is installed for us next week.
Last week I had 7 non-players in my team and this week, it is looking like I might not have a Captain Loop Non-Player.

Well he's in 1% of teams and a POD for a reason, he's been carrying an injury but seems to have got over it, I do like his ceiling and with most teams having completed their backlines then he seems like a good gamble to me hence he's in this week, also allows me to get Short next week after another look with Dusty back, albeit 30k or so dearer.

I'm not a Zorko fan because of the 3 reasons you gave. Too risky for me, but if you have ample trades left, then you can take the gamble.

Yep, Cripps and Parker look good value, do you have Gawn? I think he has to come in sooner than later for me.
