impromptu has made a statement today that gambling posts are no longer permissible on this website. His site his rules.

I've amended the OP to reflect the new rule.
I won't miss any posts about betting, sorry for those that are into it but I think it's just throwing your money away.
But hey, how good was that champion's celebration?...very fun to watch and see some of the old boys (yesterday's champions) showing they still have the stuff to make birdies. That dude with one leg was awesome...what a swing he has, better than most of us plebs with 2 pegs.

Looks nice, do you flip those weights around much and does it make much difference when you do?
I'm still using my Taylormade R7 Driver and 3 wood from 2007 hahah, I love em though, so easy to hit good shots with.
Mine is an XD, set up for a draw. I actually went and had an independant fitting in February at Pure Form at the Melbourne Golf Academy when I came down to pack up the house after selling. So, I haven't been playing around with the set up at all, as we spent 3 hours using launch monitors making sure that I had the correct shafts, heads and set up for my game. An extra inch of length and larger grips have been noticeable. Just need to get out more often.

Not by design, I came away with Cobra Radspeed driver, fairway woods (3 & 5) and irons (4-GW), vokey wedges (54 & 60) and even the putter ended up being Cobra (King Vintage Nova).

My previous clubs were from 1998. A Brosnan Magnate 9.5. haha

Sounds like you were well overdue for a nice new set mate and that's a nice way to do it by getting professionally fitted, how did you go when you first used your new clubs with an extra inch length on em?
I've had the same Cleveland rusty blade wedges for about 20 years 48 Deg Pitching, 53 deg gap, 56 deg sand and 60 deg lob.
Same Oddysey White Hot putter for 20 years too, they all seem to work well for me still so I don't see the point changing em.
I remember Brosnan Clubs, my mate had a set of forged Brosnan Irons and they hit really well, think they're not around anymore are they ?

There was an immediate difference with the extra length. I'd had a previous set of clubs lengthened and was playing well. Then in 1998 I decided I'd upgrade with a decent set of 2nd hand clubs and custom driver. After struggling to find time to play, returning to playing regularly last year, I noticed how inconsistent I was with the standard length clubs. Now my setup is correct, and I don't have to adjust to get through the ball.

I had two putters in the bag. My fathers old double sided blade putter and another half mallet that I picked up in cash converters at some stage. I'm a decent putter, but the new blade is definitely an upgrade, especially on the longer putts.

Sounds like you have high quality wedges and putter, so probably, no need for a change.

The one thing that stands out between last centuries irons and the new set is the lofts. Still getting the feel for the right club distance wise.

So are you hitting the ball higher and not as far or higher and further than before? I've always extended my own clubs as needed, was going through a phase for a few years where I bought about 6 sets of irons from America on Ebay when the dollar was good lol.
I'm 6ft1" so usually have at least half an inch longer, any taller than that you should definitely have an inch or more added on.
You must've been crouching / bending over too far before with standard lengths, game's hard enough without having the wrong clubs ay? haha

Overdue on a golf thread.

I was rocking the Callaway S2H2 irons from my mid teenage years until 2014. Had a Bertha driver from sometime in the mid 2000's. Ping putter was generally the standard for my bag, had a couple, finished with an Anser.

Was over due for a new set in 2014 and chose to go with Bridgestone after hitting their gear. J40 driver, 3 wood, 3 hybrid, irons and wedges. Have never really liked the hybrid or 3 wood. Never grew up with them in my bag so the hybrid quickly made it's way out. If I ever add a driving iron, which is the plan if I get back to more regular golf, then the 3 wood will get shafted. Got the Odyssey Cruiser putter...love it. Finished the bag off with a 58deg Vokey wedge that I found in a bargain bin.

Great fun getting new sticks and playing those first few months with them.

Yeah, I'm nearly 6'3", so definitely crouching and not as flexible as years gone by. So, sort of a rotating and swaying motion combining, leading to bad ball striking.

The new 9 iron is the equivalent to the old 8, new 5 equivalent to the old 3, etc. So, definitely hitting them further but the new clubs also have more of a higher arc at the end of the ball flight, so they drop out of the sky at the end. i.e. less run. A lot of the other lofts sit between, that's where it's been harder, but I'm getting there. Very happy with the feel.

I need to get down to Cairns to a driving range that allows driver to be hit. Can't use woods on the ones here in Port Douglas.

Sounds great, you just need to have a hit a bit more often or a bucket of balls at the range until you're fully used to them, as far as the lofts sitting in between what you're used to, I'd always take one extra club, better to be long than short on most shots, and most non pros mis-hit half the time anyway :) That's strange, I've never heard of a driving range not long enough for a Driver haha

Play off 16 at Yering Meadows. At 63 I am happy with that. Bit lower in my younger days. Played since I was a kid, great game. Never coped with putting nerves. Hope there is a bit of wind at St Andrews.
Very decent handicap, that looks like a beautiful course at Yering Meadows, can't wait for the Open to start, yes some wind and lots of roll I think, I reckon Spieth might be a chance again if he can curb the whining for long enough, my tip is Schauffele though, that guy has a very solid game.
