Wow this one falls back in the pack of subjects pretty quickly haha, anyways..........

The other 3 guys who have joined my SCS Golf League, Ironhawk, Frosty and Vicwood, the BMW Championship starts at 3am on Friday on Kayo which means it actually starts probably sometime on Thurs afternoon so if you want to practice a week or 2 before the full season starts, set your rosters when you can. You need to pick 6 players, 4 playing and 2 bench, you can interchange them during the tournament.
To change a player mid tournament, just drag and drop them in the spot.

Spent about 2 mins entering a team, thanks for the reminder. Will probably do a little bit more research on players when the real thing kicks off.

No worries, the seasons are changing a lot each year, plenty of new talent coming through, I've been out of touch with the PGA Tour for the last 3 or 4 years so it's all new to me too going forward. It's a really long season though...like the MLB Baseball which goes for most of the year, so it's not always about how well you go now, it's how well you go overall by picking the reliable players who are consistent.

I've entered a team as well. Feel like I'm missing some intracacies, as I could just pick the top 6 in the world if I wanted and the ownership suggested that there wasn't a lot of reason to be diverting from that top group.

Will actually need to read the rules before the real thing kicks off!

Haha that'd be easy wouldn't it? That being said, Scottie Scheffler has been out of form lately and missed the cut in the St Jude championship, If nothing else, read the part about segments...you can only use a player 3 times in one segment of time and there are 4 segments during the year.
I had Mcilroy and Scheffler in the first fedex cup tournament and they both missed the cut so highly ranked doesn't always mean high scoring.
It's a bit of fun anyhoo, the main thing to remember is to get your roster in before it starts and check who did and didn't make the cut after round 2, and if any of yours missed, get your bench players into your top 4.

Thanks. Yeah seems a good plan.

I certainly haven't read the rules yet, and the segments bit seems like something I'd want to be on top of in the full season proper version.

I haven't been keeping up with the PGA Tour that well lately, so it will be a challenge, but have added a couple of golf podcasts to my list to try and keep on top of it.

The real issue is that just thinking about golf stuff (and I've barely played lately) has me contemplating what club changes I need to make, and if I end up accidentally buying new putters and drivers every 3 weeks on eBay it's going to end up a very expensive fantasy comp!!!!

So info question, I assume you lock in points per round, so if I think someone will bounce back I should move them into the active spot at the expense of someone who scored well in the first round who I think might tread water?

Neither does a ranking of "Top 85%" for the tournament. Not sure this is my sport.
Top 90% for the tournament now, and I had a better Rd 2, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Seems really bad, but looks like I'm beating @Russty_ this week, so I guess it could be worse?

Yes Frosty you can do that, but that counts as another 'use' for that player, as signified by the 3 dots below them.
My scoring has been bad too, lol, bench scoring better than on field players, swap em back again and it goes the other way again, haha, always the way. These fedex cup playo*** are only for practice and getting used to it. The regular season you'll have to think a bit more about spacing out your 3 uses per player over each segment by what tournaments they've done well in in the past.
I usually google PGA Tour results and you can look back on past tournament results over years and see how many top 10's a player had previous, the main thing is trying not to be in a position where you can't field 4 players for the 4 rounds, that's when you really lose ground.

Thanks. In definitely going to need to read the rules and understand the segments in the regular season. Seems to have been worth it for this tournament though (at this point) as moving those guys around has almost tripled my score from the first 2 rounds in the third round.

Is a use just a case of counting the points from someone? Can you blow 3 uses in a tournament by shifting someone back and forward?

Yes that's right, I started Tony Finau in last week's tournament, then this week's, then swapped him onto the bench when he scored -5 points lol, now Zalatoris got withdrawn from round 3 after 4 holes so I've swapped Finau back in again and that's all his 3 uses done.
So in the regular season you need to make sure you save your favourite players for the tournaments they've done well in, in that segment, which runs for around 2 months or so

Don't forget to get your picks in for the Tour Championship Ironhawk, Frosty and Vicwood, anyone else who wants to join the SCS Golf League, feel free to do so. Entry code is a bit further back in this thread.
New season starts a few weeks after the Tour Championship.

Already done, thanks.

Hopefully you do get a few more interested for when next season kicks off, I definitely recommend having a go at this practice round for anyone interested, to see how the scoring works etc. Only 30 in the field in this tournament, so it shouldn't be too tough to pick at least one who'll do OK, even for someone with minimal golf knowledge like myself.
