I played this in 2022A but didn't do that well and so didn't follow as closely as might have been helpful. Did anyone get a sense of what the winning strategy was? I remember flailing a bit for upgrades (like I do in the AFLM Fantasy game too, to be honest, so I think it's as much to do with the scoring/pricing structure as the shorter season) but wondering if the winning team won because they managed to do the traditional upgrading to full premo or if they settled for weaker (but better value) premos at the D3-5 and F3-5 positions and focused on getting the top on the MID line. That intuitively makes sense to me as the top MIDs seem to be so dominant whereas the premo DEF and FWDs seem to drop off to a clump after the top 1 or 2. But I haven't interrogated it much and don't know what actually worked for the successful teams last year. If anyone has thoughts I'd be eager to hear.

Hi all, here’s draft two taking into account some of the announced rookies (but I don’t have any of the 12 Hawks debutants as yet).

Def
Ruby Schleicher (COL) $120,700
Sarah Goodwin (PTA) $43,100
Brenna Tarrant (SYD) $40,400
Alex Ballard (PTA) $28,700
Mia Busch (ESS) $28,700
Erika O'Shea (NTH) $28,700 - E

Mid
Ebony Marinoff (ADE) $176,200
Mimi Hill (CAR) $119,200
Georgia Patrikios (STK) $106,500
Montana Ham (SYD) $50,300
Abbey Dowrick (PTA) $28,700
Alana Barba (ESS) $28,700 - E
Ella Heads (SYD) $28,700 - U

Ruc
Celine Moody (WBD) $91,300
Fleur Davies (GWS) $28,700 - E

Fwd
Jasmine Garner (NTH) $151,000
Tyla Hanks (MEL) $129,600
Ellie McKenzie (RIC) $66,500
Ella Roberts (WCE) $34,700
Megan Kauffman (FRE) $28,700
Lauren Szigeti (SYD) $28,700 - E

I honestly thought Tarrant was going to be a bit of a POD as she was one I picked early – just knowing her from Melb and what I thought she could do for a new team. Went O’Shea from Nth as she has been named (and I’m a sucker for an Irish accent).

Going from the poll, Marinoff is a bit of a POD as she is my M1. Rookies could change as more are named. And I have a whopping $600 in the bank.

Similar to you @stephen, I don’t play AFL Fantasy well and that translated into AFLW Fantasy the first season – which disappointed me. I think I need to improve my trading strategy.

@Connoisseur , I love your Till Lucas-Rodd selection and will have her as one of my main upgrade targets. Finished very well last year and will be good to see what she does in new colours.

@tso, liking your team as you have gone very different to most here – more mid pricers that should score well, whereas rookies are complete unknowns.

Is anyone doing ShePlays this year?

I wont be doing Sheplays. It was difficult to navigate the postponements on top of AFLW Fantasy.

FRIDAY TEAMS: New faces aplenty as Dees seek GF revenge
IN ITS quest to avenge last season’s Grand Final heartbreak, Melbourne has made just a handful of changes to its side ahead of the rematch against Adelaide on Friday night.

Tahlia Gillard missed the Grand Final but will face the Crows in round one of season seven, with former Cat Jordy Ivey set to debut for her new club alongside fellow new Dees Maeve Chaplin and Samantha Johnson.

Four Grand Final Demons won’t play in the rematch, with Gab Colvin (knee), Sinead Goldrick (knee) and Eliza McNamara (back) all missing due to injury, while Shelley Scott moved to Geelong during the off-season.

New Dee Charlotte Wilson has been named as an emergency.

Montana McKinnon may have missed the Grand Final due to suspension, but she’ll be back for the rematch to help the Crows try to get the job done once again.

Lisa Whiteley is another Crow who missed the Grand Final but will play in the rematch, while former Eagle Niamh Kelly will play her first game in Adelaide colours.

Several premiership Crows left Adelaide during the off-season, but the side still boasts plenty of firepower, with star midfielders Ebony Marinoff and Anne Hatchard both named as well as key-forward duo Ashleigh Woodland and Danielle Ponter.

Forward Ailish Considine has not been named, while Madison Newman and Abbie Ballard both come into the side.

Chaplin is really interesting. Will be playing in the backline I think after a really strong VFLW season - but may get pushed out when Goldrick is fit. Sammie Johnson will be an interesting watch also. Depends on how we structure things if she gets many minutes and continues in the mids. She must have earnt it as we don't have many outs at the moment.

Had Sammie in my initial plans but on my bench. I was a bit unsure on who would replace McNamara.
