Surely Dixon has to come in for Rotham as a late change tonight? Did he (Dixon) get on the plane?
Yes Dixon is in Brisbane... No I don't think they would do that change... I think Dixon is the sub.

The Eagles have worked closely with the AFL regarding the replacement players... As much as the club probably want to drop Rotham for his nightclub trip... The club is still investigating the incident and I don't think the AFL would like us dropping a fit listed player for another WAFL top-up player. So Rotham plays this week, we get troops back next week and Rotham then serves whatever penalty the leadership group imposes after the investigation has concluded.

The Eagles have said they chose Jamieson over Dixon to have a good look at Jamieson in a ruck role (He played as a defender out of necessity in his only other AFL game). They need to see where Jamieson is at as a young ruckman by the end of the year and if he is worth keeping on the list after 3 seasons. Tonight is a good opportunity to do that.

I still believe Dixon is the preferred back-up ruckman with Strnadica as lead ruck.

Hope that gives some insight.

Nisbett on ABC radio this am :-

Players were told not to go to nightclubs. Not happy at all. Rothams only playing because we have no choice. Said there is no excuse

Players in question, and there may have been others, have put their list spot in jeopardy.

Sounds like Nelson & Rotham might be done.

Would be interesting if Rotham does play, that very quickly turns the narrative from "we're already short so don't do anything stupid" to "we can overlook that you did something stupid because we're short".

I don't envy your boys over there for the record, must be a bloody nightmare at the moment and both the AFL and WA government are doing both teams a massive disservice (but especially with the Eagles).

So there isn't that much point trading Goldstein in for two weeks of first ruck scoring.
Apart from his price rise, we don't know whether Xerri will have any further issues with the hotspot, he could be back in 6 if they don't closely monitor it. Noble might see the light and admit Goldstein gives him better usage playing in the ruck.

I just think it's an extrodinary circumstance that sees Rotham play... If we hadn't had these Covid cases on top of a horror injury list... there's no way he plays... He would have been stood down pending the outcome of the investigation.

I don't believe either player involved has had the chance to do a face to face with Simmo yet with Simmo in isolation... That would want to be done in person... and once again is just an extrodinary circumstance.

As Shannon posted... It might be career over for Nelson & Rotham.

They should be sacked immediately, give their list spots to a couple of these top up players (if it is allowed).

Yep it all makes sense - it would be a shame if the latter came to pass, but I guess that's the risk you take when you're a mid-20's fringe player on an AFL team and decide to do something stupid, especially when you've been told not to do it.
