Overdue on a golf thread.

I was rocking the Callaway S2H2 irons from my mid teenage years until 2014. Had a Bertha driver from sometime in the mid 2000's. Ping putter was generally the standard for my bag, had a couple, finished with an Anser.

Was over due for a new set in 2014 and chose to go with Bridgestone after hitting their gear. J40 driver, 3 wood, 3 hybrid, irons and wedges. Have never really liked the hybrid or 3 wood. Never grew up with them in my bag so the hybrid quickly made it's way out. If I ever add a driving iron, which is the plan if I get back to more regular golf, then the 3 wood will get shafted. Got the Odyssey Cruiser putter...love it. Finished the bag off with a 58deg Vokey wedge that I found in a bargain bin.

Great fun getting new sticks and playing those first few months with them.
I had the S2H2 Driver and Fairway woods, those things hit really solid for pre-titanium heads, the ball used to rocket off the face of those things.

Very decent handicap, that looks like a beautiful course at Yering Meadows, can't wait for the Open to start, yes some wind and lots of roll I think, I reckon Spieth might be a chance again if he can curb the whining for long enough, my tip is Schauffele though, that guy has a very solid game.
I will tip a long shot. Ryan Fox has been playing really well in Europe for majority of the year. Will be following him this weekend to see if his game can stack up against the big boys. It didn’t in the US majors, but think he will be better for the experience.

Overdue on a golf thread.
We have had a thread for quite a while, it's near the top of the second page, it has just had very few posts over the years.

I haven't been following golf enough lately to confidently pick a winner of the Open, but I did used to like playing St Andrews on a couple of golf video games over the years. It's a lot harder course than it looks, and some of those bunkers are nasty. I'll be cheering on any of the Aussies for a win, as usual.

As for playing golf - nah. Tried it a few times when I was younger, and I did enjoy it, but definitely not something I am good at, and haven't played in 10 years or so. If I could make it around a course without losing multiple balls in the rough/water I considered that a successful round. Might have managed that once or twice at most - spent more time off the fairway/green than on it.

What made you choose Yering?
I was a member of Croydon for many years until it was sold its now all homes. They bought the land out near Yarra Glen with the proceeds and built the course, I went with it. The course went broke a few years ago and it was bought by a chinese businessman who saved and resurrected it.

Nice first two rounds from Smith to be leading at half way. Scott currently top 10 as well, Lee and Herbert both T12 - hopefully we are in good shape to get an Aussie winner from here!

I was hoping Daly would make the cut, and he was on track to do it with 3 holes to go, before finishing with 3 bogeys. Oh well.

How good was day 3 of the Open? Hovland and McIlroy neck and neck to the end and both finished on -16, Cam Smith not as good a day as yesterday and sits on -12 still a good chance. Shane Lowry's back to back eagles on 9 and 10.
Lots of good players still in striking distance, should be an epic final round can't wait!

Awesome. I'm running on fumes after staying up and watching. Cam Smith could not buy a putt. The wonderous hands of Lowry, were astonishing.

All set up for another great night/morning of golf.
