With my planned trade I will be flying a Preuss, SHayes, Strnadica ruck line this round. Question is who to field out of SHayes v Ryder/Campbell or Strnadica v Nank/Soldo. Any logic to fielding Strnad?

Or the chances he will get injured again
Yeah, has already got injured and missed twice during the season and once in pre-season. That's three injuries in 8 AFL rounds

Mind you, if he strings even 6 games together he will be a powerhouse. Darcy+Gawn ruck line ftw.

I'm pretty sure I'll be jumping on Darcy this week.

Durability is an absolute mess but the value is there and wont be after this week.

Witts really the only other option (another lesson in taking the value and then assess...) right now.

Anyone know what the go is with Strnadica?
Good question, I believe he went down sick (don't think it was covid) a few weeks back then the club has decided that they want to get games into Callum Jamieson & Bailey Williams( now that he is fit) as they are the future. It seems Strnadica is behind them in the pecking order along with Dixon, Dixon is more of a key fwd anyway so he is the backup if JK or Darling miss with Oscar Allen injured.

I am really debating about which ruck to bring in for Dixon (so S Hayes moves to R3) - Darcy & Witts were the main 2 I like.

Darcy can produce huge scores but can have some shockers like on the weekend, Witts seems more consistent & won that battle on the weekend.

Witts SC history :-

Moved to the suns end of 2016, has been excellent for them.

Scores this year :-

He is in great form, still scored well v a good opponent in Darcy on the weekend.

I was considering Darcy, SC history here :-

SC score this year:

Missed games, 4 out of 6 games under 100 & 1 absolute monster score.

Witts certainly looks the wiser/ more consistent option. Plays dogs next (Sweet, English still out), then Hawks (Lynch - Gawn scored massive v him) & then North (Goldy).

Thoughts?

Witts certainly looks to be benefitting from a better midfield (Touk, Rowell, Anderson) - don't have the numbers to back this up, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out a huge factor behind is increase in scoring is an increase in HTA. Has scored consistently well, and seems to have taken his range from 70-120 to 90-130... much better floor an increased ceiling. Looks an outstanding pick, and if he had started the year at 550k, everyone would be prioritizing him as a trade in - feel he is being overlooked/unappreciated due to him having risen so much already.

To me, Darcy feels a bit like when you bet on 0 playing roulette. When it pays off you look like a genius, but all the times it doesn't you're scratching your head wondering why you did it. Ceiling is undoubtedly incredible, and if he strings it together he can have a powerful 8-10 weeks, but the chances of a low score, injury (leading to being subbed out or missing a week) just ruin you. Reckon he is more a "pay $500k ride or die" pick than "safe as houses $580k" type.

Witts seems the most obvious ruck trade in when looking at this year in isolation. I've been waiting all year for the drop off but don't think it will come.

Think SHayes can have a decent couple of scores leading into the byes with Geelong (Blicavs/Stanley) and Essendon (Draper/Bryan).

Am in the same boat as many and think I'll back in SHayes for the next two weeks and give myself another couple of weeks of information or price drops (Gawn, Darcy) before moving on SHayes.

Witts was certainly the Ruck to start with and build your team around. Still value I think.

Ruck Contests Attended:
RD9:
M Gawn: 34
L Jackson: 32
I think that was always going to be the plan with Gawn's knee last week and Jackson having the week off. I wonder though whether they may play it a little conservative with Gawn up until later in the season just to ensure he's at full capacity going into the finals.

I think they did that last year, gradually reducing his TOG as the season went on.
